|Assets:||Dominates as a pass rusher. Hustles on every snap, never gives up on any play and works relentlessly both on and off the field. Reads plays well and picks up ball carriers.|
|Flaws:||Not an exceptional athlete. Lacks elite size and takes his share of punishment battling through blocks. A bit of a liability against the pass. Doesn't make a lot of plays in pursuit.|

Hali reports to Chiefs 20 pounds overweight | 05/08/2014 11:02 PM
NewsESPN's Adam Schefter reports Chiefs OLB Tamba Hali reported to voluntary offseason workouts 20 pounds over his "optimal playing weight."
Adam Schefter on Twitter
ImpactHali tipped the scales at 284 pounds last week. The Chiefs list him at 275 on their official website but would obviously like him to play lighter. By selecting Auburn OLB Dee Ford with the No. 23 overall pick Thursday night, the Chiefs are sending a message Hali's way even though they desperately needed receiver and offensive-line help. The Chiefs can save $9 million by cutting Hali in 2015.
Tamba Hali (knee) officially active | 01/04/2014 3:25 PM
NewsChiefs OLB Tamba Hali (knee) is active for Saturday's Wild Card game against the Colts.
ImpactHali was cleared to return after making it through pre-game wamups without any setbacks. It's the first time in five weeks that the Chiefs will have both Hali and Justin Houston (elbow) healthy. Kansas City's inactives are QB Tyler Bray, OT Eric Fisher, LB Dezman Moses, TE Richard Gordon, DT Jerrell Powe, C Eric Kush, and OL Rokevious Watkins.
Tamba Hali (knee) to play barring setback | 01/04/2014 2:11 PM
NewsNFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Chiefs are "optimistic" OLB Tamba Hali (questionable, knee) will play in Saturday's Wild Card game against the Colts.
Ian Rapoport on Twitter
ImpactBarring a setback, Hali is going to play against the Colts. He participated in Friday's walkthrough and didn't have any issues during Saturday's pre-game warmups. The Chiefs will also be getting Justin Houston (elbow, probable) back this week after missing the last five games.
Tamba Hali 'plans on playing' at Indianapolis | 01/03/2014 1:51 PM
NewsESPN's Josina Anderson reports Chiefs OLB Tamba Hali (questionable, knee) "plans on playing" Saturday against Indianapolis.
Josina Anderson on Twitter
ImpactPer Anderson, Hali participated in Friday's pre-practice walkthrough after failing to get in any work the previous two days. It's a positive step, but the odds appear against Hali being anywhere near full strength versus the Colts. The Chiefs are getting Justin Houston back from a five-week elbow injury.
Tamba Hali (knee) doesn't practice Thursday | 01/02/2014 2:44 PM
NewsChiefs OLB Tamba Hali (knee) has yet to resume practicing.
Terez A. Paylor on Twitter
Impact"It's just a matter of the swelling coming down in the knee," were the words of coach Andy Reid after Hali didn't practice Thursday. "We're being a little cautious with him there." Reid suggested Hali could suit up for Saturday's Wild Card tilt with the Colts without practicing. Hali would be a huge loss for a team that was most successful this season when it generated a ferocious pass rush. Hali's status will be updated in the next 48 hours.
Tamba Hali ruled out for Week 17 | 12/27/2013 3:44 PM
NewsChiefs OLB Tamba Hali (knee) has been ruled out for Week 17.
ImpactThe Chiefs are eyeing the playoffs at this point with nothing to gain by trotting out a competitive team Sunday against San Diego. We expect Kansas City's Week 17 inactives list to be chock full of first-team players Sunday morning.
Tamba Hali has 'good chance' to play vs. DEN | 11/27/2013 12:56 PM
NewsCoach Andy Reid said OLB Tamba Hali (ankle) has a "good chance" to play in Sunday's game against the Broncos.

Chiefs OLB Hali has 'slight' ankle sprain | 11/25/2013 1:18 PM
NewsAn MRI revealed only a "slight" ankle sprain for Chiefs OLB Tamba Hali, though his Week 13 status is uncertain.
Lindsay Jones on Twitter
Impact"I think he, doctors and coaches felt better after the MRI," coach Andy Reid said Monday. It's definitely a bullet dodged, as the early worry was that Hali had suffered a torn Achilles' tendon. We should get a better idea of Hali's status for Sunday's game against the Broncos when the Chiefs return to practice on Wednesday. For now, he's just a vague "day to day."
Chiefs OLB Hali a 'stretch' to play in Wk 13 | 11/25/2013 9:58 AM
NewsESPN's Adam Schefter stated on SportsCenter Monday that it would be a "stretch" to think Tamba Hali (ankle) will play in Week 13.
ImpactBoth Hali (right ankle) and fellow OLB Justin Houston (right elbow) are undergoing Monday MRIs. The initial diagnosis for Hali is a "mid-inside ankle sprain," and he is likely to miss next Sunday's home tilt with Denver. Hali and Houston have combined for 20 sacks this season. Losing both outside-edge rushers would be a major boost to Peyton Manning's Week 13 fantasy matchup.
Tamba Hali has sprained ankle | 11/24/2013 8:11 PM
NewsFOX Sports' Mike Garafolo reports Chiefs OLB Tamba Hali has been initially diagnosed with a mid-inside ankle sprain.
Mike Garafolo on Twitter
ImpactIt's good news for Hali if the diagnosis holds up -- he appears to have avoided a high ankle sprain -- but as Garafolo notes, a Monday MRI will be "key." The Chiefs also lost OLB Justin Houston to an elbow injury in Week 12.
Chiefs lose OLBs Tamba Hali & Justin Houston | 11/24/2013 2:55 PM
NewsTamba Hali (ankle) and Justin Houston (elbow) have both been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's Week 12 game against the Chargers.
Chiefs OLB Tamba Hali carted to locker room | 11/24/2013 1:50 PM
NewsChiefs OLB Tamba Hali left Sunday's Week 12 game against the Chargers in the second quarter with an ankle injury.
ImpactHali went down on a non-contact play and had to be helped by two trainers to a cart. He was not putting much pressure on his right leg. Frank Zombo has come on in Hali's place.
Reid confirms Chiefs will keep 3-4 defense | 01/14/2013 9:33 PM
NewsChiefs head coach Andy Reid confirmed the team will stick with a 3-4 defense.
Adam Teicher on Twitter
Impact"This team here is invested in the 3-4, so let's continue to build it and get better at it," said Reid. New defensive coordinator Bob Sutton has experience with both the 4-3 and 3-4 from his Jets days, but the Chiefs are definitely better built to move forward with the three down lineman setup. It's welcome news to Tamba Hali, who has come into his own as a stand-up pass rusher.
