|Assets:||One of the NBA's most gifted pure scorers: long, athletic, and instinctive, with a shooting guard's skills (including superb shooting range) and a power forward's height and wingspan. Has an excellent feel for the game. A cagey passer who takes care of the ball.|
|Flaws:||Doesn't have an explosive first step, which can limit him in some one-on-one defensive assignments. Would benefit by going to the hoop more often, and too often settles for the jumper. Needs to add some muscle to better absorb contact.|
|Career Potential:||High-scoring star swingman.|

Danilo Gallinari dunking in practice | 04/17/2014 7:26 PM
NewsDanilo Gallinari (knee) has been dunking in practice and says he'll be ready for training camp to start the 2014-15 season.
Chris Dempsey on Twitter
ImpactHe was in uniform last weekend, but he's still nowhere near close to playing. Gallinari missed the entire season due to ACL reconstruction and he'll have a tough rehab ahead of him this summer. He'll be on the radar in fantasy leagues as long as he doesn't have a setback.
Danilo Galinari will dress, will not play Sat | 04/12/2014 7:38 PM
NewsDanilo Gallinari will dress for Saturday's game but he will not play.

ImpactIt's likely just a formality and Gallinari is out for the season from ACL surgery back in January. He could be ready to go for the start of the 2014-15 and will be on the radar in all leagues.
Danilo Gallinari (ACL surgery) out for season | 01/21/2014 3:27 PM
NewsDanilo Gallinari will miss the rest of the season after having reconstructive ACL surgery on Tuesday, according to Yahoo!'s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter
ImpactGallo had an arthroscopic procedure to "promote healing" in his partially torn ACL back in June, but unfortunately that wasn't sufficient to get him back on the court. His absence solidifies Wilson Chandler's value as the Nuggets' starting SF, while ensuring that Quincy Miller will earn some minutes in a backup role. Gallinari has a long rehab ahead of him and we can only hope that he's ready for the start of the 2014-15 season.
Danilo Gallinari says he might miss season | 01/15/2014 5:56 AM
NewsDanilo Gallinari (knee) said this week he could miss the rest of the season in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Impact"I got over the most boring part, by now," Gallinari said. "The muscle tone is back, in the gym I lift weights I never lifted before. I work with the ball and changes of direction. Let's say I still have to work on the mental part, the most important one." This meshes with just about everything else on Gallo's timeline. He's doing some weight training, but there has been no word of any basketball activities. There's little reason to stash him at this point. Wilson Chandler and Quincy Miller would benefit should The Rooster sit this season out.

NewsDanilo Gallinari (knee) has been doing strength exercises in his road back to recovery from ACL surgery.
Danilo Gallinari on Facebook
ImpactGallinari posted a video on Saturday to his personal Facebook page showing himself doing some leg extensions and weighted pelvic thrusts. His rehab is progressing, but he still hasn't been given a timetable to return to game action. He is still a long way from fantasy value in standard leagues and is not a strong stash candidate.

NewsDanilo Gallinari was pushing a weighted sled with the Nuggets training staff this month.
Danilo Gallinari on Facebook
ImpactHe is running and doing some weight training as well, but he has no timetable to return. Gallinari does not appear to be close to returning and fantasy owners can keep leave him on the waiver wire. Wilson Chandler is worth owning in all leagues.
Danilo Gallinari (knee) begins running | 12/11/2013 6:06 PM
NewsDanilo Gallinari (knee) said on Wednesday he has started running in his rehab.
ImpactThe report adds that it's more of a jog than anything and Gallinari still has a long way to go. "No sideways, just forward and backwards and that's it," Gallinari said. "It feels pretty good. It doesn't feel like I haven't been running since the fourth of April, a lot of months. It doesn't feel as good as it could be, but it's going to be better every day." He still has no timetable to return and Wilson Chandler will continue to start for the foreseeable future.
Danilo Gallinari still not running yet | 12/06/2013 7:25 PM
NewsDanilo Gallinari (knee) is still not running yet.
Chris Dempsey on Twitter
ImpactHe is doing some resistance training with bands, but still does not have a timetable to return to the lineup. Gallinari not even able to run yet still likely means he has a long way to go before he can return. Fantasy owners can avoid him for the most part while Wilson Chandler should snap out of his slump in the near future.
Danilo Gallinari (knee) still not running | 12/05/2013 9:48 AM
NewsDanilo Gallinari (ACL surgery) still isn't close to returning and has yet to start running.
ImpactGallinari spoke with Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post and Dempsey had this to say about the Italian forward, "He said he's a long way away from returning. Now, he has been steadily doing more and more, but he hasn't started running yet. When he does, then a clearer time-frame will fall into place. But don't expect to see him until after the New Year." Until Gallo's timetable becomes clearer, owners in re-draft leagues shouldn't bother using a roster spot to stash him.
Danilo Gallinari says he will play this year | 11/30/2013 9:05 AM
NewsDanilo Gallinari (ACL surgery) said he will play this season, denying the rumors his injury will keep him sidelined all year.
New York Post
ImpactGallinari believes he will return to the court at some point this season, although we still have no idea when that will be. At the moment, he is nowhere close to playing. Wilson Chandler will continue to rack up the minutes in Gallinari's absence.
Gallinari (knee) remains out indefinitely | 11/24/2013 9:18 AM
NewsDanilo Gallinari (ACL surgery) has yet to begin running on the court and he has no clear return date.
ImpactGallo initially expected to resume playing by December, a timetable which was overly optimistic. "As you are able to see, [the return date] was the thought of a guy who had this injury for the first time," he said this week. "I had no experience with this injury, this rehab. That was just my prediction. But as you can see I was completely wrong." Owners should leave him untouched in most cases, and his nebulous return date is good news for Wilson Chandler's value.
Danilo Gallinari (knee) unsure of return date | 11/14/2013 10:54 AM
NewsDanilo Gallinari said he has "no idea" when he will return to action.
ImpactGallinari had previously said he was targeting a late-November return from his torn ACL, but that timetable looks to be by the wayside at this point. While the 25-year-old has begun rehabbing, he has yet to run the floor and has been limited to the weight room and shooting free throws. Gallinari is a solid stash for fantasy rosters that have a free roster spot, but a late-December/early-January return is looking more realistic than late-November at the moment.
Danilo Gallinari to increase rehab this week | 11/03/2013 3:08 PM
NewsDanilo Galllinari (knee) is expected to increase his rehab workouts this week.
Nuggets on Twitter
ImpactEven though there are no specifics from the report, it likely means that he will be doing some running this week. The Nuggets need Gallinari back in a big way and they've been unable to figure out what to do at small forward with Wilson Chandler (hamstring) also out. Gallo will be eased back into the lineup, so it will likely be at least one month before he's contributing in fantasy leagues.
Danilo Gallinari (knee) still not running yet | 10/06/2013 3:59 PM
NewsDanilo Gallinari (knee) has not started running yet.
Chris Dempsey on Twitter
ImpactHe hoped to be running this week, and he still doesn't know when he'll be able to do so. Gallinari also said he was targeting a late-November return, so not hitting this step of his rehab process figures to put a dent in that timetable. Wilson Chandler (hamstring) figures to put up two months of solid production while the Italian is out.
Danilo Gallinari (knee) shoots free throws | 10/01/2013 4:16 PM
NewsDanilo Gallinari (knee) was at Tuesday's practice and shot free throws.
Chris Dempsey on Twitter
ImpactHe's still not cleared for contact and doesn't have a target date to return from his torn ACL from last season. Gallnari also did not participate in drills and still has a long way to go to see action. He said he's targeting a return in late November, but late December seems like a more reasonable goal. Wilson Chandler should see plenty of time and is worth drafting in all leagues.
No target date for Danilo Gallinari's return | 09/27/2013 9:21 AM
NewsCoach Brian Shaw said Thursday that despite Danilo Gallinari's (ACL surgery) claim that he'll be ready to return to action by the end of November, there is still no target date on when we might see him play again.
Impact"There's been several different prognoses of when he's going to return - he's ahead of schedule, he's not," said Shaw. "I don't think that's anything anyone can determine at this point. We will just try to hold the fort down until he is able to get back and feels strong enough to get out there on the floor." Wilson Chandler will start until Gallinari is ready and should have a very productive season. Gallinari could be ready by the end of November, but it's also possible he could be out until after Christmas.
Danilo Gallinari (knee) targeting November? | 09/25/2013 10:10 AM
NewsDanilo Gallinari (knee) has been given a tentative timetable to return in late November.
ImpactGallinari has been rehabbing his ACL injury aggressively all summer. "I can see the results of the hard work and according to the doctors I should be ready for the end of November", Gallinari said. This is an unexpected turn of events, since Gallinari's original projected return was in early January. While it's encouraging to hear that Gallo is ahead of schedule, he's still nothing more than a late-round pick in some formats
Danilo Gallinari still without a timetable | 09/20/2013 3:10 PM
NewsDanilo Gallinari (knee) is still without a timetable, according to his agent Lee Melchionni.
Impact"We don't have a set date for when Danilo is ready to return," Melchionni said. "When he gets cleared by doctors, I think we will cross that bridge when it comes." He added that everything is going well for Gallo since his ACL tear back on April 4. Gallinari isn't expected back to start the season, so Wilson Chandler could get some extra minutes to start the season.
Gallinari (ACL) could return in December | 06/15/2013 3:46 PM
NewsDanilo Gallinari (partially torn ACL) could resume basketball activities by December.
ImpactGallo was originally expected to be out through February, but he got some good news when doctors determined his ACL was not fully torn. He said in a recent video posted on Twitter, "I underwent a healing response procedure, in which ligament is stimulated to respond naturally ... This procedure changes completely my rehab and recovery time." He's still expected to miss the first month of the season, at a minimum.
Gallinari only suffered a partial ACL tear | 06/14/2013 9:58 PM
NewsDanilo Gallinari suffered a partial ACL tear, according to The Steadman Clinic in Vail.
Impact"Danilo Gallinari had an arthroscopic procedure to promote healing of his ACL tear, which was found to be partially torn at the time of surgery. Dr. Steadman has performed over 2,000 of these procedures," the clinic's statement said. "We are hopeful that Danilo will return to basketball sooner than if he had a complete ACL reconstruction." This is good news for Gallo, but he's still unlikely to make the season opener.
Danilo Gallinari to have surgery next week | 06/04/2013 9:06 AM
NewsDanilo Gallinari will undergo ACL surgery next week.
ImpactGallinari said previously he might not return until January or February in 2014, and he's definitely not going to be ready for opening night considering he's not even having the procedure until mid-June. We should have a clearer idea of his timetable after the procedure.
Danilo Gallinari might not be back until 2014 | 05/30/2013 7:55 PM
NewsDanilo Gallinari confirmed that he might not return until later in January or February of 2014.
ImpactHe had surgery on his meniscus on May 17 and is slated to undergo his ACL surgery in the next two weeks. Gallo would need a six-month rehab to make it back to the lineup in January, which is a tall order for most athletes. He's coming off a career-high 16.2 points per game and his rehab will be worth monitoring in the beginning of next season.
Danilo Gallinari to have surgery in 3 weeks | 05/17/2013 9:45 AM
NewsDanilo Gallinari will undergo his second knee surgery in three weeks.
ImpactGallinari had his meniscus repaired three weeks ago, and now he'll undergo a surgery to repair his torn ACL. Since Gallinari won't have his ACL surgery until June, there is virtually no way he'll be ready for the start of the season and we could be looking at a scenario where the forward is out until around Christmas or potentially the start of 2014. It's a situation fantasy owners need to watch closely during the offseason.
No date set for Gallo's ACL repair | 04/30/2013 4:56 PM
NewsThe Nuggets confirmed that no date has been set yet for Danilo Gallinari's ACL surgery.
ImpactThis is turning into a more serious injury than originally reported. Gallinari underwent a scope Monday to repair meniscus damage in his left knee. Now he'll have to rehab for an undetermined amount of time before going under the knife again. It's looking more and more unlikely that Gallo will be ready for the start of next season.
Danilo Gallinari undergoes successful surgery | 04/30/2013 8:15 AM
NewsDanilo Gallinari underwent successful knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus on Monday, and he will have another surgery to repair his torn ACL at a later date.
ImpactThis goes against a report that stated Gallo had not sustained any meniscus damage, so this is certainly worth monitoring. Gallinari will now undergo two separate procedures on the same knee and faces an uphill battle to get back on the court before the 2013/14 season begins. It's more likely he returns in late November or early December, but his timetable remains fluid.
Danilo Gallinari to have surgery on April 29 | 04/24/2013 11:16 AM
NewsDanilo Gallinari will have knee surgery on April 29 to repair his torn ACL.
Sportando on Twitter
ImpactA timetable for his return will be established at that point, but it's going to be a challenge for Gallo to be ready for the start of the 2013/14 season. More realistically, Gallinari could return in November or December.
Danilo Gallinari could have surgery next week | 04/09/2013 8:46 AM
NewsDanilo Gallinari could have surgery to repair his torn ACL as early as next week.
ImpactGallinari spoke to his doctor by phone and isn't ruling out a return in November of the 2013/14 season, but that seems really optimistic at this point as it would give him just about seven months to recover. A more realistic return might be in December or even January depending on Gallo's recovery. Without Gallinari, Wilson Chandler will continue to start at small forward and Andre Iguodala will be asked to carry a larger load on offense.
Signs point to torn ACL for Danilo Gallinari | 04/05/2013 9:14 AM
NewsDanilo Gallinari "heard a pop" when he hurt his knee on Thursday, a source told the Denver Post.
ImpactAll signs are pointing toward a torn ACL for Gallo, and that's a crucial blow for a team that is already without Ty Lawson (heel). Assuming Gallinari is out for the remainder of the season, and it looks like he will be, Corey Brewer is a must-own player with Wilson Chandler also seeing a boost in time as well. If Gallinari does have a torn ACL, it's going to be a challenge to be ready by the start of the 2013/14 season.
Initial tests suggest torn ACL for Gallinari | 04/05/2013 12:06 AM
NewsThe initial tests on Danilo Gallinari suggest that he suffered a torn ACL in his left knee on Thursday.
Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter
ImpactThe team will conduct an MRI to confirm, but it sounds like the team doctors feel that the instability of Gallnari's knee suggest that he tore a ligament. It's a tough blow for the Nuggets and they are now without their top two scorers with Gallinari and Ty Lawson possibly out for the year. Unforunately, owners can cut Gallo and Corey Brewer becomes a must-own player. Wilson Chandler is worth a look in standard leagues and Evan Fournier may help owners in deep leagues.
Danilo Gallinari taken off on stretcher Thurs | 04/04/2013 9:57 PM
NewsDanilo Gallinari suffered a left knee injury in the second quarter of Thursday's game against the Mavericks.
ImpactIt didn't look good. He suffered a non-contact injury and turned his knee while in the lane. Gallo was in agonizing pain for a few minutes and he was taken off the floor on a stretcher. The Nuggets have some depth behind Gallo, so look for Corey Brewer, Wilson Chandler and a hot Evan Fournier to help fill the void.
Gallinari (rest) plays on Friday vs. Nets | 03/30/2013 2:46 AM
NewsDanilo Gallinari was rested on Thursday but played 32 minutes in the Nuggets' 109-87 win over the Nets on Friday, scoring 11 points on 5-of-12 shooting (no threes) with five rebounds and six assists.
ImpactGallo's status was never in doubt and he can be used as you normally would use him. Andre Iguodala scored nine points on 4-of-5 shooting with three rebounds, eight assists, two steals, a block and a three, and Andre Miller was quiet despite Ty Lawson's absence with 12 points and three assists in 27 minutes.
Danilo Gallinari (rest) should play on Friday | 03/29/2013 8:49 AM
NewsDanilo Gallinari (rest) did not practice on Thursday, but he's fully expected to play on Friday.
ImpactGallo sat out Thursday's practice for rest because the Nuggets will need him at full strength with Ty Lawson (heel) doubtful to suit up. He's coming off a poor shooting performance and hasn't shot above 50 percent from the field in a game since March 7, but he should continue to get plenty of looks as long as he's out there.
Danilo Gallinari scores 24 points in loss | 03/25/2013 10:49 PM
NewsDanilo Gallinari made all 10 of his free throws and shot 5-of-12 from the field for 24 points with two boards, one assist, one steal and four 3-pointers against the Hornets on Monday.
ImpactIt was his fourth game in a row making at least two triples, but Gallo has been cold lately. In his previous four games, he shot just 30.4 percent from the field. This is who he is and his owners should continue to start him.
Danilo Gallinari scores 12 points vs. Philly | 03/22/2013 12:06 AM
NewsDanilo Gallinari turned the ball over seven times and shot 3-of-10 from the field for 12 points with four boards, two assists, one steal and two 3-pointers against the Sixerson Thursday.
ImpactHe's in one of his patented slumps and shot just 28.6 percent from the field in his previous five. This is who the Rooster is and savvy fantasy owners knew what they signed up for when they drafted him. Gallinari is still worth starting in most leagues.
Danilo Gallinari scores 15 points vs. Memphis | 03/16/2013 12:50 AM
NewsDanilo Gallinari scored 15 points with four boards, two assists, two steals and one 3-pointer in Friday's 87-80 victory over the Grizzlies.
ImpactMost of the Nuggets had sub-par games, including Andre Iguodala (eight points, seven boards, seven assists) and Kenneth Faried (eight points, four boards and four blocks). Gallo played well even against the best defense in the league and he's worth starting in the vast majority of formats.
Gallinari goes cold against the Suns | 03/12/2013 12:56 AM
NewsDanilo Gallinari hit just 1-of-8 shots (no threes) for five points, five rebounds, and one steal over 30 minutes on Monday against the Suns.
ImpactThe Nuggets were able to take advantage of the Suns' problems on the interior, as evidenced by Kosta Koufos' 22 and 10, so Gallo really wasn't needed and once he went cold the ball went away from him.
Danilo Gallinari scores 20 points vs. LAC | 03/08/2013 1:42 AM
NewsDanilo Gallinari shot 8-of-15 from the field for 20 points with six boards, six assists, two steals, one block and two 3-pointers in 35 minutes.
ImpactGeorge Karl has been getting creative with his bench playing well, but Gallo is still getting his share of minutes. He's shot at least 50 percent in each of his last two games, which is the first time he's done that since January.
Danilo Gallinari bounces back for nice game | 03/06/2013 12:41 AM
NewsDanilo Gallinari hit 7-of-11 shots and five 3-pointers for 23 points, four rebounds and four assists in Tuesday's win.
ImpactHe had missed three of his last night games with a thigh injury and had scored seven or fewer points in four straight before tonight's mini-explosion. He looked great in this one and his strong play rendered Wilson Chandler and Corey Brewer useless. It's time to get Gallo back into fantasy lineups.
Gallinari quiet again in Monday's win vs. ATL | 03/05/2013 1:00 AM
NewsDanilo Gallinari was quiet in Monday's 104-88 win over the Hawks, scoring seven points on 3-of-6 shooting (including a three) with five rebounds and one assist in 27 minutes.
ImpactGallo has another three games this week to get back on track, but if you started him this week you're hoping his thigh injury from last week isn't going to derail him. Andre Iguodala scored 12 points with six boards, six assists and two threes, and Ty Lawson went for 18 and eight with three steals and two threes in the win.
Gallinari (thigh) returns to action on Friday | 03/02/2013 5:16 AM
NewsDanilo Gallinari (thigh) returned to action on Friday against the Thunder, lasting 22 minutes on his way to seven points on 2-of-7 shooting (including a three) with two rebounds, one steal and one block.
ImpactGallo probably pressed to return for such a big game and by the numbers he certainly appeared to be limited. The Nuggets don't play until Monday against the Hawks, and with the rest and a four-game week on the slate we're thinking he will be in most owners' lineups in weekly formats.

Danilo Gallinari a game-time decision Friday | 03/01/2013 10:05 AM
NewsDanilo Gallinari (thigh) is a game-time decision on Friday.
ImpactGeorge Karl was confident Gallo would play on Wednesday, but he wound up sitting out and will probably be a true game-time call on Friday. If he sits, look for Wilson Chandler to once again take his place in the starting lineup.

ImpactGeorge Karl said earlier on Wednesday that Gallo would play, but it appears he spoke too soon. He played through his thigh bruise last week and he still hasn't recovered from the injury. Wilson Chandler will start again and should be in all lineups as a terrific spot start.

Candace Buckner on Twitter
ImpactGallinari was less than optimistic on Tuesday when asked if he would be able to suit up and Karl also said Monday he thought Gallo would be able to play, which he didn't. Realistically, this is going to be a legitimate game-time decision and owners will just have to check back closer to tip-off for the final world.

ImpactGallinari has been struggling with this thigh bruise for nearly a week now. He was a limited participant in Tuesday's practice. "I thought the recovery would be a little faster but it's not going very fast," he said. Expect Gallinari to end up as a true game-time call Wednesday night.

NewsDanilo Gallinari (thigh bruise) played only 15 minutes in Saturday's win over the Bobcats, scoring six points on two 3-pointers, with two assists, one steal and two blocks.
ImpactThe injury limited him to six points on Friday, also, and we're forced to consider him questionable for Monday's game vs. the Lakers. When healthy he's a lock for all lineups, with February averages of 17.7 points, 2.1 threes, 6.1 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 0.9 blocks.
