|Assets:||Truly does it all on the court: almost unstoppable one-on-one and driving to the hoop, and plays well above the rim. Incredibly explosive in the open court, with elite finishing abilities. An elite defender. Has become more clutch over time. One of the greatest athletes to ever play the game.|
|Flaws:||Could be a more consistent free throw shooter considering how often he gets fouled. Could add more of a mid-range game; often either drives the lane or shoots the trey. Seen by some as a 'me-first' player (despite his great assist totals).|
|Career Potential:||Superstar small forward & perennial MVP candidate.|

Cavaliers forward LeBron James is the clear cut No. 1 pick with Kevin Durant injured the first six-to-eight weeks of the season. | 10/22/2014 6:23 PM
NewsCavaliers forward LeBron James is the clear cut No. 1 pick with Kevin Durant injured the first six-to-eight weeks of the season.
ImpactJames' production dipped a little last season, but everything is relative. At 29-years-old, James will play fewer minutes this season, but his field goal percentage could go up and he is still the best player in the world. Don't hesitate to draft him No. 1.
Scottie Pippen wasn't surprised LBJ left MIA | 07/20/2014 11:50 AM
NewsScottie Pippen stated in a recent interview that he wasn't surprised LeBron James returned to Cleveland.
Impact"I wasn't surprised, I kind of figured he'd go back [to Cleveland]," Pippen said. "I don't know if he could hold that team up. I think [Dwyane] Wade's physical ability had him thinking like, `Hey, maybe this is not the place I need to be.' It was a great run for them. They weren't as successful as they thought they would be, but you went to the Finals four times, so you can't hold your head down too much about that."
LBJ to see time at power forward under Blatt | 07/16/2014 12:47 PM
NewsDavid Blatt said that he plans to occasionally use LeBron James as a stretch 4 next season.
Impact"I just came from the land of the stretch 4s," Blatt said during an interview on Grantland. "Stretch 4s became popular in the United States because of Europe. If anyone knows that style of play, it's probably me. Yeah, you'll see LeBron there." James thrived as a small-ball power forward in Miami, becoming one of the best post scores in the league. It will be interesting to see how Blatt plans to use James' position versatility next season.
LeBron James signed a two-year deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers. | 07/12/2014 6:03 PM
NewsLeBron James signed a two-year deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
ImpactCavaliers fans shouldn't worry about the short length of the deal, it's only a two-year deal because the league will have a new television deal in place for 2016 and likely a new collective bargaining agreement in 2017.
LBJ's deal in CLE for 2 yrs w/ player option | 07/12/2014 5:43 PM
NewsLeBron James has finalized his contract with the Cavs and it is for just two years, including an opt-out for next summer, and presumably a maximum amount of $42.1 million.
ImpactSources around the league had intimated that he wanted a short-term deal and this confirms that. ESPN reports that the motivation here is to maximize his next deal when the NBA's new television contract is in place, which they say could raise the salary cap to $80 million in 2016. There is also uncertainty with the current collective bargaining agreement starting in 2017, because the owners destroyed a leaderless Players Association during the last lockout. With the players all but certain to demand huge givebacks amidst skyrocketing franchise valuations, all signs point to LeBron being the centerpiece of an even more complicated Decision Part 3.
LeBron James announced in a letter on SI.com Friday that will return to the Cavaliers. | 07/11/2014 7:41 PM
NewsLeBron James announced in a letter on SI.com Friday that will return to the Cavaliers.
ImpactJames left Cleveland for the Miami Heat four years ago and made the last four NBA Finals, winning two. Now, he'll try to bring a championship back to his hometown.
Heat owner Micky Arison thanks LeBron James | 07/11/2014 2:40 PM
NewsHeat owner Micky Arison handled LeBron Jame's departure from Miami with class, thanking LeBron for his time.
Impact"I am shocked and disappointed in today's news," Arison wrote on his Twitter account. "However I will never forget what LeBron brought us for four years. Thanks for memories [LeBron James]."
Breaking: LeBron James to sign with Cavaliers | 07/11/2014 12:22 PM
NewsLeBron James will return to Cleveland as a member of the Cavaliers, he announced on Friday.
Report: Wade unsure which way LBJ is leaning | 07/11/2014 11:35 AM
NewsAfter flying with LeBron James from Las Vegas to Miami, Dwyane Wade was reportedly "still unsure" whether LeBron was favoring the Heat or Cavaliers.
Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter
ImpactThis non-update is par the course with LeBron's free agency. He met with the Heat on Wednesday but he's said nothing publicly, and it's not even guaranteed that he'll announce his decision before leaving for the World Cup final in Brazil this weekend. The longer he stays silent the more frenzied the speculation becomes -- his official website has been crashing due to heavy traffic for three days, and he's had more Google searches this week than at any point during the NBA's regular season.
Report: LeBron still upset about 'the letter' | 07/11/2014 10:18 AM
NewsCavaliers owner Dan Gilbert's infamous letter to LeBron James remains a complicating factor in James' decision whether to return to Cleveland, according to ESPN.com.
ImpactA source told Chris Broussard, "If it wasn't for that letter, this would've been done awhile ago." The letter's comic sans font has become a punchline in the four years since Gilbert wrote it following "The Decision," but it's vitriolic content is no laughing matter for James, and it won't be amusing to the Cavs either if he chooses to re-sign with Miami. LeBron is expected to announce his decision before leaving for the World Cup on Saturday, but there are no guarantees.
LeBron James flying back to Miami on Thurs. | 07/10/2014 11:53 PM
NewsLeBron James is traveling back to Miami on Thursday night and will then travel to Brazil.
Chris Broussard on Twitter
ImpactHe is expected to travel to Brazil on Saturday, so he'll have a little over a day to make his decision stateside. Of course, he could make his decision while in Brazil and do something associated with the World Cup -- ESPN does have a fancy set at the Copacabana beach after all. Regardless, it doesn't sound like we'll be hearing his decision on Thursday night.
LeBron not planning to travel to Ohio on Thur | 07/10/2014 6:27 PM
NewsLeBron James has no plans to travel to Ohio on Thursday, according to multiple media reports.
Ramona Shelburne on Twitter
ImpactJames has been at his basketball camp in Vegas for the past few days where he met with Pat Riley and has been visited by Dwyane Wade. Reports that he was to announce his decision around 3:00 pm ET on Thursday have proved to be erroneous, and it seems the waiting game for his announcement will continue.
Update: No extra police presence in Bath, OH | 07/10/2014 3:52 PM
NewsBath, Ohio police say they are not preparing for extra police details, according to NBC's Tom Winter.
ImpactSo goes the ongoing speculation surrounding LeBron. Whether he is or is not announcing his decision in the near future, the NBA world will remain on edge until he clarifies where he will be taking his talents to next.
Report: Bath, Ohio to increase police patrols | 07/10/2014 3:20 PM
NewsPolice in Bath, Ohio are expected to increase patrols near LeBron James' Akron home on Thursday after 3:00 pm ET, according to Phil Trexler of the Akron Beacon Journal.
Phil Trexler on Twitter
ImpactTrexler also mentions that an announcement is expected "tonight," although there have been no other mentions among media members about a definitive time-table for LeBron's decision. It is another interesting development in the LeBron James free agency saga. There seems to be a growing sentiment among fans and media members alike that James is preparing to return to Cleveland, but it's been mostly speculation to this point and only LeBron knows what his next move will be.
Reports: LeBron James done meeting with teams | 07/09/2014 10:53 PM
NewsLeBron James has all the information he needs from teams and will no longer take meetings, according to David Aldridge of NBA.com.
David Aldridge on Twitter
ImpactThe report has been confirmed by USA Today's Sam Amick, Marc Spears of Yahoo!, and ESPN's Chris Broussard, so these reports are almost factual. LeBron met with Heat president Pat Riley on Wednesday and didn't make a decision, so that will go down as one of the most important free agent meetings in NBA history. It's certainly interesting that he won't meet with the Cavs because David Blatt is new to being an NBA coach and David Griffin is their new general manager. Hopefully, he'll have a decision in the next couple days.
LeBron leaves meeting without making decision | 07/09/2014 7:39 PM
NewsLeBron James left the meeting with president Pat Riley without committing to a deal with the Heat, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter
ImpactThere are some reports surfacing that he's going to announce his decision on his website, but it's all just a guessing game right now. LeBron could make his decision before he goes to the World Cup Final on Sunday, but even that is just a guess at this point. The Heat may have been hoping to get a deal done, so today probably didn't go as well as they hoped.
LeBron James is at his Vegas basketball camp | 07/09/2014 2:33 PM
NewsLeBron James arrived for his basketball camp in Las Vegas on Wednesday, as expected.
Jeff Goodman on Twitter
ImpactLeBron Watch has taken over. He'll have a meeting with Pat Riley and his agent later today, but Dwyane Wade, Erik Spoelstra and Micky Arison will not. Yahoo! reported on Tuesday that James spent Monday night with Wade, so the two are still in contact. As strange as it seems, the Heat seem less likely to bring back LeBron compared to when he opted out last week.
Cavs clear max-salary offer for LeBron James | 07/09/2014 11:09 AM
NewsBy trading Jarrett Jack, Tyler Zeller and Sergey Karasev on Wednesday, the Cavaliers cleared enough cap space to offer LeBron James a max contract.
ImpactThe Cavs also gave up a future first-round pick to complete their cap-clearing trade, after LeBron's agent reportedly urged the Cavs to clear space for a max deal in recent days. The stage is now set for LBJ to choose between signing with the Heat or the Cavaliers, the two teams believed to be his finalists. James is scheduled to meet with the Heat on Wednesday afternoon, but there have been no indications of when he might announce his decision.
Report: LeBron narrows choice to MIA & CLE | 07/09/2014 12:24 AM
NewsAdrian Wojnarowski reportedly said on Fox Sports 1 Tuesday that LeBron James has narrowed his choices down to the Heat and Cavaliers.
ImpactIf Woj said it, it's likely true. And it makes sense, as those are the two teams we've been hearing about in regards to LeBron for several days. We're still not sure why he's not considering the Suns, as it seems like he'd be a perfect fit in Phoenix, but it sounds like he's either going to return to Miami or Cleveland. It likely depends on what Chris Bosh does, as he's considering a max offer from the Rockets. If Bosh breaks up the Big 3, LeBron could wait and see if Carmelo Anthony would join him (taking a pay cut) in Miami, or bolt for Cleveland, who now looks like a solid up-and-coming team. Either way, the deadline is drawing near and we expect a 'Decision' in the next few days. Stay tuned.
LeBron James to meet w/ Pat Riley on Wed. | 07/08/2014 6:40 PM
NewsLeBron James is expected to meet with Heat president Pat Riley on Wednesday in Las Vegas.
ImpactThe meeting has been known about for days, and Riley recently took steps to shape Miami's roster by agreeing to deals with free agents Josh McRoberts and Danny Granger. LBJ's agent has also met with the Cavaliers, Lakers, Mavericks, Rockets and Suns, but this feels like somewhat of a two-horse race between Miami and Cleveland. Free agent contracts can officially be signed on Thursday but there's no indication of when LeBron might make his decision.
Report: Heat confident they'll keep LeBron | 07/07/2014 12:17 PM
NewsThe Heat still have confidence they'll be able to keep unrestricted free agent LeBron James, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.
Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter
Impact"They know difference between his agent's agenda, and James' strong mind of his own," Wojnarowski said. It sounds like LeBron's agent, Rich Paul, would prefer to see LeBron back in Cleveland. While there is a ton of buzz and drama, the Heat are still where they want to be with all of their Big Three opting out to help open up some money to go after other free agents. His decision is not expected to come before Carmelo Anthony's.
Report: LeBron's agent pushing for Cleveland | 07/07/2014 9:55 AM
NewsLeBron James' agent is pushing for his client to return to Cleveland, according to Yahoo! Sports.
ImpactHere we go. "[Rich Paul] has confided to people that bringing back James to Cleveland has been something of a mission for him, and he's encouraging Cavaliers officials to offer no restraint in the recruitment of James," the report added. ESPN filed a report earlier this morning that LeBron is "legitimately listening" to the Cavs, so this Yahoo! report holds a little more weight. LeBron will meet with Pa Riley in the next few days, which will get just a bit of press after that goes down. To be clear, it doesn't sound like he's even close to making a decision.
Report: LeBron legitimately listening to Cavs | 07/07/2014 9:38 AM
NewsThe Cavaliers believe they have LeBron James "legitimately listening to their pitch" to sign a max deal, according to ESPN.com.
ImpactThis report comes from Brian Windhorst and Marc Stein, who have some serious credibility. Although, it does sound more like speculation and there is little factual info on LeBron outside of how he's meeting with Pat Riley in the next few days. There are some reports that the Heat Big Three could break up, but that could also all just be a smokescreen to get the Heat to make moves.
LeBron James to meet w/ Pat Riley this week | 07/06/2014 11:55 PM
NewsLeBron James is expected to meet with Heat president Pat Riley within the next 2-3 days.
ImpactThe Heat have never fallen out of the running for LeBron, but there's no clear indication whether he's leaning toward re-signing in Miami or going elsewhere. His agent recently met with the Cavaliers, Suns, Rockets, Mavericks, and Lakers, and plenty of teams (and players) are hedging their bets in free agency until LeBron has decided where he'll play next season. Stay tuned for more blow-by-blow updates in the coming days.
Cavs eye trade to offer max deal for LeBron | 07/06/2014 10:53 PM
NewsThe Cavaliers are reportedly hoping to trade Jarrett Jack to clear space for a maximum contract offer for LeBron James.
Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter
ImpactThe reported deal seems like it would send Jack to Brooklyn, with Marcus Thornton going to a third team. To be crystal clear, this does not signal that LBJ intends to sign in Cleveland. It only means that the Cavs are serious about bidding for his services, and LeBron's history with the franchise lends a fascinating sub-plot to this summer's free agent drama. LeBron has yet to announce whether he'll meet in person with interested teams, but his agent has already met with the Cavs, Lakers, Rockets and Suns.
Report: Big Three could be jarred loose | 07/05/2014 7:36 PM
NewsLeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh "could be jarred loose into seriously considering the free-agent market," according to Yahoo! Sports.
ImpactThere's a good chance this is all a smokescreen, but it's certainly making things extremely interesting. If LeBron does sign with the Heat, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade won't be far behind. LeBron's agent has been taking plenty of meetings, and this Yahoo! report says the Suns are a darkhorse. Stay tuned.
LeBron James' agent meets with the Lakers | 07/04/2014 4:21 PM
NewsLeBron James' agent, Rich Paul, met with the Lakers in Cleveland on Friday.
David Aldridge on Twitter
ImpactPaul has now met with the Lakers, Suns, Cavaliers, Suns and Rockets in the past two days. LeBron is expected to take meetings in the near future, but he's expected to enjoy the holiday weekend with his family. It's still not clear of James' intentions with these meetings, but it's certainly possible this is just a smokescreen and a way to put pressure on Pat Riley to make moves. Obviously, Riley is in no position to try and call LeBron's bluff.
Report: LeBron James may meet with teams | 07/04/2014 10:42 AM
NewsLeBron James' agent reportedly suggested to the teams that met with him that if Pat Riley fails to quickly bring in a strong supporting cast, James would be willing to meet in person with his prospective suitors.
ImpactRich Paul, James' agent, met with the Cavs, Mavs, and Suns, on Wednesday and Thursday. James is asking for a max contract, but there's reportedly been a disconnect between Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, and LeBron James on the financial terms of a new deal. "There's clearly a breakdown in communication between LeBron and [Wade and Bosh]," one executive who participated in the meetings over the past two days told Yahoo Sports. "[James is] giving Riley time to go get players for them but if that doesn't happen in the next few days. LeBron seems ready to explore the market."
LeBron's agent met w/ Suns, Cavs, Mavs & HOU | 07/03/2014 8:48 PM
NewsLeBron James' agent, Rich Paul, has met with the Cavaliers, Mavericks, Suns and Rockets about a contract.
Marc Stein on Twitter
ImpactLeBron is on vacation and just got back to Miami today. It's still hard to believe he would sign anywhere else because he would really be betraying Dwyane Wade, who just opted out of the last part of his deal of two years for $41.5 million. No decision is imminent on LeBron and the former MVP is not scheduled to meet with any teams.
Suns owner meets with LeBron James' agent | 07/03/2014 8:22 PM
NewsSuns owner Robert Sarver was in Cleveland on Wednesday to meet with LeBron James' agent, Rich Paul.
Chris Broussard on Twitter
ImpactOnly the Heat have more cap space than the Suns, so they're hoping to get a James-Melo or James-Bosh duo in the desert. It would be a total shock for the Suns to bring in LeBron, so we can dismiss this meeting for now. LeBron is going to take the weekend to spend some time with his family and is unlikely to make a decision in the next few days.
LeBron to return from vacation Thursday night | 07/03/2014 3:07 PM
NewsLeBron James will return from his island vacation this weekend and will spend the holiday weekend in Miami.
Ethan Skolnick on Twitter
ImpactHe doesn't have any meetings scheduled with teams yet and there appears to be no decision imminent. Teams will have to stay patient and keep their plans on hold, which is likely to delay free agent signings in general. James is seeking a max deal and Miami is the heavy favorite to bring him back.
LeBron James to Heat not certain just yet | 07/02/2014 7:35 PM
NewsLeBron James is unsure what he will do about his free-agency situation, according to ESPN.com.
ImpactThe Heat basically have Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade all set up, but even a max deal from Miami isn't a 100 percent lock. Although, the Heat are the heavy favorites and it would be a shock to see him in any other uniform next season. James probably won't make his decision on TV like the last time around and there's no word on when he'll be signing his contract.
Report: LeBron wants 1-2 year deal w/ Heat | 07/01/2014 2:20 PM
NewsLeBron James is seeking a maximum salary on a short-term contract with the Heat which would expire after 1-2 years, according to John Canzano of the Oregonian.
John Canzano on Twitter
ImpactSuch a deal would theoretically allow LBJ to play a few more years with Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade before their declining play closes the championship window, at which point he could seek his fortunes elsewhere as a free agent. He'd hit free agency again as a 31-year-old if he does sign a two-year deal, setting him up for another massive multi-year pact.
LeBron's agent to meet w/ teams this weekend | 06/30/2014 11:53 PM
NewsLeBron James' agent will meet with prospective suitors this weekend, but James will not attend the meetings himself.
Gary Washburn on Twitter
ImpactJames is taking steps to avoid the circus from last free agency period and the Heat's Big Three are giving Pat Riley time to organize his pitch. This will be one of many updates on James in the next few weeks.
Heat Big Three to give Riley time to work | 06/30/2014 10:04 PM
NewsLeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh plan to give Pat Riley "a window to enact his plan to rebuild the supporting cast."
Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter
ImpactThis makes sense and as of now all signs point to LeBron staying in Miami, but as usual things could change depending on how Riley does. We'll keep you updated as LeBron-a-palooza continues down a less ridiculous, but equally as dominating role as it did the last time he was a free agent.
LeBron James seeking a max deal with MIA | 06/30/2014 7:36 PM
NewsLeBron James is reportedly seeking a max contract in excess of $20 million per season.
South Florida Sun-Sentinel
ImpactHe certainly has earned it, bringing home two championship trophies to Miami in his four years there. James has never been the highest-paid player on his team, but that will change once the Big Three have renegotiated their deals. James will be able to sign a five-year deal with Miami, and a four-year deal if he chooses to go somewhere else. However, according to one NBA executive, there's a general consensus around the league that James will be returning to Miami, and most teams have already turned to their Plan B.
Suns pursue LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony | 06/29/2014 12:58 PM
NewsThe Suns will reportedly try and lure LeBron James away from Miami on the prospective of playing alongside Carmelo Anthony.
ImpactThe Suns currently have $33.5 million in salary cap space, and they could shed an additional $10 million without losing Eric Bledsoe, Goran Dragic, or Miles Plumlee. That would give them enough space to sign both LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony, or a free agent of his choosing. That's all well and good, but LeBron already has two stars with him in Miami, in addition to Miami having an even better salary cap situation with $55 million in cap space. There will be plenty of teams going after James in free agency, but as it stands right now, it's difficult to see him bolting a team that went to the Finals for four consecutive seasons.
The Big Three discussing contract options | 06/29/2014 10:32 AM
NewsLeBron James, Chris Bosh, and Dwyane Wade have been discussing the financial terms of new contracts amongst each other, according to sources.
ImpactJames has never once in his career been the highest-paid player on his team, but that will likely change when the Big Three sign their new deals. The Miami trio has been discussing three different possible scenarios for restructuring their contracts. The first, and least likely, involves all three resigning and taking a maximum salary starting at around $22 million each. The second involves each member taking significant pay cuts in order to chase another major free agent. And the third, and probably most likely, involves the Miami stars taking moderate pay cuts, and staggering their salaries at different levels. The fact that the Big Three have set aside time to discuss contract options amongst themselves, partnered with the fact that James has yet to schedule meetings with any other clubs, gives credence to the belief that King James will be returning to Miami.
LeBron James hasn't scheduled any meetings | 06/28/2014 9:46 PM
NewsFree agent LeBron James has yet to schedule meetings with any teams and it's possible he only meets with one - the Miami Heat.
ImpactTeams that were hoping to meet with Bron to make their pitch haven't been able to schedule a meeting, and this is just another sign that LeBron, along with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, are all set to return to the Heat. It's possible that James ends up talking to some other teams at some point, but it would not be surprising if he re-signs with Miami without talking to anyone else.
LeBron James still seeking a max contract | 06/28/2014 5:55 PM
NewsLeBron James is seeking a full max contract extension "or something close to it" to stay in Miami, according to Yahoo! Sports.
ImpactDwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem have already officially opted out while Chris Bosh should be opting out in the very near future. LeBron would be eligible for a five-year, $130 million deal and obviously deserves it as a four-time MVP. Today's developments speak volumes about LeBron staying in Miami and it would be a shock to see him land anywhere else at this point.
Dirk: Lebron 'can have keys to the city' | 06/26/2014 2:24 PM
NewsDirk Nowitzki's recruiting pitch to free agent Lebron James would including telling James "C'mon, you can have the keys to the city."
ImpactDirk has been the man in Dallas for over a decade, but has expressed his willingness to no longer be the main option for the Mavericks as he enters the twilight of his career. They've already made a major move this offseason by reacquiring center Tyson Chandler from the Knicks and hope to also add either Lebron or Carmelo Anthony in free agency.
LeBron James sits down with Wade and Bosh | 06/26/2014 12:56 PM
NewsLeBron James met with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh on Wednesday to discuss free agency plans.
ImpactAs they did before their 2010 signings in South Beach, the Big 3 met on Wednesday and consulted each other regarding free agency plans. Each player is in a different situation than in 2010, however, so we could see a very different outcome as James has already opted out of his contract while Wade and Bosh each have a decision to make on their own opt-out clauses. James will also reportedly sit down with fellow unrestricted free agent Carmelo Anthony to discuss teaming up, so there doesn't seem to be a quick resolution in sight to this situation.
Report: LeBron James intrigued by Clippers | 06/24/2014 3:22 PM
NewsLeBron James reportedly views a sign-and-trade deal sending him to the Clippers as "intriguing," but a return with the Heat remains his "primary consideration."
ImpactAccording to the report by Adrian Wojnarowski, LeBron doesn't want to make any decisions until he sits down with Dwyane Wade and Chris Both to discuss Pat Riley's plans to improve Miami's roster. Every team in the league would love to sign LeBron, of course, and the Rockets, Bulls and Cavaliers are also contenders for his services.
LeBron James' agent has informed the Heat that James will opt out of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent, according to Chris Broussard of ESPN. | 06/24/2014 3:00 PM
NewsLeBron James' agent has informed the Heat that James will opt out of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent, according to Chris Broussard of ESPN.
ImpactLook for LeBron to handle his free agency this offseason much better than he did in 2010. The Heat, Bulls, Lakers, Rockets and Cavaliers are among the teams expected to make a serious run at signing him.
Lakers are interested in LeBron James | 06/24/2014 1:53 PM
NewsThe Los Angeles Lakers are interested in new unrestricted free agent LeBron James.
ImpactWhile we could likely write this same blurb for 29 other teams now that James has officially opted out of his final two years, the Lakers are hoping to meet with James while "moving cautiously." The Lakers are also reportedly interested in Carmelo Anthony, but indications are that they're more interested in acquiring James' services. While James would have to take a pay cut in order to join the Lake Show, the Lakers could waive Steven Nash' contract via the stretch provision and James could also be swayed by the perks that would come with playing in Hollywood.
LeBron James tells Heat he's opting out | 06/24/2014 9:43 AM
NewsLeBron James' agent Rich Paul has told the Heat that James will exercise his early termination option and become an unrestricted free agent, according to Chris Broussard.
ImpactLet the games begin! Teams can't officially make an offer to James until 12:01 AM on July 1, but it goes without saying that the line outside James' door will be 30 teams deep. LeBron's decision to opt out doesn't change the fact that the Heat are still the frontrunners to keep his talents in South Beach, but we expect teams like the Bulls, Lakers, Cavaliers, and others to put the full-court press on James. LeBron will reportedly take some time to talk things over with his family as well as with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, so we'll likely have to wait a bit before we know what his decision will be.
The Heat want ready to-go talent in draft | 06/23/2014 5:18 PM
NewsThe Heat are looking to acquire a rookie that can contribute immediately with their No. 26 pick in the 2014 draft.
South Florida Sun-Sentinel
Impact"We're more about having a player contribute immediately," Heat VP of Personnel Chet Kammerer said. "When I say, 'Our 20,' that's because we eliminate people who we really think could be good, but you're going to have to wait two or three years. We prefer to draft someone because of our situation, someone who can contribute immediately." Miami's primary need is at center and point guard, as Chalmers is set to become a free agent, and they're rather thin upfront. However, there aren't many big men in this year's draft class, so one could expect them to make an upgrade at the wing position.

NewsHouston's top priority this offseason is to land LeBron James in free agency. SOURCE: Howard Beck, Bleacher Report
ImpactA frontcourt of James, Chandler Parsons and Dwight Howard would instantly make the Rockets championship contenders. Of course, LeBron would have to opt out of his current deal with Miami to make that happen. The deadline for LeBron to opt in or out is June 30th. Though Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh seem content to stay in Miami, James has been noncommital about his future. The Cavs, Clippers and Mavericks could also make a run at James if he decides to test the open market.
Report: Rockets all out in pursuit of LeBron | 06/20/2014 10:16 PM
NewsThe Rockets will go all out in their pursuit of LeBron James during free agency.
Howard Beck on Twitter
ImpactOf course they will. The Rockets are also reportedly interested in Carmelo Anthony and Chris Bosh if they're unable to pry James away from Miami. Howard Beck lays out the plan for acquiring James, which would include trading Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin. Given the fact that Houston has been able to land James Harden and Dwight Howard the past two years, they can't be ruled out in the chase, and theoretically they might give him the best path to a chip. Still, it's a bit early to get hot and bothered about this report.
Cavs getting Blatt hurts chances on LeBron | 06/19/2014 11:26 PM
NewsIf the Cavs finalize a deal with David Blatt to be their head coach, the team will not have any chance of signing LeBron James in free agency, according to Chris Broussard of ESPN.com and Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe.
Chris Broussard on Twitter
ImpactIt always comes back to LeBron. James is likely to opt out of his deal, but it would be a shock for him not to sign with the Heat on a long-term deal. Although, Pat Riley didn't seem overly confident in his Thursday press conference about bring LeBron back.
Report: LeBron 'very likely' to stay in Miami | 06/18/2014 4:46 PM
NewsLeBron James is "very likely" to stay with the Heat, a source told the Sporting News.
ImpactThe source adds that LeBron didn't like how he was perceived following his decision to leave Cleveland. He is on vacation for a few days, but there seems to be a sense he will opt out of his current deal with the Heat. Las Vegas puts the Cavs as the second most likely to bring sign LeBron but it would a shock at this point. You can expect plenty more reports until he makes his decision.
LeBron James uncertain whether he'll out out | 06/17/2014 5:54 PM
NewsLeBron James hasn't yet decided whether to opt out of his contract with the Heat this summer.
Joe Goodman on Twitter
Impact"The decision comes down to me and my family. If my family is happy, then I'm happy and can play at a high level," said LeBron, before adding, "I like talking about money. I like money." LBJ, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade all have early termination options, but so far none of them have announced their decision. Of the three players, D-Wade seems the least likely to opt out since he's slated to earn $41.8 million over the next two seasons, far more than he'd command in free agency.
LeBron James not looking to save Heat money | 06/17/2014 9:27 AM
NewsLeBron James is not interested in taking a pay cut to save the Heat money, according to sources.
NY Daily News
ImpactJames has the option of opting out of his contract this summer to become an unrestricted free agent, but would be owed $20.6 in 2014-15 and $22.1 million in 2015-16 if he decides not to opt out. One line of thinking is that LeBron could opt out of his contract and take a pay cut so the Heat can add to their roster, but team insiders insist that James isn't looking to save the Heat luxury tax money and wants a commitment from the team to spend any saved money on adding players. With Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade in similar contractual situations, LeBron's decision will likely cause a domino affect that will either keep the Big 3 in Miami or send Decision-like waves across the NBA landscape.
LeBron James' solo act isn't enough for Heat | 06/15/2014 11:31 PM
NewsMiami's season ended on Sunday with an 87-104 defeat in San Antonio, despite LeBron James' team-high 31 points, three 3-pointers, 10 rebounds, five assists and two blocks.
ImpactLeBron led his team in all of the above-mentioned categories, while turning the ball over just once in 41 minutes. The Heat opened up a 22-6 lead just seven minutes into the first quarter, shattering their previous series-high lead in the Finals, but they quickly gave it back and lost the second and third quarters by a combined 26 points. Miami's roster is in tumult this summer, with Norris Cole under a guaranteed contract, and LeBron himself could test free agency by turning down $42 million over the next two seasons.
LeBron James not worried by 1-3 deficit | 06/15/2014 9:56 AM
NewsLeBron James is not being deterred by the 1-3 deficit Miami currently faces, saying "Why not us," when asked what his pregame message will be to his teammates before Sunday's Game 5.
Impact"Why not us? History is broken all the time," James said. "There was a point where no team came back from a 3‑1 deficit in the Western Conference Finals, and then Phoenix did it [against the Lakers in 2006]. One of our teammates was on that team, James Jones... So history is made to be broken, and why not me be a part of it?" It's unlikely that James' Miami is going to be able to create history against a team as historically great as the Spurs, but James isn't backing down from the challenge. Miami will need a much stronger effort collectively if they hope to push the series to a Game 6.
LeBron prefers missing playoffs over no title | 06/14/2014 6:08 PM
NewsLeBron James said on Saturday that he would rather miss the playoffs than not win a championship.
Ira Winderman on Twitter
Impact"I'd rather get my two months off," James said. People will probably take this the wrong way just because LeBron is such a lightning rod for the trolls, but it's not an outlandish statement at all. Winning a title obviously means a lot to him and losing is never easy after a lengthy run in the postseason. His ankle is fine and he'll look to extend his season on Sunday.
Finals results will not affect LeBron James | 06/13/2014 5:15 PM
NewsLeBron James' decision on whether or not to remain with Miami will not be dependent upon the results of this year's Finals, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.
ImpactThe report did not mention what factors would influence LeBron's desire to stay, but Miami is a quality organization that has made four consecutive trips to the Finals, so there's not really a better option out there for James. All three of Miami's Big Three have early termination options in their contracts and each could elect to test free agency as unrestricted free agent at the conclusion of this season. However, given Dwyane Wade's less-than-stellar play throughout the 2013-14 season, it seems it would be in Wade's best interest to opt-in, as he'd likely take a pay cut as a free agent.
LeBron James says he has an injured ankle | 06/13/2014 12:42 AM
NewsLeBron James said he has played through an injured ankle in the past few days.
Joseph Goodman on Twitter
ImpactHe hasn't really been limping and has looked great outside of being a bit turnover prone. James said he did not feel like it's "all on his shoulders" in this series, which has not what anyone will say who has watched the past two games. Obviously, LeBron will be ready for Game 5 on Sunday.
LeBron James doesn't get help, Heat lose | 06/12/2014 11:39 PM
NewsLeBron James didn't get much help from his team during Game 4's loss on Thursday, making 10-of-17 from the field for 28 points with eight boards, two assists, four 3-pointers and three turnovers.
ImpactHe had his best game of the series and this one is not on him. James has been outstanding throughout the series on the stat sheet, averaging 27.5 points, 7.3 boards, 3.8 assists, 2.5 steals and 2.8 triples on 60.0 percent from the field. He went to the locker room to go to the bathroom during the first quarter and it didn't seem to affect him. The Heat have to get him some help big time.
LeBron James goes to the locker room | 06/12/2014 9:25 PM
NewsLeBron James went to the locker room with an undisclosed injury during the first quarter of Game 4 and returned minutes later.
ImpactHe went back to the locker room and everything seems to be fine. We'll be adding more to this update as the information becomes available. James looks like he's fine.
Heat defense sputters as Spurs take 2-1 lead | 06/11/2014 1:42 AM
NewsLeBron James and Dwyane Wade each scored 22 points in Game 3, but LeBron also had seven turnovers while scoring only eight points after the first quarter in a 92-111 home loss.
ImpactThe Heat turned it over 20 times, committed 26 personal fouls, and squandered an otherwise solid offensive performance in which they shot 51.6 percent from the field and 47.6 percent from downtown. Kawhi Leonard's offensive eruption forced LeBron to expend energy on defense, which may have been part of the reason LBJ attempted a mere five shots in the second half. He added five rebounds, seven assists and five steals, while D-Wade hit 8-of-12 FGs with four rebounds and two steals, and the Heat will look to shore up their defense for Thursday's Game 4.
Heat tie Finals at 1-1 behind LeBron's 35 pts | 06/08/2014 11:11 PM
NewsLeBron James wasn't bothered by dehydration or cramping on Sunday, contributing 35 points, three 3-pointers, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals in Miami's Game 2 victory.
ImpactLeBron said before the game that he didn't feel "normal" but that wasn't obvious on the court, as he finished 14-of-22 from the field and 4-of-5 at the free throw line. He lived in the paint in the second quarter but did all of his damage from outside the paint in the second half, befuddling the Spurs' defense. When Gregg Popovich was asked after the game why he didn't trap and double-team LeBron with the ball, he replied, "He's a pretty good player ... I'm pretty sure he'll find the open man."
LeBron James 'ready to go' for Game 2 | 06/08/2014 7:07 PM
NewsLeBron James (cramping) confirmed that he's "ready to go" for Game 2.
Greg Cote on Twitter
ImpactJames added that he still doesn't feel "normal" after suffering with dehydration and cramping in Game 1, but coach Erik Spoelstra confirmed that he won't have any minute restrictions. If Miami's team MVP is limited in any way, the Heat could head home for Game 3 facing a daunting 0-2 deficit.
LeBron James 'feels better' before Game 2 | 06/08/2014 2:20 PM
NewsHeat coach Erik Spoelstra said on Sunday that LeBron James "feels better" and hasn't mentioned any lingering effects from the dehydration and cramping he suffered during Game 1.
ImpactLeBron practiced on Saturday and reported steady improvement, and he won't face any limitations unless the cramping returns unexpectedly. It helps that Miami has had two days off since Thursday's sweltering Game 1 defeat, and the temperature should no longer be a factor now that the AT&T Center's air conditioning has been repaired.
LeBron James (leg) gets treatment on Saturday | 06/07/2014 2:07 PM
NewsLeBron James (leg) received treatment on his left leg on Saturday.
Marc Spears on Twitter
ImpactCoach Erik Spoelstra said the extra day off has been very helpful to LeBron, but his star forward was a bit limited in practice. He is still expected to play and the Heat will undoubtedly be giving him plenty of extra fluids in preparation for Game 2 on Sunday.
LeBron James will suit up for Game 2 on Sun. | 06/06/2014 4:27 PM
NewsAs if there was any doubt, LeBron James confirmed during Friday's press conference that he'll be ready to go for Game 2 on Sunday.
Impact"I'll be all right. I'll be in uniform on Sunday. I should be 100% on Sunday," said James. An interesting statistic, Miami has won two of their last three Finals appearances despite starting off the series 0-1. While San Antonio looked fantastic during Game 1, they did commit 23 turnovers, and that's not a trend that can continue if they hope to hoist the Larry O'Brien trophy when all is said and done. There's still a lot of series left, so don't write off the back-to-back defending champs just yet.
LeBron James took seven cramping pills Game 1 | 06/06/2014 2:37 PM
NewsErik Spoelstra stated during Friday's presser that LeBron James took seven "cramping pills" during Game 1.
Joseph Goodman on Twitter
ImpactSpoelstra also opened up the presser by saying "Questions: cramp-gate?" This cramping issue has probably got a lot more attention than it deserved, but that is generally the case when dealing with a superstar such as LeBron. LeBron said that he is still feeling "pretty sore," but with the next game not coming until Sunday, he should be fine. Miami has won 12 in a row by a margin of 15+ points following a loss in the playoffs, so expect LeBron to come out with some fire for Game 2 to put an end to the unwarranted criticism.
Lebrun gets 2.5 bags of fluid through IV | 06/06/2014 9:14 AM
NewsLeBron James (leg) received at least 2.5 bags of fluid through his IV following Game 1 on Thursday.
ImpactThis story has created some of absurd ridicule through things like social media. From retired offensive tackle Jonathan Martin questioning LeBron's toughness to the official Gatorade twitter account saying, "the person cramping wasn't our client. Our athletes can take the heat." James has dealt with cramping throughout his career and perhaps his only mistake was going back out to play. The good news is that it doesn't sound like it will be a costly mistakes since LeBron sounds like he'll be ready for Game 2. Stay tuned for an update.
LeBron James leaves arena under own power | 06/06/2014 1:03 AM
NewsLeBron James left AT&T Center under his own power and without the use of crutches on Thursday.
Ken Berger on Twitter
ImpactHe spoke to a pool reporter and said he was "feeling better." James called his injury frustrating and he was upset that he couldn't help his team in a loss. He also said the time off until Sunday should help him and he'll get some extra fluids to prepare him for Game 2. Most signs point to him being ready, so the Heat will likely have their former MVP on the court.
LeBron James does not return from leg cramps | 06/06/2014 12:50 AM
NewsLeBron James did not return to Game 1's 110-95 loss to the Spurs due to leg cramps, finishing with 25 points, six boards, three assists, three steals and two 3-pointers in 33 minutes.
Marc Spears on Twitter
ImpactHe received an IV after the game and did not speak to reporters. James has dealt with cramping throughout his career, most recently on May 24 and also dealing with it in the regular season. Coach Erik Spoelstra said LeBron tried to go back in the game, but he told him, "don't even think about it." Dwyane Wade said his teammate will be suiting up in Game 2, and we should know more Friday morning. The good news for Miami is that Game 2 isn't until Sunday.
LeBron James leaves game with leg issue | 06/05/2014 11:24 PM
NewsLeBron James suffered a leg injury in the fourth quarter vs. the Spurs on Thursday.
ImpactHe looks like he was cramping, so of course this will trigger a lot of talk about the air conditioning going out. James received some treatment on the bench and the training staff has tried to cool him down. We'll pass along any info as it becomes available.
LeBron James calls legacy talk "stupid" | 06/05/2014 9:39 AM
NewsOn the eve of Thursday's Game 1 of the NBA finals, LeBron James called talk of his legacy premature and "stupid."
ImpactThe NBA Finals don't start until Thursday night, but talk of how the 29-year-old's career will be defined by this finals has run rampant over the past week. As he prepares for his fourth final in as many years, LeBron wasn't in the mood to talk about his legacy. "My legacy will speak for itself after I'm done playing," James said on Wednesday. "It's something I can't control. I worry about what I can control, and that's how I approach the game on and off the floor, every single day." LeBron became the target of quite a few jokes after his "Not one, not two, not three..." proclamation upon signing with the Heat, but a win over the Spurs would go a long way towards ending those jokes and further solidifying James' legacy.
LeBron James not concerned with offseason yet | 06/03/2014 12:52 PM
NewsLeBron James is focused on the NBA finals and isn't thinking about his potential free agency after season ends.
ImpactJames can opt out of his Heat contract after the season is over, but he is insistent that his offseason plans are the furthest thing from his mind right now. "No, because I live in the moment," James said when asked if he's thought about what he'll do after the season. "It's almost the same with my individual accomplishments. I never really understand them. The only time I'll be able to appreciate it is when I'm done playing the game. I'm in the moment. I don't even think about it." There have been rumors circulating that LeBron may be interested in returning to the Cavaliers, but that seems to be a remote possibility as the Heat begin their fourth NBA finals in four years starting Thursday night.
LeBron James makes All-Defensive Second Team | 06/02/2014 3:53 PM
NewsLeBron James made the 2013-14 All-Defensive Second Team.
Marc J. Spears on Twitter
ImpactThis is the first time since 2008 that James did not make the All-Defensive First Team, and it looks like because both Paul George and Andre Iguodala were able to receive votes as both guards and forwards, they were able to edge out LeBron this year. However, with four MVP awards, two championships, and two Finals MVP awards, James could probably care less about this years snubbing.
LBJ, Heat punch ticket to 4th straight Finals | 05/30/2014 11:45 PM
NewsLeBron James scored 25 points on 8-of-12 shooting with four rebounds, six assists, one steal and one block as the Heat annihilated the Pacers in Friday's clinching Game 6 win.
ImpactThe game wasn't nearly as close as the 117-92 score would suggest and at the middle of it was LeBron, who may not be playing the best playoff ball of his career but it's pretty darn close. The trip to the Finals is the team's fourth in a row, and with wins over both remaining squads from the West in the past two years the Heat have to feel good about their chances.
Foul trouble dooms LeBron James in Game 5 | 05/28/2014 11:44 PM
NewsLeBron James was in foul trouble all night and hit just 2-of-10 shots for seven points, two assists, four rebounds, a block and a 3-pointer in just 24 minutes of Wednesday's Game 5 loss at Indiana.
ImpactLeBron finished with five fouls and never got it going tonight, although he did hit a big 3-pointer late in the game. He also chose to pass to Chris Bosh for a missed 3-pointer on the last possession of the game, instead of driving for a game-tying layup, which will be a point of controversy between now and Friday. The Heat lead the series 3-2 and have a chance to close out the series on Friday at home. Chris Bosh added 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Dwyane Wade was solid again with 18 points and a full stat line. But in the end, LeBron's foul trouble and limited minutes, as well as Paul George playing like vintage LeBron, will be the story lines heading into Game 6.
LeBron James gets in Pacers' heads, scores 32 | 05/26/2014 11:43 PM
NewsLeBron James had his way with the Pacers during Game 4's easy 102-90 win, making 13-of-21 from the field for 32 points with 10 boards, five assists, two steals and two 3-pointers.
ImpactThe Heat had just way too many easy buckets tonight. They shot 19-of-25 in the paint for their 38 points from there while putting in 20 points off turnovers. James has a sterling 62.7 effective field goal percentage in this series and he's shot below 50 percent just once in his 13 playoff games while scoring at a 29 points-per-game clip. Lance Stephenson has totally gotten into his head, though.
Lance Stephenson still talking about LeBron | 05/26/2014 9:16 AM
NewsLance Stephenson called it a "sign of weakness" that LeBron James responded to his taunts in Saturday's Game 3.
ImpactIf scoring 26 points on 14 shots is a sign of weakness, we sure would like to know what a sign of strength would mean. LeBron was in a groove all game and the Heat still rolled on Saturday despite starting the game in a 17-4 hole. Stephenson and the Pacers will have their hands full in Game 4 on Monday.
LeBron James, Heat win Game 3 in blowout | 05/24/2014 11:12 PM
NewsLeBron James and the Heat were down by 15 early in Saturday's Game 3, but went on a n 18-5 run in the fourth quarter to run away from the Pacers and win 99-87.
ImpactIt was a close game until Ray Allen went on a shooting spree, and LeBron finished with 26 points, four rebounds, seven assists, four steals and a 3-pointer on 9-of-13 shooting. The Heat now lead 2-1 and Game 4 is on Monday in Miami. LeBron left the game briefly with cramping, when Ray Allen took over from downtown, and James was able to return with no lingering effects.
LeBron James nearing 1,000 playoff assists | 05/23/2014 6:11 PM
NewsLeBron James is just 23 assists shy of reaching 1,000 in his playoff career.
Tim Reynolds on Twitter
ImpactThere are currently only nine NBA players with that many postseason assists, and Tony Parker will soon be the 10th (currently at 999). That is impressive, especially with how much career LeBron has left. LeBron is averaging 28.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists, so it's possible he reaches the 1,000 mark by the end of this year's Finals.
LeBron James return to Cavaliers unlikely | 05/22/2014 9:44 AM
NewsThe odds of LeBron James returning to the Cavaliers are slim, according to personnel around the league.
Akron Beacon Journal
ImpactWith the Cavs winning the 2014 NBA Draft lottery, there were renewed rumors that LeBron may consider returning to the Cavaliers if he opts out of his Miami Heat contract after playoffs end, but rival personnel and agents don't think there's any merit to that rumor. "It'll be a short conversation," one agent said. "No thank you and have a nice day." The Cavs are reportedly looking into acquiring Kevin Love in order to entice LeBron back to his home state, but it sounds like the odds of him returning are less than the 1.7 percent odds that the Cavaliers had of winning the lottery.
LeBron James carries Heat late in Game 2 win | 05/20/2014 11:16 PM
NewsLeBron James hit 9-of-18 shots and a 3-pointer for 22 points, seven rebounds, six assists, two steals and three blocks in Tuesday's 87-83 Game 2 win over the Pacers in Indiana.
ImpactLeBron and Dwyane Wade combined to score 22 of the Heat's 25 points in the fourth quarter, when the Heat finally took control of the game. Game 3 doesn't take place until Saturday in Miami, giving the worn down Heat starters three full days of rest. The series is now tied 1-1 and LeBron took over in the fourth quarter after a very quiet opening period.
Lebron James not comfortable guarding West | 05/20/2014 3:33 PM
NewsLebron James admitted that guarding David West in Game 1 was "definitely a challenge."
Impact"I could do a lot of things," he said. "But I've made my money being a perimeter guy. And obviously, from the circumstances of our team, we're not the biggest team in the world, so I have to play big at times. I have to guard bigger guys, and try to do a number on them too." When asked if there are many guys who can over power him, James replied, "No, it's like David West, Shaq, Zeus and my two boys, that's it." The Heat may be looking to change their defensive game plan. Erik Spoelstra would not reveal his starting lineup for Game 2 and Udonis Haslem is expected to see increased minutes.
LeBron James drops 25 points in loss on Sun. | 05/18/2014 6:31 PM
NewsLeBron James scored 25 points with 10 boards, five assists, three steals, one 3-pointer and four turnovers in Game 1's 107-96 loss to the Pacers.
ImpactMiami shot just 10-of-15 from the line and it was just the ninth time they made 10 or less free throws in any game this year -- they were 7-2 in those previous games. They were also able to rack up a whopping 54 points in the paint while also coming through with 21 fast-break points, so it the loss wasn't due to lack of offense. James had his fair share of highlight-reel passes, but his team just couldn't stop Indiana from getting to the rim.
LeBron James scores 29, Heat advance past BK | 05/14/2014 10:18 PM
NewsLeBron James scored a team-high 29 points during Wednesday's series-clinching victory over the Nets to go with nine boards, five assists, one block, two 3-pointers and five turnovers in 44 minutes.
ImpactHe shot 15-of-17 from the line tonight while his teammates made all 14 of their free throws, which is a big reason why they were able to move on to the next round. The Heat were ice cold from beyond the arc to start this game, making just 1-of-16 from deep (6.3 percent) in the first half, but turned it around and made 8-of-13 (61.5 percent) in the second. They outscored the Nets 30-19 in the fourth quarter and LeBron was responsible for 14 of those. To the surprise of nobody, the Heat will be in the Eastern Conference Finals with a postseason record of 8-1.
LeBron James disappointed with missed FT | 05/13/2014 11:13 AM
NewsLeBron James was disappointed with his missed free throw with one second left in Monday's Game 4 win over the Nets.
New York Daily News
ImpactDespite the victory over Brooklyn, LeBron's missed free throw kept him one point short of the 50-point threshold. "That's the first time I've been disappointed with myself in a win," he said. "It's a free throw, and I hate missing free throws." Despite the missed free throw and opportunity for 50 points, James absolutely dominated the game with 49 points on 16-of-24 shooting to go with six boards, two dimes, and three steals. LeBron will get another shot at 50 on Wednesday night as the Heat attempt to close out the series back in Miami.
LeBron scores 49 points in Game 4 win | 05/12/2014 11:07 PM
NewsLeBron James scored 49 points on 16-of-24 shooting (3-of-6 3PTs, 14-of-19 FTs) with six rebounds, two assists and three steals in Monday's Game 4 win over the Nets.
ImpactThe Heat seemingly struggle and the Nets continue to give it their best and the two teams are simply in different classes. Tonight, LeBron got just enough from Dwyane Wade (15 points, 7-of-13 FGs) and Chris Bosh (12 points, five rebounds, two steals, three blocks) to offset just 26 points from the rest of his teammates. If you want to pick nits it appeared at times like LeBron didn't trust his teammates to make plays, and that could become a factor when the competition stiffens down the road.
LeBron James scores 28 in first loss | 05/10/2014 11:03 PM
NewsLeBron James had 28 points, eight rebounds, five assists, a steal, a block and three 3-pointers on 8-of-15 shooting in Saturday's Game 3 104-90 loss to the Nets.
ImpactHe was highly aggressive in the first quarter but then mysteriously stopped shooting. Look for him to be more aggressive in Monday's Game 4. The Heat lead the series 2-1, despite tonight's loss. Dwyane Wade scored 20 points and Chris Bosh added 12 points, five rebounds and three blocks in the loss, and they were the only Heat players to score in double digits in this one.
LeBron James turns in a solid game vs. Nets | 05/08/2014 10:30 PM
NewsLeBron James scored a game-high 22 points vs. the Nets during Game 2's 94-82 win on Thursday, adding four boards, three assists, two steals and one block in 39 minutes.
ImpactThe Heat were hardly at their best tonight and they still were able to get a win thanks to the Nets inept offense. Brooklyn was successful in the post for much of the season, but coach Erik Spoelstra did a great job of bringing double teams to neutralize that advantage. The Heat also turned the ball over just eight times and had great composure all night. They'll look to take a commanding 3-0 lead at Barclays Center on Saturday night.
LeBron scores 22 as Heat crush Nets in Game 1 | 05/06/2014 9:28 PM
NewsLeBron James hit 10-of-15 shots for 22 points, five rebounds and three assists as the Heat crushed the Nets 107-86 for an easy win in Game 1 of their playoff series.
ImpactUnlike the first round, the second round has gotten off to a lackluster start, with every game being a relative blowout thus far. Ray Allen got hot for 19 points and four 3-pointers, Chris Bosh added 15 points and 11 rebounds, Dwyane Wade had 14 points and a full stat line, and Mario Chalmers scored 14 in the easy win. Game 2 is Thursday night at 7 p.m.
LeBron James (quad) not yet 100 percent | 05/06/2014 6:11 PM
NewsLeBron James said that his bruised right quad hasn't fully healed, but doesn't expect the injury to limit him vs. the Nets on Tuesday.
Jason Lieser on Twitter
ImpactHe injured himself at some point during Miami's first-round sweep of the Bobcats and has been limited at practice ever since. He may wear a pad on his thigh to avoid aggravating the deep bruise, it's not serious enough to jeopardize his status.
LeBron James (quad) ready for second round | 05/03/2014 11:02 AM
NewsLeBron James is wearing a protective pad on his bruised quad and coach Erik Spoelstra is hopeful that he'll be fully recovered for Miami's game vs. the Nets or Raptors on Tuesday.
South Florida Sun-Sentinel
Impact"This [injury] hurt pretty bad," said LeBron. "Obviously, I've been on top of it ever since it happened. It feels good. I'm in the right direction.'' He went through every part of Friday's intense practice and Miami's first-round sweep of the Bobcats has been a blessing for veterans like James and Dwyane Wade, giving them plenty of time to rest and recuperate.
LeBron James participates in scrimmage | 05/02/2014 12:40 PM
NewsLeBron James (sore quad) practiced in full Friday.
Ethan Skolnick on Twitter
ImpactCoach Erik Spoelstra put the Heat through a full, training camp style practice as they await the winner of the Nets/Raptors series. James did everything, including scrimmage. He'll be near 100 percent when the real games resume.
LeBron James (quad) limited on Wednesday | 04/30/2014 12:35 PM
NewsLeBron James (sore quad) did limited on-court work on Wednesday.
Michael Wallace on Twitter
ImpactBy virtue of sweeping the Bobcats, the Heat have plenty of time to rest and eliminate nagging injuries before playing the winner of the Raptors vs. Nets series, which is tied at 2-2. LeBron averaged 30.0 points on 55.7 percent shooting in four games vs. the Bobcats, while adding 8.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.3 steals.
Heat cruise to 4-0 win over Bobcats on Monday | 04/28/2014 9:44 PM
NewsLeBron James scored 31 points on 10-of-19 shooting with seven rebounds, nine assists, three steals and a block as the Heat completed an opening round sweep of the Bobcats on Monday.
ImpactThis series was probably over before it started, but with Al Jefferson finally breaking down there was little chance the Heat would lose a game. Dwyane Wade scored 15 points, Mario Chalmers added 10 points and five assists, and Chris Bosh scored 16 points with eight rebounds in the win. The Heat will have plenty of time to get ready for the winner of the Raptors and Nets series.
LeBron scores 30, Heat coast in Game 3 | 04/26/2014 9:45 PM
NewsLeBron James had 30 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, two steals and a 3-pointer on 10-of-18 shooting in Saturday's easy Game 3 win over the Bobcats to take a 3-0 lead in the series.
ImpactThe Heat were up big and planned to give LeBron and the other starters the fourth quarter off, but the Bobcats made a mini-comeback and Bron went back into the game. It wasn't really as close as the 98-85 score indicates and it's only a matter of time before the Heat move on to Round 2.
LeBron James scores 32 points, Heat up 2-0 | 04/23/2014 10:39 PM
NewsLeBron James was outstanding again during Game 2's 101-97 win over the Bobcats on Wednesday, shooting 11-of-17 from the field for 32 points with six boards, eight assists, four steals and one 3-pointer.
ImpactHe did get popped in the neck by Josh McRoberts, but it didn't cost him any playing time. McRoberts probably should have received a flagrant foul for in infraction and he might get a fine from the league. As for LeBron, he continues to own the Bobcats and has beat them every single time he's played them since joining Miami in 2010. The Heat will take a 2-0 lead to Charlotte for Game 3 on Saturday.
LeBron James hits four triples in Game 1 win | 04/20/2014 6:45 PM
NewsLeBron James made four 3-pointers during Game 1's 99-88 win over the Bobcats on Sunday, scoring a total of 27 points with nine boards, one assist and three turnovers.
ImpactThe Heat had 11 3-pointers today and that was a big part of the win. Their offense clearly wasn't in rhythm with only 14 assists on their 35 field goals and only had 24 points in the paint. LeBron had a couple huge 3-pointers in the third quarter, which helped swing the momentum to help the Heat dominate the early fourth quarter. He owned the Bobcats all season with 37.8 points per game in four games, so he's likely going to put up some massive numbers in this series.
LeBron James, Chris Bosh out Wednesday | 04/16/2014 10:53 AM
NewsLeBron James and Chris Bosh will both be rested for Wednesday's game.
Miami Heat on Twitter
ImpactThere's no word yet on Dwyane Wade's availability, but Greg Oden (illness, back) has been upgraded to a game-time decision for Miami's final game of the regular season. The Heat will face either the Bobcats or the Wizards in the first round of the playoffs.
LeBron James and Chris Bosh won't play Monday | 04/14/2014 5:37 PM
NewsLeBron James and Chris Bosh will not play against the Wizards due to rest.
Ethan Skolnick on Twitter
ImpactHe could be looking at another rest day in the finale on Wednesday. James continues to be almost indestructible, but he's played through a handful of injuries this season and also sat due to back, groin and nose issues. He likely won't be named MVP this season despite putting up some gaudy efficiency numbers. Michael Beasley is expected to get the start.
