Wright and Simpson competing for slot duties | 07/19/2014 1:57 PM
NewsJarius Wright and Jerome Simpson are competing for the Vikings' slot receiver job.
ImpactThe favorite is Wright, who has earned most of the first-team reps during spring practices and is a more natural fit for the slot than Simpson. Neither player will be anything more than the No. 4 passing option on a run-first team.
Jarius Wright to break out under Turner? | 06/07/2014 11:45 AM
NewsESPN Vikings reporter Ben Goessling thinks WR Jarius Wright could get 40 or 50 catches this season.
ImpactWright has never even seen 50 targets in a season, but he has shown flashes of talent in his two-year career and has the skill set to be a weapon out of the slot. Wrights upside is capped, though, as at best the number-three passing game option in what should be a run-heavy offense. He is a late-round flier at best in re-draft leagues.
Jarius Wright finishes year with 434 yards | 12/29/2013 4:08 PM
NewsJarius Wright caught two passes for 31 yards in the Vikings' Week 17 win over the Lions.
ImpactWright slid down the depth chart as his second NFL season progressed, wrapping up as the Vikings' No. 4 receiver behind Greg Jennings, Cordarrelle Patterson, and Jerome Simpson. Wright's final receiving stat line was 26-434-3. It's conceivable that Wright could open next year as the No. 3 behind Jennings and Patterson, but his fantasy value is clearly not looking up.
Jarius Wright shows up with 4/95/0 | 12/15/2013 4:59 PM
NewsJarius Wright caught four passes for 95 yards in Sunday's Week 15 win over the Eagles.
ImpactChalk this one up to the massive holes in the Eagles secondary. Wright saw just five targets, but turned them into a season-high in both catches and yards. In two of previous three games, he didn't even see a target. Leave Wright on waiver wires heading into a Week 16 game at Cincy.
Jarius Wright has two-catch night vs. Wash | 11/08/2013 12:42 AM
NewsJarius Wright caught two passes for 34 yards in Minnesota's Week 10 win over the Vikings.
ImpactWright has cleared 30 yards in back-to-back games, but still has just 140 on the season. He's off the fantasy radar outside of deeper Dynasty leagues.
Jarius Wright hauls in three passes in loss | 11/03/2013 5:51 PM
NewsJarius Wright caught three passes for 31 yards in Week 9 against Dallas.
ImpactThe three catches tied a season-high while the 31 yards fell four yards short of Wright Week 3 total, telling you all you need to know. The No. 4 receiver is on pace to catch just 22 passes this season. He's not on the fantasy radar.
Jarius Wright catches one pass in Week 7 | 10/22/2013 1:23 AM
NewsJarius Wright caught one pass for 15 yards in Week 7 against the Giants.
ImpactWright was targeted five times. Josh Freeman threw the ball 53 times, so that explains that. Wright is the No. 4 receiver and isn't a fantasy option.
Jarius Wright has three catches in Week 3 | 09/22/2013 6:43 PM
NewsJarius Wright had three catches for 35 yards in Week 3 against the Browns.
ImpactWright was targeted four times in the passing game and continues to lose playing time to rookie Cordarrelle Patterson. He's no higher than the Vikings' No. 4 receiver and remains off the fantasy radar.
Jarius Wright cleared after concussion | 08/23/2013 2:21 PM
NewsVikings WR Jarius Wright has been medically cleared following his August 16 concussion.

ImpactHe's sitting out Minnesota's third preseason game, but should be all systems go for Week 1. Wright is the Vikings' No. 3 receiver behind Greg Jennings and Jerome Simpson. Rookie Cordarrelle Patterson is pushing for Simpson's job.
Jarius Wright suffers concussion | 08/17/2013 6:52 PM

ImpactWright will likely miss the Vikings' third preseason game. Through two exhibition contests, the sophomore wideout has been a staple in three-receiver sets alongside Greg Jennings and Jerome Simpson, catching three passes for 26 yards.
Jarius Wright earning raves from coaches | 08/09/2013 10:02 AM
NewsThe Vikings' coaching staff continues to praise WR Jarius Wright.
Impact"The bottom line with Jarius is he knows what to do all of the time," OC Bill Musgrave said. "He can help the other guys in that room." Coach Leslie Frazier was equally effusive. "His maturity for his age. ... He's a very knowledgeable guy, very conscious guy." Wright caught 22 passes for 310 yards in seven games after Percy Harvin went down last season. He'll open 2013 in the slot. He's a WR4/5 flier in PPR leagues.
Jarius Wright having impressive training camp | 08/07/2013 5:08 PM
NewsVikings WR Jarius Wright has been turning heads in camp.
ImpactESPN's Kevin Seifert calls Wright the "most impressive receiver" in Vikes camp. "He's done a fantastic job outside the numbers as well as in the slot," OC Bill Musgrave said. Wright should see most of his time in the slot, but Seifert believes he could occasionally kick outside. Wright has big-play ability, but as the No. 3 receiver, at best, in Christian Ponder's offense, his fantasy upside is low.
Jarius Wright a No. 4 WR for Vikings | 04/23/2013 12:09 PM
News1500ESPN.com considers Jarius Wright a situational No. 4 receiver.
ESPN 1500 Twin Cities
ImpactWright flashed some ability following Percy Harvin's ankle injury last season, recording 22 catches for 310 yards with two touchdowns in just seven games. He's a big-play threat, but is too raw to be counted on as an every-down wideout. The Vikings should be looking for another receiver in the draft to push current No. 2 man Jerome Simpson.
Vikings offered 7th-rounder for Boldin | 03/11/2013 5:59 PM
NewsProfootballtalk.com reports that the Vikings offered the Ravens a seventh-round pick for Anquan Boldin before he was traded to San Francisco for a sixth-rounder on Monday.
Profootballtalk on NBC Sports
ImpactVikings GM Rick Spielman whiffed on Boldin, but he's obviously in the market for receiver help. Minnesota's only wideouts under contract for 2013 are Jarius Wright, Greg Childs, Stephen Burton, and Chris Summers. We expect the Vikings to pursue free agents Greg Jennings and Danny Amendola on Tuesday afternoon.
Packers hold Wright to 13 yards on 2 catches | 01/06/2013 12:13 AM
NewsJarius Wright managed just two catches for 13 yards in the Vikings' Wild Card loss to Green Bay.
ImpactA week after burning the same Packers secondary for 90 yards and a touchdown, rookie Wright had minimal impact with Joe Webb at the controls. Wright, a 2012 fourth-round pick out of Arkansas, wound up appearing in seven regular season games, primarily as Percy Harvin's injury replacement. He caught 22 passes for 310 yards and two touchdowns. We're not overly optimistic about Wright emerging as a fantasy factor in 2013, but he certainly brings some big-play ability to the table.
