Seahawks give Baldwin 3-year, $13M deal | 05/29/2014 11:06 AM
NewsSeahawks signed restricted free agent WR Doug Baldwin to a three-year, $13 million contract.
Louis Riddick on Twitter
ImpactBaldwin gets $9 million over the first two years. Not a bad haul for the former undrafted free agent out of Stanford. Baldwin (5-foot-10, 189) plays bigger than his size would indicate and has become a favorite target of Russell Wilson's. He has reliable hands and is coming of a 50-778-5 line in 2013. Entering his age-26 season, there isn't much room for statistical growth for Baldwin in one of the league's run-heaviest offenses. With Percy Harvin also returning to health, Baldwin is more WR4 than WR3. He should play every down, though. At OTAs, Baldwin is practicing at Z receiver with Harvin in the slot.

Baldwin has no plans to hold out | 05/24/2014 11:45 AM
NewsIn a radio interview Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin said he will not hold out for a long-term contract.
ESPN 710 Seattle
ImpactBaldwin has yet to sign the one-year $2.187 million tender the Seahawks offered him, but there is zero chance he is not playing for Seattle Week 1. The two sides are currently in negotiations, and a long-term deal will likely get done before the season begins. Even if it doesn't, Baldwin looks ready to play out the season on his one-year tender.
Doug Baldwin in talks with SEA on extension | 05/22/2014 11:57 AM
NewsDoug Baldwin said he is currently in contract extension talks with the Seahawks.
John Boyle on Twitter
ImpactBaldwin is a restricted free agent that hasn't yet signed his one-year, $2.187 million tender. He said the Seahawks made a long-term offer, and he has countered. Either way, he's going to be in Seattle this season, playing the role of underrated complement to Percy Harvin and Sidney Rice.
Baldwin thinks he could sign multi-year deal | 05/08/2014 3:20 PM
NewsDoug Baldwin believes he could sign a long-term contract this offseason.
ImpactA restricted free agent, Baldwin has yet to sign his one-year, $2.187 million tender, but can no longer talk with other teams. That means Seattle is his only option for 2014. "I will say things are going in the right direction," Baldwin said. "(We) are in preliminary talks. But hopefully we will figure something out soon." Baldwin is currently penciled in as a starter opposite Percy Harvin.

NewsThe NFL's deadline for restricted free agents to sign offer sheets passed on Friday.
Profootballtalk on NBC Sports
ImpactDoug Baldwin is the most notable restricted free agent that remains unsigned, although he was never a threat to leave Seattle. The Seahawks assigned him a second-round tender in March, worth $2.187 million. He'll sign it eventually.
Doug Baldwin has yet to sign RFA tender | 04/22/2014 9:18 PM
NewsDoug Baldwin has yet to sign the second-round tender the Seahawks offered him in March.
ImpactBecause he is only a restricted free agent, Baldwin does have the opportunity to negotiate and sign a deal with another team, but that does not appear to be his intention. Baldwin worked out with a group of Seahawk players last week and signed a waiver to participate in voluntary workouts this week. He also said he is interested in working out a long-term deal with Seattle. Baldwin will be a Seahawk in 2014 and has some upside as their No. 2 receiver.
Seahawks tender Baldwin at second-round level | 03/07/2014 6:03 PM
NewsSeahawks tendered restricted free agent Doug Baldwin at the second-round level.
Brian McIntyre on Twitter
ImpactThe tender is worth $2.187 million. Another team could try signing away Baldwin at the cost of a second-round pick, though that's unlikely to happen. Baldwin posted a career best 778 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 2013 and could return as Seattle's No. 2 receiver if they fail to re-sign Golden Tate.
Baldwin goes for 5-66-1 in Super Bowl | 02/02/2014 10:38 PM
NewsDoug Baldwin racked up a team-high five catches for 66 yards and a touchdown in Seattle's Super Bowl 48 win.
ImpactHe was just too quick and too fast for Champ Bailey. Baldwin beat Bailey for a big first down midway through the first quarter, gaining six on a slot route. Plays later, he whipped Bailey down the right sideline for a gain of 37. Baldwin's fourth-quarter touchdown came on a slot route into zone coverage, scoring from ten yards out to make the score 43-8. Baldwin developed into a near-every-down wideout in Seattle's run-first offense in 2013, and should continue to flirt with fantasy WR3 value next season. His outlook would be improved if free agent Golden Tate left.

NewsDoug Baldwin (hip) is listed as probable for the Super Bowl.
ImpactBaldwin sat out practice all last week for precautionary reasons. With Percy Harvin cleared to return to the lineup, he'll be Seattle's No. 3 receiver against the Broncos.

NewsDoug Baldwin is dealing with a hip pointer and is expected to be limited some in practice this week.
Curtis Crabtree on Twitter
ImpactIt's not a serious issue. Baldwin classified it as a bruise following the Seahawks' win over the 49ers. He has two weeks to get ready for the Super Bowl. Baldwin has turned into Russell Wilson's safety blanket this season and will play a prominent offensive role even if/when Percy Harvin returns to the lineup.
Baldwin leads advancing 'Hawks in receiving | 01/19/2014 11:03 PM
NewsDoug Baldwin caught six passes for 106 yards in Seattle's NFC Championship Game victory over the 49ers.
ImpactBaldwin was the Seahawks' leading receiver as Percy Harvin (concussion) sat and Golden Tate mustered only four grabs. The 100-yard game was Baldwin's first of the season. The highlight was a 51-yard grab in the second quarter, where Baldwin split double coverage from a scrambling Russell Wilson. Baldwin tweaked his hip on the play, but stayed in the game. An inconsistent option in Seattle's run-heavy offense, Baldwin could catch anywhere from zero to six passes in Super Bowl XLVIII.
Doug Baldwin has two-catch day versus Saints | 01/11/2014 8:33 PM
NewsDoug Baldwin caught two passes for 30 yards in Seattle's Divisional Round win over the Saints.
ImpactBaldwin was the Seahawks' leading receiver on a day where Percy Harvin left early with a concussion, and Russell Wilson struggled in adverse conditions. Heading into the NFC Championship Game, Baldwin has just three catches for 38 yards over his past three games.
Doug Baldwin leads Seahawks WRs in snaps | 12/16/2013 12:20 PM
NewsDoug Baldwin led Seahawks wide receivers by playing on 57-of-69 snaps in Sunday's win at the Giants.
ImpactGolden Tate was second with 50 snaps and Jermaine Kearse was at 49. Over the last six games, Baldwin has emerged as Russell Wilson's No. 1 receiver while averaging 4.3 catches for 66.3 yards with four touchdowns. Since he operates mostly out of the slot, he'll likely avoid the coverage of Patrick Peterson in Week 16 and make for a low-end WR3 play.
Doug Baldwin (neck) probable for Week 15 | 12/13/2013 8:40 PM
NewsDoug Baldwin (neck) is listed as probable for Week 15.
ImpactBaldwin was held out of practice earlier in the week, but participated fully on both Thursday and Friday. He's safe to use as a WR4 against the Giants in Week 15.
Doug Baldwin gets in full practice Thursday | 12/12/2013 7:19 PM
NewsDoug Baldwin returned to Seahawks practice Thursday, getting in a full session.
ImpactBaldwin's Week 15 status is no longer a concern. He's an upside WR4 for the Seahawks' meeting with the Giants.
Doug Baldwin (neck) misses practice | 12/11/2013 7:21 PM
NewsDoug Baldwin (neck) did not practice Wednesday.
ImpactWe didn't notice Baldwin suffer any sort of injury last week against the 49ers, and he played his normal amount of snaps. Baldwin has a date with the Giants this week and has some WR3 upside. He'll be updated again Thursday.
Doug Baldwin has three-catch day in loss | 12/08/2013 8:27 PM
NewsDoug Baldwin caught three passes for 36 yards in Seattle's Week 14 loss to the 49ers.
ImpactBaldwin drew only four targets in a game where the Seahawks dialed up only 25 pass attempts. A slot receiver without a terribly high weekly ceiling, Baldwin can't be trusted as more than a WR4 for the final two weeks of the fantasy playoffs.
Baldwin posts 4-77-1 line in Monday night win | 12/03/2013 12:40 AM
NewsDoug Baldwin caught four passes for 77 yards and one touchdown in Monday night's Week 13 win over the Saints.
ImpactBaldwin was targeted five times on the night with Percy Harvin (hip) back out of commission. His big gain went for 52 yards on a third-and-three in the first half. Russell Wilson delivered a perfect ball on a blitz-beater, and Baldwin reeled it in behind Malcolm Jenkins. Baldwin later scored an easy four-yard touchdown, as he was standing wide open in the end zone to put Seattle up 27-7 in the second quarter. After 12 games, Baldwin is on pace to catch 53 passes for 884 yards and five touchdowns. All would be career-highs for the third-year receiver. He has some WR3 appeal if Harvin gets shut down for the rest of the regular season.
Baldwin goes for 63 yards, touchdown | 11/17/2013 7:46 PM
NewsDoug Baldwin caught two balls for 63 yards and a touchdown in the Seahawks' Week 11 win over Minnesota.
ImpactBaldwin turned in big plays on each of his receptions, making a fantastic grab for a gain of 44 yards and scoring from 19 yards out at the tail end of the second quarter. Following Seattle's Week 12 bye, Baldwin will be a low-end WR3 in fantasy leagues. He's going to be the Seahawks' No. 3 receiver.
Doug Baldwin goes off for 75 yards, touchdown | 11/03/2013 7:29 PM
NewsDoug Baldwin caught six balls for 75 yards and a touchdown in the Seahawks' Week 9 win over Tampa Bay.
ImpactWith Darrelle Revis (mostly) on Golden Tate and Sidney Rice on injured reserve, Baldwin was the most-open receiver Russell Wilson had. And Wilson throws to the open man. Baldwin had a few early-game drops, but came through with fantastic clutch catches for first downs and scored from ten yards out in the fourth quarter. Assuming Percy Harvin (hip) isn't back in Week 10, Baldwin will be a strong fantasy start as a WR3 in Week 10 at Atlanta. The Falcons get shredded weekly by slot receivers.
Doug Baldwin will get a chance on the outside | 10/31/2013 11:00 AM
NewsSeahawks OC Darrell Bevell said Doug Baldwin will get more chances to play outside in the wake of Sidney Rice's season-ending injury.
Baldwin reels in lone target in Week 8 win | 10/29/2013 1:10 AM
NewsDoug Baldwin caught one pass for 12 yards in Week 8 against the Rams.
ImpactIt was Baldwin's lone target. He's now been held to one catch in four-of-eight games and is obviously not on the fantasy radar. Once Percy Harvin (hip) returns, Baldwin will be even further away from fantasy relevance.
Doug Baldwin held to one catch in Arizona | 10/18/2013 12:36 AM
NewsDoug Baldwin caught one pass for 16 yards in Seattle's Week 7 win over the Cardinals.
ImpactThe one-catch effort was Baldwin's third in seven games. Baldwin is a nifty little slot receiver, but doesn't draw consistent enough looks in Seattle's spread-the-wealth passing attack to merit WR3 appeal in fantasy leagues. Percy Harvin's return will only make things worse.
Doug Baldwin goes for 80 yards in Week 5 loss | 10/06/2013 5:03 PM
NewsDoug Baldwin caught five balls for a team-high 80 yards in the Seahawks' Week 5 loss to Indianapolis.
ImpactBaldwin has big-play ability in the slot, although the Seahawks' run-dominated offense limits his playing time and kills his consistency. He's a better real-life than fantasy football player. Consider Baldwin a low-end WR3 option at best when Seattle takes on Tennessee in Week 6.
Baldwin reels in three passes in Week 4 win | 09/29/2013 5:53 PM
NewsDoug Baldwin caught three passes for 39 yards in Seattle's Week 4 victory over the Texans.
ImpactBaldwin was targeted four times on the day. He made a crazy 24-yard catch near the sideline on a third down with the Seahawks backed up on their own two-yard line in the fourth quarter. Baldwin is looking like Russell Wilson's security blanket. He's on pace to catch 48 passes for 864 yards and four touchdowns. He's a better real-life player than fantasy option.
Baldwin leads Seahawks in Week 2 receiving | 09/16/2013 2:25 AM
NewsDoug Baldwin had one catch for 51 yards in Week 2 against the 49ers.
ImpactIt was his only target of the night. Baldwin failed to make an impact outside of his 51-yard reception, but still managed to lead the Seahawks in receiving. He now has eight catches for 142 yards through two games.
Doug Baldwin goes for 36 yards Friday night | 08/23/2013 10:52 PM
NewsSeahawks WR Doug Baldwin caught two passes for 36 yards in Friday night's third preseason game.
ImpactWith Sidney Rice (knee) resting again, Baldwin saw extensive reps with Russell Wilson and the first-team offense. He made a big catch down the seam for 27 yards in the first quarter. Baldwin is a better real-life than fantasy player because he's a rotational wideout on a run-first team. Through three preseason contests, Seattle's slot receiver has three receptions for 52 yards.
'Several teams' inquired about Doug Baldwin | 07/28/2013 11:20 PM
NewsCBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports "several teams" inquired about the trade availability of Doug Baldwin after the Seahawks acquired Percy Harvin.
ImpactPer La Canfora, GM John Schneider "wouldn't even entertain" the overtures because he wants "as much depth as possible." With Harvin battling a hip tear, Schneider is looking as savvy as ever. Assuming Harvin plays this year, Baldwin will be his primary backup in the slot and Seattle's No. 4 receiver. A playmaker inside, Baldwin is scheduled for restricted free agency in 2014.
Doug Baldwin stood out in spring practice | 06/26/2013 11:37 AM
NewsDoug Baldwin was reportedly the "real standout" among the receivers during Seahawks' spring practices.
Tacoma News Tribune
ImpactOn a roster that includes Percy Harvin, Sidney Rice and Golden Tate, an undersized former undrafted free agent out of Stanford continues to open eyes. A slot receiver-needy team would be wise to offer a late-round pick to Seattle and see if they'll bite. Baldwin can play.
Colts targeting wide receiver? | 03/17/2013 1:36 PM
NewsOwner Jim Irsay recently tweeted that the Colts are pursuing a wide receiver, and the Indianapolis Star speculates it may be Doug Baldwin.
ImpactThe Indy Star is just connecting dots, but they do connect. Baldwin was pushed down Seattle's depth chart following Percy Harvin's acquisition, and Baldwin played with Colts quarterback Andrew Luck and under new OC Pep Hamilton at Stanford. We suspect Seattle could net a fifth- or sixth-round pick for Baldwin.
