Drafted:Drafted by Indianapolis in 2012 (1/1).
|Assets:||Possesses great touch from all ranges. Has solid arm strength and trusts his mechanics enough to throw the ball all over the field. Gets an exceptional initial read on opposing defenses and shows underrated mobility. Provides mature leadership on and off the field.|
|Flaws:||Isn't the best of scramblers out of the pocket (although he knows how to adjust in motion). Sometimes loses trajectory on deep throws getting too much loft on the ball (which leads to interceptions). Can be slow at times spotting a secondary target, which affects his completion percentage.|

Coaches, front offices put Luck in Tier 1 | 07/03/2014 8:30 AM
NewsIn poll of 26 general managers, personnel men and coaches, Andrew Luck landed in "Tier 1" of quarterbacks.
Colts OC: We're going to be score-first team | 05/27/2014 9:48 AM
NewsColts OC Pep Hamilton said he's taken a "score-first" mindset heading into his second season on the job.
ImpactHamilton preached and practiced (without much success) a run-first, physical style of offense as a rookie NFL coordinator last season. He's come to realize that he can't jam a square peg into a round hole. Hamilton has one of the game's better quarterbacks in Andrew Luck and a loaded arsenal of pass catchers. "We're going to do whatever we need to do to score one more point than our opponent," Hamilton said. Luck isn't going to drop back 700 times, but he could flirt with close to 600 attempts and remains in the bottom half of the QB1 mix.
Pep Hamilton wanted to run, and run some more | 01/30/2014 10:42 AM
NewsVick Ballard said OC Pep Hamilton's philosophy was "we're going to run the ball on first, second and third down."
ImpactBallard didn't get a chance to participate in the run-heavy gameplans due to a September ACL tear, but he had to watch with the rest of us as Hamilton took the ball out of Andrew Luck's hands. The Colts repeatedly fell behind while sticking with the run, only to watch Luck bring them back from huge deficits once asked to carry the team. He finished the season 11th in pass attempts (570) and 13th in yards (3,822), criminal numbers for one of the game's best quarterbacks. We suspect Hamilton will lean toward the pass more in 2014 once he assesses where his top talent lies.
Luck tosses 4 picks as Colts get eliminated | 01/11/2014 11:32 PM
NewsAndrew Luck completed 20-of-41 passes for 331 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions in Indianapolis' 43-22, Divisional Round loss to the Patriots.
Luck, Colts erase 28-point deficit, stun KC | 01/04/2014 8:09 PM
NewsAndrew Luck completed 29-of-45 passes for 443 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions as the Colts stunned the Chiefs 45-44 in Saturday's Wild Card game.
Colts rest Luck for 2nd half of Week 17 win | 12/29/2013 3:26 PM
NewsThe Colts rested Andrew Luck in the second half of Week 17 in favor of Matt Hasselbeck after Luck completed 26-of-37 passes for 282 yards and a touchdown in Indy's floor-wiping of Jacksonville.
ImpactThe Colts had a 27-3 lead at the time of Hasselbeck's insertion. Luck puts a bow on his second NFL regular season with 3,822 passing yards and a 23:9 TD-to-INT ratio, cutting his turnovers dramatically from his rookie year and improving both his completion rate and quarterback rating. Armed with a more explosive pass-catching corps than he began the season, Luck enters the playoffs playing some of his best football of the year. The Colts wound up winning the AFC South in a landslide, finishing with an 11-5 record for the second straight season.
Luck leads Colts over Chiefs for 10th victory | 12/22/2013 4:32 PM
NewsAndrew Luck completed 26-of-37 passes for 241 yards and one touchdown in the Colts' Week 16, 23-7 win over the Chiefs.
Colts lay the smackdown on HOU in easy win | 12/15/2013 4:24 PM
NewsAndrew Luck completed 19-of-32 passes for 180 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in Indianapolis' 25-3, Week 15 beatdown of the Texans.
ImpactWith the Colts in control from the opening possession, Luck attempted only one fourth-quarter pass in a game where Houston didn't compete. Luck's pick was a badly under-thrown deep ball to Da'Rick Rogers near the goal line, but it made little difference in a game where Indy was never threatened. It certainly had something to do with Houston's non-competitive nature, but Indy looked far more competent on offense this afternoon, actually appearing as if it had a game-plan. Luck will remain a borderline QB1 in Week 16 against the Chiefs.
Luck throws for 326 yards, 4 TDs in loss | 12/08/2013 5:42 PM
NewsAndrew Luck completed 29-of-46 passes for 326 yards and four touchdowns in Week 14 against the Bengals.
ImpactLuck also led the Colts in rushing with 32 yards on two attempts. The Colts were playing from behind all day long, leading to a ton of work for the passing game. The coaching staff finally turned away from Darrius Heyward-Bey, giving more reps to youngsters Da'Rick Rogers and LaVon Brazill. Luck hooked up with each for a pair of touchdowns. The Indianapolis offensive line didn't surrender one sack for the first time all season. Luck will be a locked-in QB1 next week against a Texans team that is just going through the motions.
Andrew Luck struggles but Colts win | 12/01/2013 4:33 PM
NewsAndrew Luck completed 17-of-32 throws for 200 yards and an interception in the Colts' Week 13 win over the Titans.
ImpactHe added five scrambles for 42 yards, including a 24-yard keeper around right tackle on the Colts' most momentous drive of the game, in the fourth quarter. Luck absorbed five sacks, including four in the second quarter alone. The Colts' pass protection is atrocious, and lately Luck has been exacerbating the problems by holding onto the ball too long, as if he's become shell shocked. He'll only be a borderline QB1 in Week 14 at Cincinnati.
Colts 'concerned' about rookie OC Hamilton | 12/01/2013 12:41 PM
NewsNFL Network's Mike Silver reports Colts OC Pep Hamilton is "under pressure" within the organization to "step up his game" after so many slow offensive starts over the past several weeks.
ImpactTwo sources tell Silver that Hamilton "might be having a tough time adjusting" to the NFL as a rookie coordinator coming from Stanford. The transition was expected to be smooth based on Hamilton's familiarity with Andrew Luck and Coby Fleener, but has been the opposite. The Colts have prioritized scheme over personnel under Hamilton, taking a big step back from the all-too-brief Bruce Arians era. There is reportedly a belief at Colts headquarters that Hamilton has "struggled to free up receivers" like T.Y. Hilton, and his system has lacked imagination and aggressiveness. If the Colts keep playing as they've been playing, Pep the Playcaller could be one-and-done in Indy.
Luck and the Colts get blown out in Arizona | 11/24/2013 7:27 PM
NewsAndrew Luck completed 20-of-39 passes for 163 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the Colts' 40-11, Week 12 blowout loss in Arizona.
ImpactLuck's offensive line cannot hold blocks long enough for anything to develop down field, even though they surrendered just one sack. The second-year stud quarterback posted a pitiful 4.2 YPA on Sunday. He also led the regulars in rushing with 31 yards on two carries. Trent Richardson and Donald Brown combined for 16 yards on nine totes. Luck's No. 1 receiver, T.Y. Hilton, was blanketed by Patrick Peterson all afternoon and hurt his shoulder in the process, though he missed just a couple plays. On his touchdown pass, Luck hooked up with Coby Fleener from 17 yards away in garbage time. His interception was a brutal pick-six to Karlos Dansby in the second quarter. Luck threw off his back foot as he was falling away on the play. The 7-4 Colts host the Titans next week. Luck tossed for 232 yards against Tennessee in Week 11.
Luck manages rushing TD in narrow victory | 11/14/2013 11:35 PM
NewsAndrew Luck completed 23-of-36 passes for 232 yards in Indianapolis' 30-27 Week 11 win over the Titans, adding nine rushes for 31 yards and a touchdown.
ImpactLuck's 11-yard touchdown run midway through the third quarter - which included the second-year quarterback faking LE Derrick Morgan out of his shoes - saved what would have otherwise been a highly forgettable fantasy effort. Luck spent the entire first half throwing off his back foot, as the Colts' sieve-like offensive line had two of its worst quarters of the season. The whole offense settled down after the break, however, with Luck striking up a nice connection with Coby Fleener. Life hasn't been easy for Luck without Reggie Wayne, but he appears to be slowly adjusting. Luck will be a borderline QB1 in Week 12 against the Cardinals.
Andrew Luck throws for three picks in loss | 11/10/2013 3:54 PM
NewsAndrew Luck completed 29-of-47 passes for 353 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions in Indianapolis' Week 10 loss to the Rams.
ImpactHe was pulled mid-way through the fourth quarter with Indy trailing 38-8. As has been the case for the most of the season, Luck was the victim of horrible pass blocking and questionable play calling, but he deserves a large share of the blame for his worst start of the year. Luck spent the first half overthrowing everybody in sight, stared down his receiver on his first pick and overthrew Coby Fleener on his second. The third came on a tipped pass in the end zone. Luck was throwing a much crisper ball in the second half, but it was far too little, too late in a game Indy trailed 28-0 at the break. Luck is too good not to get back on track in Thursday's game against the Titans.
Luck leads Colts to comeback win over Texans | 11/03/2013 11:54 PM
NewsAndrew Luck completed 18-of-40 passes for 271 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday night's Week 9 win over the Texans.
ImpactLuck struggled to get anything going early, but was able to connect with T.Y. Hilton for all three of his touchdowns in the second half. Playing without Reggie Wayne, he completed just 45 percent of his passes and averaged 6.8 yards per attempt. It was another impressive fourth quarter comeback from Luck, who's on pace for 3,690 yards, 36 touchdowns, and six interceptions through eight games. He'll remain a QB1 for next week's matchup against the Rams.
Andrew Luck outplays Manning in SNF win | 10/21/2013 12:32 AM
NewsAndrew Luck completed 21-of-38 passes for 228 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday night's Week 7 win over the Broncos.
ImpactHe added four carries for 29 yards and a scored on a 10-yard scramble in the third quarter. Luck threw all three of his touchdowns in the first half and relied mostly on the short-to-intermediate passing game. He didn't have any turnovers and managed to outplay Peyton Manning, but couldn't get anything going downfield with T.Y. Hilton, averaging just 6.0 yards-per-attempt. Through seven games, Luck has 1,574 passing yards (224.9 YPG) and 13 total touchdowns. He'll be a recommended QB1 start when the Colts come out of their bye in Week 9 against the Texans.
Andrew Luck pressured, hurt by drops in loss | 10/14/2013 11:51 PM
NewsAndrew Luck completed 18-of-30 passes for 202 yards and one interception in the Colts' 19-9, Week 6 loss to the Chargers on Monday night.
ImpactLuck was sacked just once but faced a lot of heat, especially from Chargers RE Corey Liuget. Liuget was giving the left side of the Indianapolis line fits all night long. Luck was also plagued by drops. There were at least five of them. Darrius Heyward-Bey had one of the bigger ones on what might have been a 60-yard touchdown. The ball was a bit overthrown, but it clanked right off DHB's hands with nothing but green grass ahead. Coby Fleener had the other big drop just before halftime. Luck's interception came on the final drive with the Colts down ten points. OC Pep Hamilton dialed up maybe two deep passes all night long. Luck and the 4-2 Colts welcome Peyton Manning back to town next Sunday.
Andrew Luck leads Colts to dominant win | 09/29/2013 4:04 PM
NewsAndrew Luck completed 22-of-36 passes for 260 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception as the Colts dominated the Jaguars in Week 4.
ImpactHe rushed twice for 26 yards, and was removed late in favor of Matt Hasselbeck with the Colts kicking Jacksonville's tail. Luck bounced back from an inaccurate, sloppy first half to march Indy's offense down the field consistently in the final two quarters, finding Coby Fleener for a 31-yard score and Reggie Wayne for a five-yarder. Through four weeks, Luck is on pace for a 20:8 TD-to-INT ratio as a passer, though he's buoying his stats with rushing yards and scores. The 3-1 Colts will host the Seahawks in Week 5. Luck will be a low-end to mid-range QB1.
Luck's touchdown came on naked bootleg | 09/23/2013 10:49 AM
NewsAndrew Luck's touchdown run in Sunday's win over the 49ers came on a naked bootleg.
ImpactLuck's athleticism is highly underrated. He ran a 4.67 at the 2012 Combine along with plus marks in the vertical leap and broad jump. As a rookie, he rushed for 255 yards and five touchdowns. This year, he's on pace to rush for 533 times and 10 scores. Luck is on his way to a monster fantasy season.
Andrew Luck leads Colts to shock win in SF | 09/22/2013 7:20 PM
NewsAndrew Luck completed 18-of-27 passes for 164 yards in Indianapolis' 27-7 Week 3 win over the 49ers, adding four rushes for 24 yards and a touchdown.
ImpactThe Colts brazenly came into San Francisco planning to run a power attack against the 49ers' lockdown run defense, and proceeded to gash them for 179 yards on the ground and 4.6 yards per carry. It was a gritty win for the Colts, though that's likely of little consolation to Luck's fantasy owners, who watched the ascendant quarterback attempt fewer than 30 passes for the second time in three games. Luck's arm is inarguably the Colts' greatest asset on offense, but they're committed to a hard-nosed rushing attack under new OC Pep Hamilton, and Luck's fantasy expectations may have to be readjusted as a result. Nevertheless, Luck enters Week 4 as a QB1 against the Jaguars' pathetic defense.
Andrew Luck comes up short in Dolphins loss | 09/15/2013 5:36 PM
NewsAndrew Luck completed 25-of-43 passes for 321 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, and rushed four times for 38 yards in the Colts' Week 2 loss to the Dolphins.
ImpactLuck made seemingly countless plays under duress, but he's getting hit too much and the Colts are going to have to go back to the drawing board there. Luck couldn't pull off a game-winning touchdown drive after doing so against the Raiders in the opener. Although "at San Francisco" appears a difficult matchup on paper for Luck, the Niners are weak in the secondary and he will remain a top-12 fantasy quarterback play in Week 3.
Irsay demands that Colts protect Luck better | 09/12/2013 8:11 AM
NewsColts owner Jim Irsay said via Twitter that he "DEMANDS" better protection of Andrew Luck.
Luck accounts for 3 TDs as Colts outlast OAK | 09/08/2013 4:17 PM
NewsAndrew Luck completed 18-of-23 passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns, and rushed six times for 38 yards and a third score in Sunday's Week 1 win over the Raiders.
ImpactRookie playcaller Pep Hamilton made it a point to emphasize the run -- the Colts finished with 26 rushing attempts compared to 23 passes -- but Luck compensated in the box score with old-fashioned playmaking ability. The red sea parted in the middle of Oakland's defense on Luck's 19-yard touchdown run, capping yet another fourth-quarter comeback win after Luck registered a league-high seven of them in 2012. Treat Luck as a top-ten fantasy QB play in Week 2 against Miami.
Luck heating up in preseason: 2 TDs, 0 INTs | 08/18/2013 8:24 PM
NewsAndrew Luck completed 9-of-13 passes for 107 yards and two touchdowns in the Colts' second preseason game Sunday night.
ImpactHe tacked on a 14-yard scramble to pick up a key first down on third-and-long. Luck's touchdowns were good to Reggie Wayne from 28 yards out and T.Y. Hilton on an 18-yard toe-tapper in the back right corner of the end zone. Through two preseason games, Luck has completed 13-of-19 passes (68.4 percent) for 158 yards (8.3 YPA), two scores, and no turnovers. Behind a revamped offensive line, Luck has absorbed just one sack among 20 dropbacks.
Andrew Luck solid in preseason opener | 08/11/2013 2:02 PM
NewsAndrew Luck completed 4-of-6 passes for 51 yards in the Colts' preseason opener Sunday afternoon.
ImpactHe played two drives, neither of which led to points. Luck showed chemistry with Coby Fleener, as the duo hooked up twice for 37 yards, though Fleener fumbled away the second following a 23-yard gain. A vanilla version of Indy's offense still looked far more high-percentage than the system run by Bruce Arians last year. They took what the defense gave them and racked up short completions.
Andrew Luck: Colts want more balance on O | 07/28/2013 12:43 PM
NewsAndrew Luck told ESPN's Bob Holtzman the Colts' new offense will be a combination of Stanford and Bruce Arians' schemes.
ImpactThe goal is to become more balanced a year after Indy ranked sixth in the NFL in pass attempts and tied for 15th in carries. While there may be slightly less separation between those two numbers in 2013, the Colts would be insane to suddenly install a run-based offense because their best talent (easily) is in the pass game. The biggest change should be formationally. The Colts will deviate from Arians' three-receiver offense, and become a two-tight end team.
Expect shorter throws from Andrew Luck | 05/16/2013 11:05 AM
NewsCoach Chuck Pagano said to expect more three- and five-step drops from Andrew Luck this season.
ImpactUnder Bruce Arians, Luck took mostly seven-step drops. He rarely dumped off passes to running backs and always looked to aggressively push the ball vertically. Now that Arians is out and Pep Hamilton is in, a true West Coast scheme is being installed. "We want to be efficient. The biggest difference might be a little bit more quick-game, if you will. Get the ball out of Andrew's hands," Pagano said. "Get it into our playmakers' hands. A little bit more catch-and-run type of things." Luck is at the back end of the QB1 rankings in fantasy circles.
Hamilton trying to adapt to Arians' offense | 03/24/2013 8:49 AM
NewsThe National Football Post's Dan Pompei reports new Colts OC Pep Hamilton is trying to adapt to as much of Bruce Arians' offense as possible.
National Football Post
ImpactHamilton is "trying to minimize changes" and "make it easier" on his younger players while sticking with what worked so well in 2012. We still expect more West Coast tendencies to be implemented by Hamilton, but keeping the offense as vertical as possible is good news for the fantasy prospects of Andrew Luck and especially second-year burner WR T.Y. Hilton.
Colts planning to 'mix in' read option? | 02/13/2013 4:19 PM
NewsNew Colts OC Pep Hamilton says he may "mix in some read-option" in 2013.
Profootballtalk on NBCSports.com
Impact"We'll do a great job of mixing in some power runs, mixing in the downfield passing game, maybe even mixing in some wildcat plays, mix in some read-option, pistol-type schemes," Hamilton said. "Just really try and present once again a lot of conflicts for our opponents." Luck certainly has the athleticism to make plays with his feet, but we wouldn't expect a huge uptick on his 2012 running numbers (62 carries for 255 yards and five touchdowns). However, even 2-3 more rushing scores would be a boon for his fantasy prospects.
Colts to run more West Coast offense in 2013 | 01/21/2013 1:44 PM
NewsNew Colts offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton says he'll run more of a West Coast offense than Bruce Arians did in Indianapolis.
ImpactUnder Arians, the Colts relied on a heavy passing game that sought to pick up yards in chunks. In turn, Andrew Luck averaged a healthy 12.9 yards-per-attempt. Luck is very unlikely to approach that number again. "The short, efficient passing game, a high completion rate. I'm a big believer of the power-running game and I think that ultimately opens up your passing game, the play-action passes," said Hamilton. The Colts were in the middle of the pack when it came to play-action in 2012, but that figures to rise under Hamilton. We might be a bit wary of expecting Luck to top 4,300 yards passing again.
Colts to focus on upgrading offensive line? | 01/16/2013 11:40 AM
NewsColts GM Ryan Grigson suggested that upgrading the offensive line will be among his top priorities this offseason.
Luck throws for 288 yards, INT in loss | 01/06/2013 5:56 PM
NewsAndrew Luck completed 28-of-54 passes for 288 yards and an interception at Baltimore in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
ImpactHis 54 attempts shattered Aaron Brooks rookie record of 48. No quarterback was knocked down more than Luck this season, and he got little help from his offensive line and wide receivers again on Sunday. Although the Ravens blitzed him relentlessly, Luck played well enough to win with more support from his teammates. With another offseason for savvy GM Ryan Grigson to acquire talent, Luck should be a top-10 fantasy QB again in 2013.
