|Assets:||Uncommonly good as a shooter for a near-7-footer. Great height lets him to shoot over most defenders. Knows how to get open hits regularly from the arc with a smooth, quick release. Makes few mistakes with the ball and is an excellent passer for a big man. Hits his free throws and will block his share of shots.|
|Flaws:||Not a defensive force, especially as a rebounder and isn't particularly long despite his height; plays more like a shooting guard with a center's frame. Durability is a question mark and he needs more muscle mass to deal with opposing NBA big men.|
|Career Potential:||Offensively-talented big forward.|

Lakers to re-sign Ryan Kelly | 07/19/2014 9:23 AM
NewsThe Lakers will re-sign Ryan Kelly.
Mike Bresnahan on Twitter
ImpactIt's expected to be a two-year deal and it's likely at the veteran minimum because it wouldn't affect the salary cap. The Lakers waived Kendall Marshall's contract and they may have a tough time getting him back. They likely did this so they can bid on Carlos Boozer, who would be a strange fit on the Lakers. Kelly is likely going to start the season out of the rotation.
Jazz interested in Ryan Kelly | 07/01/2014 10:06 AM
NewsThe Jazz have interest in restricted free agent Ryan Kelly.
Salt Lake Tribune
ImpactThere are always some curious players to pop up early in free agency and Kelly is one of them. The Jazz would be one of a handful of teams who would put Kelly in their rotation considering their lack of depth up front and how they could use a guy to stretch the floor. He's unlikely to get a deal early on unless it's below his market value.
Lakers' SF Ryan Kelly now a restricted FA | 06/30/2014 1:05 AM
NewsRyan Kelly will become a restricted free agent after receiving a $1 million qualifying offer from the Lakers.
ImpactL.A. declined to give Kent Bazemore a $1.1 million qualifying offer but they'll retain the right to match all bids for Kelly, who averaged 8.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.1 blocks in 25 minutes per game after the All-Star break as a rookie. He also made 0.9 threes per game, but it's his defensive stats which are truly eye-catching from a fantasy perspective.
Ryan Kelly thinks he can perform sans Mike D. | 05/02/2014 2:52 PM
NewsRyan Kelly said he still thinks he can thrive outside of coach Mike D'Antoni's system.
ImpactPerhaps no player takes a bigger hit than Kelly on paper with D'Antoni resigning this week."I think I can play in multiple styles of offenses," Kelly said. "Obviously Coach D'Antoni's is more spread out and that's what I'm going to be, more of a stretch four. But I showed the ability to handle the ball and put the ball on the floor." Even if Kelly does fit into the new coach's scheme, the Lakers getting healthy to start the year will likely push him out of the rotation to start the season.
Ryan Kelly starts, posts solid line vs. GSW | 04/12/2014 2:50 AM
NewsRyan Kelly started on Friday against the Warriors, scoring 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting with 11 rebounds, three assists, one steal, one block and two threes in 37 minutes.
ImpactThere was some last minute lineup shuffling between he and Robert Sacre (four points, seven rebounds, one block, 19 minutes), but ultimately Kelly was given the nod to start and he came through like owners have pictured he might. Unfortunately, Mike D'Antoni doesn't always cooperate and Kelly is often content to let the other guys get theirs, but in this system this is the type of upside he has on any given night.
Ryan Kelly scores 18 points in ugly loss | 04/09/2014 1:28 AM
NewsRyan Kelly hit 5-of-11 shots for 18 points, three rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block in Tuesday's blowout loss to the Rockets.
ImpactKelly hit just 3-of11 shots on Sunday, but was much better tonight, as he got to the line and made 8-of-11 free throws. He's starting at small forward and should continue to do so until the season mercifully comes to an end.
Marshall, Meeks, Bazemore, Kelly, Hill start | 04/06/2014 2:20 PM
NewsThe Lakers will start Kendall Marshall, Jodie Meeks, Kent Bazemore, Ryan Kelly and Jordan Hill against the Clippers on Sunday.
Mike Trudell on Twitter
ImpactIn a surprising twist, this is the same lineup the Lakers used on Friday night. They only have nine active players tonight and they're really going to have a tough time putting points on the board. We'll let you know how they do following the game.
Kelly blocks two shots on quiet night | 04/03/2014 1:57 AM
NewsRyan Kelly scored just six points on 2-of-6 shooting (no threes) with five rebounds, two assists and two blocks over 28 minutes on Wednesday.
ImpactKelly played better than the numbers suggest but watched as teammates took turns hoisting up shots in rapid fire manner. It's possible that he gets heavy run for the Lakers down the stretch, but those are the famous last words of anybody relying on unproven fantasy assets from L.A. right now.
Ryan Kelly will start vs. the Kings | 04/02/2014 8:38 PM
NewsRyan Kelly will start vs. the Kings on Wednesday.
Dave McMenamin on Twitter
ImpactPau Gasol (vertigo) and Chris Kaman (calf) won't play tonight and Kelly could get some serious run. On top of the scoring chances, he's been an effective passer, which should help considering Steve Nash (ankle) is out.
Ryan Kelly plays 30 minutes off bench | 04/02/2014 1:37 AM
NewsRyan Kelly played 20 minutes off the bench against the Blazers on Tuesday with nine points, nine boards, two assists, two blocks and one 3-pointer.
ImpactIt makes sense to keep Kelly in the rotation to help develop him for next season, but 20 minutes certainly isn't going to make fantasy owners run to the wire. With Pau Gasol back, we'd like to see Kelly turn in another productive game against the Kings on Wednesday.
Ryan Kelly scores 17 pts, fills up boxscore | 03/31/2014 12:27 AM
NewsRyan Kelly was everywhere in Sunday's easy win vs. the Suns, piling up 17 points, two 3-pointers, five rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks in just 30 minutes off the bench.
ImpactHe made some nice defensive plays and hit a variety of tough shots, and the No. 48 pick in this year's draft already looks like a steal for L.A. With Xavier Henry (knee) once again on the sidelines, Kelly should produce understated, across-the-board production in L.A.'s four-game week.
| 03/27/2014 7:09 PM
NewsThe Lakers are expected to start Kendall Marshall, Jodie Meeks, Wes Johnson, Ryan Kelly and Jordan Hill against the Bucks on Thursday.
Mike Trudell on Twitter
ImpactKelly has been in and out of the starting lineup and he's played much more when coach Mike D'Antoni puts him with the first unit. He'll be worth a look and would have even better values should Chris Kaman (personal) not play.
Ryan Kelly moves to the bench, scores seven | 03/22/2014 3:41 AM
NewsRyan Kelly moved back to the bench against the Wizards on Friday, finishing with seven points, three boards, one assist and no turnovers in 19 minutes.
ImpactHe played just 18.6 minutes per game in his six games on the bench earlier this month before coach Mike D'Antoni moved him into a more prominent role, and now that seems like it's where he's going to stay. Jordan Hill's return tonight was the biggest factor for the drop-off in production and Kelly is probably a guy to cut in standard fantasy leagues even though Hill won't be quite as busy as he was tonight.
Ryan Kelly moving back to the bench | 03/21/2014 2:18 PM
NewsRyan Kelly will move back to the bench against the Wizards on Friday.
Mike Trudell on Twitter
ImpactHe started the last four games and has also seen his minutes increase to 33.2 per game over his last five. In that span, Kelly averaged 13.6 points, 6.4 boards, 3.6 dimes, 1.4 blocks, 1.0 steals and 1.8 triples. There is really no positive way to spin this because Kelly's minutes are significantly less off the bench, playing just 18.6 minutes per game in his six games prior to the aforementioned five-game stretch. He's not an automatic cut because he was so great, but his owners might want to prepare for a dip in production tonight.
Ryan Kelly scores 14 in loss to Spurs | 03/20/2014 1:58 AM
NewsRyan Kelly hit 3-of-9 shots for 14 points, six rebounds, two steals, a block and a 3-pointer in Wednesday's loss to the Spurs.
ImpactKelly scored just six points with six rebounds on 2-of-8 shooting on Friday, but is still averaging 13.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.0 steals, 1.4 blocks and 1.8 3-pointers over his last five games. As long as he's starting for the Lakers, he's worth owning in all fantasy leagues.
Ryan Kelly scores 12 points with six dimes | 03/14/2014 12:23 AM
NewsRyan Kelly handed out six assists against the Thunder on Thursday with 12 points, four boards, two blocks and two 3-pointers in 29 minutes.
ImpactThe Lakers counted on him big time in his previous two in up-tempo, high-scoring games. Kelly was doing more than just catch and shoot lately, which makes sense since the Lakers have nothing to play for and might as well develop a player who won't cost much in the future. As always, nothing is certain, but he's worth owning as a decent upside guy.
Ryan Kelly hands out eight dimes vs. OKC | 03/09/2014 6:31 PM
NewsRyan Kelly was back in the starting lineup against the Thunder on Sunday with 12 points, five boards, eight assists, one steal, two blocks and two 3-pointers in 37 minutes.
ImpactHis previous career high in assists was just three and he had more assists to just Jodie Meeks alone with five. While the move of Kelly to the starting lineup may have been matchup based, he was coming off a 24-point game on Friday. There's nothing certain about Kelly keeping it up, but he's worth a look for now.
Ryan Kelly goes nuts with 24 and 11 vs. DEN | 03/08/2014 12:51 AM
NewsRyan Kelly went off in Friday's loss to the Nuggets, scoring 24 points on 7-of-14 shooting (4-of-8 from deep, 6-of-6 from the line) with 11 rebounds, one steal and one block in 33 minutes off the bench.
ImpactKelly has done well with the minutes that he has gotten lately but this is the first real noise he has made in a while and it's big. We don't know what Mike D'Antoni will do and tonight the second unit brought the team back from a big deficit late, but given the fantasy friendly situation and player owners can consider a flier here.
Ryan Kelly moves back to the bench on Sunday | 02/23/2014 2:26 PM
NewsRyan Kelly will move back to the bench against the Nets on Sunday.
Mike Trudell on Twitter
ImpactHis playing time was pretty much doomed on Thursday with the Lakers keeping their power forwards and there was actual evidence on Friday with just 12 minutes of action. Kelly had a good run, but he's too much of a liability in other areas to be counted on in most leagues.
Ryan Kelly puts up a goose egg | 02/22/2014 10:13 AM
NewsRyan Kelly did not score against the Celtics on Friday in 12 minutes.
ImpactThere are not many players who lost more value after the deadline than Ryan Kelly. The Lakers were expected to dump some big men in the trade market, but that wasn't the case. He's a big-time drop candidate due to some ugly play lately.
Ryan Kelly gets 29 minutes, more time coming? | 02/20/2014 2:28 AM
NewsRyan Kelly scored 13 points in 29 minutes against the Rockets during Wednesday's loss, adding three boards, three assists and one 3-pointer.
ImpactThe Lakers' plan at the deadline appears to be trading away Jordan Hill and Chris Kaman to give them a chance to keep Pau Gasol and his Bird rights. That would mean Kelly would likely see the lion's share of the minutes next to Gasol and would be worthy of consideration in standard leagues.
Ryan Kelly losing some of his minutes | 02/14/2014 1:33 AM
NewsRyan Kelly played just 16 minutes against the Thunder on Thursday with seven points, two boards, two assists, one block and one 3-pointer.
ImpactThat makes it three straight games in the teens for his minutes and he's finally fallen out of favor with coach Mike D'Antoni. Kelly's defense and lack of presence inside on offense proved costly, so his owners might want to start looking at other options.
Ryan Kelly shifts to bench w/ Williams at PF | 02/11/2014 2:15 PM
NewsRyan Kelly will shift to a bench role on Tuesday, as Shawne Williams takes over the PF position vs. the Jazz.
Mike Trudell on Twitter
ImpactKelly was averaging 11.5 points, 1.2 threes and 4.4 rebounds in 28 minutes per game as a starter. He should get solid playing time with the second unit, and the Lakers' bench scores 41.8 points per game (second only to the Spurs), but he was already losing minutes to Williams and a dip in his production should be anticipated.
Ryan Kelly falls off on Sunday afternoon | 02/09/2014 6:21 PM
NewsRyan Kelly played just 16 minutes against the Bulls on Sunday, failing to score on five attempts with two boards, one assist and one block.
ImpactHe lost a lot of playing time to Shawne Williams and Jordan Hill today. The Lakers were trying to come back tonight, so not playing Kelly down the stretch speaks volumes. Although, this is not exactly the first time D'Antoni has sat a shooter for being cold during a game. Kelly owners shouldn't totally be jumping ship after two terrific games before this game.
Kelly goes for 15 and eight against Sixers | 02/07/2014 10:47 PM
NewsRyan Kelly scored 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting (including a three) with eight rebounds and two steals over 31 minutes in Friday's win against the Sixers.
ImpactKelly has been a consistent top 80-100 play (9/8 cat) over the last month and a few rounds better over the last week. That makes him a must-own player in all formats, even if there is the tiniest chance that he somehow falls out of favor in L.A. Defense would be the problem but Mike D'Antoni likes what Kelly brings otherwise and there's really nobody else that could step in and provide credible minutes at PF other than (maybe) Shawne Williams.
Ryan Kelly scores career-high 26 points | 02/05/2014 10:24 PM
NewsRyan Kelly scored a career-high 26 points against the Cavs on Wednesday during a 119-108 win, adding six boards, one steal and three 3-pointers in 42 minutes.
ImpactThe Lakers didn't have anyone to play behind Kelly to allow him to play his highest minutes total ever, as well. Kelly's productivity was of note before this game, averaging 12.4 points, 4.2 boards, 0.7 steals and 1.3 triples over his last nine games, so he's worth a look if a 3-point shooting power forward would fit your team.
Ryan Kelly hits 2-of-11 shots in start | 02/04/2014 11:04 PM
NewsRyan Kelly started at power forward again on Tuesday, but hit just 2-of-11 shots (both 3-pointers) for six points, two rebounds, three assists and a steal.
ImpactKelly's shooting has been a bit of a mess, as he hit just 41 percent of his shots in January, and couldn't buy a bucket tonight. With Jordan Hill's cervical and head injuries tonight, Kelly should continue to start, but he'd be a lot more fun to take a flier on if he could get hot from the field. If you picked him up and plugged him into your lineup this week, he's got three more games to make it up to you.
Kelly scores 13 points with six boards | 02/01/2014 2:03 AM
NewsRyan Kelly started at power forward once again in the Lakers' 110-100 home loss to the Bobcats, scoring 13 points on 4-of-10 shooting (including a three) with six rebounds, three assists and a block in 33 minutes.
ImpactKelly has been a mid-to-late round value over the past two weeks and with Pau Gasol potentially missing time his role could solidify a bit. Then again, he's getting worked over on the inside and nothing is really secure under Mike D'Antoni. With the Lakers playing just two games this week, he should be available in many leagues and given all of these metrics he should be owned in a lot more of them.
Ryan Kelly starts and scores 10 in loss | 01/29/2014 2:12 AM
NewsRyan Kelly started at power forward again and had 10 points, three rebounds, two assists, a steal and two blocks on 2-of-7 shooting in 19 minutes on Tuesday.
ImpactHe came off the bench to start the second half behind Jordan Hill, but it may have just been a 'Mike D'Antoni matchup thing.' Kelly only has one more game this week, but will be worth a deep-league look if he's still starting at PF come Monday.
Ryan Kelly scores five points in start | 01/26/2014 6:14 PM
NewsRyan Kelly played just 21 minutes against the Knicks on Sunday, scoring five points with one board, two assists and one 3-pointer.
ImpactCoach Mike D'Antoni did his usual lineup shuffling today and it cost Kelly some minutes. The Lakers went with some smaller lineups to match the Knicks with Wesley Johnson seeing a lot of time at power forward, which the Lakers couldn't away with against most teams. Kelly owners shouldn't worry too much.
Kelly scores 15 points with two threes | 01/24/2014 10:00 PM
NewsRyan Kelly scored 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting (2-of-3 from deep, 3-of-3 from the line) with three rebounds, two assists and one block over 30 minutes in another start at power forward on Friday.
ImpactKelly is custom-built for Mike D'Antoni and as long as he's not getting totally toasted on the defensive side and on the glass then he has a shot at sticking in his current role, for now. When Kobe Bryant and others return, all bets are off.
Ryan Kelly gets 26 minutes vs. Miami | 01/23/2014 10:40 PM
NewsRyan Kelly played 26 minutes in his third consecutive start at power forward on Thursday, scoring seven points with five boards, two assists, one steal and one 3-pointer on 3-of-10 from the field.
ImpactHe brought the ball up a little bit tonight and he's seemed to gain some of coach Mike D'Antoni's trust. D'Antoni did give Jordan Hill a little more burn in the loss, but Kelly should still be able to hold fantasy value at around 26 minutes per night.
Ryan Kelly scores 13 in another start | 01/20/2014 11:34 PM
NewsRyan Kelly started at power forward again for the Pacers on Monday and had 13 points, seven rebounds and a 3-pointer on 4-of-9 shooting in 35 minutes.
ImpactIt's impossible to guess how long Kelly will start for Mike D'Antoni, but as long as it's happening, Kelly is worth a look in many leagues.
Ryan Kelly scores 17 points in 37 minutes | 01/19/2014 3:43 PM
NewsRyan Kelly scored 17 points in 37 minutes of action against the Raptors on Sunday, adding five boards, two assists, two steals and one 3-pointer.
ImpactHe made his first four shots from the field and was actually a nice complement to Pau Gasol. Kelly made a name for himself last year at Duke for some lights-out shooting, which is right up coach Mike D'Antoni's alley as a stretch four. Of course, Kelly has struggled a lot on the defensive end. D'Antoni changes his lineups more than he changes his socks, but Kelly is a decent pickup after a nice game like this one.
Ryan Kelly likely to be getting more minutes | 01/19/2014 12:44 PM
NewsIn a recent interview Mike D'Antoni was complimentary of Ryan Kelly's play and suggested that he's in line for more minutes.
Los Angeles Daily News
Impact"He'll have to get used to playing every night and more minutes," said D'Antoni. It's no secret that coach D'Antoni prefers stretch fours over the traditional big men, and quotes like this are encouraging to hear. Kelly is coming off a career high 20-point game, and makes for a decent speculative add. Just know that D'Antoni is anything but consistent with his rotations, and while Kelly had a nice outing in his last game, he is shooting just 38.5 percent on the season.
Ryan Kelly starts at PF, Jordan Hill to bench | 01/18/2014 5:02 PM
NewsLakers rookie Ryan Kelly will start at PF vs. the Raptors on Sunday, sending Jordan Hill back to the bench.
Mark Medina on Twitter
ImpactHill played just 11 minutes on Friday, while Kelly blew up for a career-best 20 points, two 3-pointers, four rebounds and one block in 34 minutes off the bench. Fantasy owners should approach him warily, however, as Mike D'Antoni's lineup change with the wind and Kelly is shooting just 38.5 percent from the field this season (including 29.0 percent from downtown). Deep league owners may want to pounce on him but everyone else can take a wait-and-see approach.
Kelly plays career-high 31 minutes in loss | 01/16/2014 1:35 AM
NewsRyan Kelly played a career-high 31 minutes in Wednesday's loss, scoring nine points on 3-of-7 shooting (including a three) with seven rebounds, two steals and three blocks.
ImpactObviously the defensive numbers stand out but it's hard to see him getting anywhere close to this much playing time or production if Nick Young isn't ejected. Add in all of the returning players over the next few weeks and there is very little to grab onto here, even if he is a good fit for Mike D'Antoni's offense and is somebody to watch with the Lakers out of contention.
Ryan Kelly plays career-high 19 minutes | 01/01/2014 1:25 AM
NewsRyan Kelly played a career-high 19 minutes against the Bucks on Tuesday, scoring six points with three boards, one assist and one 3-pointer on 2-of-6 shooting.
ImpactCoach Mike D'Antoni seems to be attracted to the idea of playing the rookie as the stretch four and he's played at least 17 minutes in three of his last four games. Kelly is still a long way from sniffing value in standard leagues, but he could wind up on the radar with the wily Mike D calling the shots.
Ryan Kelly plays just 13 minutes vs. Jazz | 12/28/2013 1:49 AM
NewsRyan Kelly (ankle) played 13 minutes against the Jazz on Friday with two points.
ImpactHe played a shocking 17 minutes on Wednesday and it wouldn't have been a surprise to see Mike D'Antoni use the rookie again tonight with Pau Gasol out. Kelly can be left on the wire on most leagues.
Ryan Kelly has minor ankle sprain | 12/27/2013 2:06 PM
NewsRyan Kelly is expected to play through a mild left ankle sprain on Friday night against the Jazz.
Mark Medina on Twitter
ImpactHe is coming off a career-high 17 minutes and played a lot of power forward on Wednesday, so he could clear 20 minutes against the Jazz with Pau Gasol (illness) out. The Jazz are dead last in defensive efficiency this year, so there could be plenty of stats to go around for the Lakers.
Ryan Kelly plays 17 minutes vs. Heat | 12/25/2013 8:04 PM
NewsRyan Kelly had career highs with 17 minutes and four points against the Heat on Wednesday to go with one assist and one 3-pointer.
ImpactHe was guarding LeBron James in the fourth quarter in Kelly's "welcome to the NBA" moment. Coach Mike D'Antoni is as unpredictable as it gets, so Kelly is at least on the radar in very deep leagues. To be clear, we're talking very deep leagues for now.
Lakers recall Ryan Kelly from D-League | 12/02/2013 9:18 PM
NewsThe Lakers recalled Ryan Kelly from the D-League on Monday.
Mark Medina on Twitter
ImpactHe played just seven minutes all season and he's just going to be another body for the team while Jordan Farmar is out. Kelly is a stretch four that can't defend yet, so he'll have no fantasy value. For what it's worth, he is playing well in the D-League with 25.0 points per game.
Ryan Kelly sent back to D-League | 11/23/2013 11:35 AM
NewsRyan Kelly and Elias Harris have been reassigned to the D-League by the Los Angeles Lakers.
Adam Zagoria on Twitter
ImpactKelly and Harris were called up for Friday's game against Golden State, and as expected were both immediate returned to the Los Angeles D-Fenders.
Ryan Kelly recalled from D-League by Lakers | 11/22/2013 1:38 PM
NewsRyan Kelly and Elias Harris have been recalled from the D-League by the Los Angeles Lakers.
Los Angeles Times
ImpactBoth Kelly and Harris will be available for Friday's game against Golden State, but neither is worth any fantasy consideration as both are likely to be sent back to the Los Angeles D-Fenders after Friday's game.
Ryan Kelly, Elias Harris sent to D-League | 11/14/2013 3:58 PM
NewsThe Lakers assigned Ryan Kelly and Elias Harris to the D-League on Thursday.
Mike Trudell on Twitter
ImpactThey'll get far more on-court experience with the Los Angeles D-Fenders, and can always be recalled as the schedule dictates.
Ryan Kelly (foot) makes preseason debut | 10/15/2013 10:26 AM
NewsRyan Kelly (foot) made his preseason debut on Monday with six points and three rebounds in a loss to the Warriors.
ImpactL.A.'s second-round draft pick is a 6'11", 230 pound big man who played four seasons with Duke, averaging 12.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.6 blocks. He has 3-point range, which by itself should endear him to Mike D'Antoni, but fantasy owners can safely ignore him on draft day.
Ryan Kelly (foot) a week away from drills | 10/04/2013 6:45 PM
NewsRyan Kelly (foot) is a week away from participating in drills according to Mike D'Antoni.
Dave McMenamin on Twitter
ImpactKelly is going to be a punching bag defensively at the NBA level, but he can shoot and the Lakers are not exactly deep at power forward. He's not on the fantasy radar in most formats until he can show something on the court.
Ryan Kelly takes part in shooting drills | 10/03/2013 7:24 PM
NewsRyan Kelly (foot) took part in shooting drills on Thursday.
ImpactIt was his second day of doing on-court work, but the rookie still hasn't been fully cleared for contact. While Kelly does have a guaranteed contract, his minutes figure to be sparse this year.
Kelly up to 90 percent of weight on treadmill | 09/30/2013 11:52 AM
NewsRyan Kelly (foot) is up to 90 percent of his body weight on a treadmill.
ImpactHe's getting close to being active for the Lakers, but he's not expected to play in any of the eight preseason games. Kelly is off the fantasy radar.
Ryan Kelly (foot) now running on treadmill | 09/22/2013 1:40 PM
NewsLakers draft pick Ryan Kelly (foot surgery) is running at 75 percent of his body weight on a treadmill.
Los Angeles Daily News
ImpactTrainer Gary Vitti said Kelly is "completely asymptomatic," so his rehab is progressing well, but even at full health he'll need an impressive training camp to make the Lakers' roster. His contract is fully unguaranteed.
Ryan Kelly officially signs with the Lakers | 09/20/2013 4:20 PM
NewsLakers sign F Ryan Kelly.
ImpactHe is dealing with a foot injury, but is believed to be asymptomatic. Kelly will join the Lakers at training camp and will attempt to make the final 15. The Duke product is more of a stretch four and can shoot, but his defense needs work. He's off the fantasy radar.
Ryan Kelly (foot) to be re-evaluated in week | 09/16/2013 10:21 PM
NewsRyan Kelly (foot) will be re-evaluated in a week.
Mark Medina on Twitter
ImpactHe has continued to have problems with his right foot since his surgery in April. Kelly's slow recovery may have been the catalyst for the Lakers recently signing both Marcus Landry and Shawne Williams. When he was drafted, he looked like a good fit for D'Antoni's offense, but this foot injury should give fantasy owners reason to be skeptical of his value.
Ryan Kelly not expected to be ready for camp | 09/03/2013 8:21 PM
NewsLakers rookie Ryan Kelly has been slow to recover from multiple foot surgeries and the Lakers don't expect him to be ready for the start of training camp.
ImpactThey are also reportedly "discouraged" with his progress this summer, which is important because the Lakers are already so thin at small forward. That raises the question of whether or not they'll go after Michael Beasley, who was waived by the Suns earlier on Tuesday.
