Jonny Gomes hit a walkoff two-run homer as the Red Sox rallied to beat the Rays on Tuesday night.
Boston also won the first half of Tuesday's doubleheader with Tampa Bay. Gomes did not play in that earlier game and had not managed a hit through his first three at-bats when he came to the plate in the bottom of the ninth. The rest, as they say, is history.

J.J. Hardy went 3-for-4 with a home run as the Orioles beat the Tigers 5-2 on Tuesday.
Hardy had two singles to go with the two-run homer, giving him 14 home runs and 42 RBI on the season. The Orioles lineup is not lacking in hitters having great years, and Hardy is no exception.

Jake Odorizzi yielded just one earned run over 5 2/3 innings but the Rays lost to the Red Sox in the second half of Tuesday's doubleheader at Fenway Park.
Odorizzi definitely did his part, allowing only five hits and striking out two while issuing no walks. He was up as the 26th man for Tuesday's twin-billing and will likely be sent back to Triple-A Durham on Wednesday.
