ImpactCalhoun hit the first of back-to-back jacks with Mike Trout off of Chris Young in the third inning. Though he has been in a bit of a slump lately, Calhoun has been a productive hitter atop the Angel lineup, slashing .291/.348/.513 with 11 home runs and 26 RBI.

NewsKole Calhoun went 4-for-5, scoring four runs and ripping an RBI double in Thursday's win against the Rangers.
ImpactCalhoun and Mike Trout, the Angels' 1-2 hitters, combined to reach base eight times, score seven runs, and knock in five of their own. It's no surprise that the Angels' win was a laugher. Calhoun raises average to .301 with 3-hit day | 07/06/2014 9:26 PM
NewsKole Calhoun homered and finished 3-for-3 in Sunday's win over the Astros.
ImpactCalhoun's second consecutive three-hit day raised his average over .300 for the first time this season, as he's now batting .301 with an .882 OPS. His homer was his ninth home run of the year, and he also scored on an Albert Pujols single in the third inning. He's scored 42 runs in 52 games this season and should approach 100 atop the Angels lineup.
Calhoun hits two-run homer as Angels sweep DH | 07/02/2014 12:47 AM
NewsKole Calhoun finished 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and two runs scored, and the Angels completed the doubleheader sweep with a 7-5 win over the White Sox on Tuesday.
ImpactCalhoun has been on a tear in recent days, as Tuesday's nightcap was his fourth multi-hit game in his last six contests. The homer, his eighth of the year, was also his third in the last nine games. The dual threat has been rather quiet on the basepaths this season, perhaps due to the ankle injury that forced him to miss over a month of games, but he's batting a helpful .284/.345/.494 at the top of a potent Angels lineup and should continue to fill the stat sheet going forward.
Kole Calhoun blasts sixth homer in victory | 06/22/2014 11:13 PM
NewsKole Calhoun blasted his sixth home run of the season in Sunday's victory over the Rangers.
ImpactCalhoun finished the night 1-for-3 and also drew a walk, scored twice and drove home a pair of runs. He continues to see regular playing time atop the Angels lineup against most right-handed pitching, making him a nice option as a fourth or fifth outfielder in mixed leagues.

Calhoun has done well for the Halos at the plate when called upon, slashing .276/.336/.470 with five home runs and 12 RBI in 147 plate appearances.

Kole Calhoun homers, knocks in three | 06/07/2014 1:42 AM
NewsKole Calhoun had a leadoff homer and a two-run double Friday against the White Sox.
ImpactCalhoun hit at the bottom of the order in his return from the disabled list, but he's getting another look in the leadoff spot now and the nice game tonight could help keep him there. He's certainly a more interesting option in mixed leagues while hitting ahead of Mike Trout and Albert Pujols.
Angels activate Calhoun from DL | 05/21/2014 6:46 PM
NewsAngels activated outfielder Kole Calhoun from the 15-day disabled list.
ImpactCalhoun is starting in right field and batting sixth tonight. He was leading off before injuring his ankle, and he'd be a better option in shallow mixed leagues if he can regain that spot. If he hits in the bottom half of the lineup, he'll score far fewer runs and won't make up for it with a bunch of RBI chances, not with Raul Ibanez likely hitting ahead of him.
Calhoun could be back as soon as Wednesday | 05/19/2014 9:05 PM
NewsKole Calhoun (ankle) could be activated from the disabled list as soon as Wednesday.
Jeff Fletcher on Twitter
ImpactIt's possible the Angels could wait until Friday after the off day Thursday, but Calhoun seems to be ready after picking up seven hits -- including a homer -- in his first 12 rehab at-bats. The young outfielder has been sidelined since mid-April with a badly sprained right ankle.

NewsAngels manager Mike Scioscia said Kole Calhoun will miss 4-6 weeks with a bad ligament sprain.
Jeff Fletcher on Twitter
ImpactIt's a tough blow to the Angels and fantasy owners, as Calhoun was really turning it on before the injury. Calhoun had seven hits in his last 15 at-bats prior to rolling his ankle late in Wednesday's game. The Angels will rely on Collin Cowgill and Brennan Boesch in right field for the time being, but the team may take a look at external options now that Calhoun will miss significant time.

ImpactCalhoun rolled the ankle in the 11th inning of Tuesday's game, and it was immediately clear he was headed for a DL stint. Calhoun was on crutches in the clubhouse after the game, saying the ankle "hurt real bad." Hopefully it's just a 15-day thing and won't require a longer stay. Brennan Boesch was recalled to take his roster spot.
Calhoun (ankle) to hit 15-day disabled list | 04/16/2014 3:37 AM
NewsAngels manager Mike Scioscia told the media after Tuesday's game that Kole Calhoun (ankle) is heading for the disabled list.
Susan Slusser on Twitter
ImpactCalhoun will join Josh Hamilton on the shelf after painfully rolling his ankle running through first base in the 11st inning. "I just rolled it and it hurt real bad," said Calhoun, who was on crutches after the game. "It's just a freak thing, you know?" We won't know Calhoun's timeline until he's further evaluated. The San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser wondered on Twitter whether Los Angeles could target Sam Fuld, who was recently waived by the A's. Unless they bring somebody else in, Collin Cowgill is likely in line for more at-bats in the near future.
Calhoun leaves game with ankle injury | 04/16/2014 2:21 AM
NewsKole Calhoun left Tuesday's game against the A's in the 11th inning after rolling his ankle.
Susan Slusser on Twitter
ImpactCalhoun grounded out to second and caught his foot in the dirt when he tried to stop his momentum after crossing first base. In clear agony, but never hitting the ground, Calhoun didn't put any weight on his ankle as he was helped off the field. We should know more about his status on Wednesday. Hopefully he doesn't require a DL stint, because Calhoun has collected three straight multi-hit games and blasted a homer tonight while finishing 3-for-6.
Kole Calhoun sparks Halos from leadoff spot | 04/07/2014 6:19 PM
NewsKole Calhoun hit a solo homer, walked twice and scored three runs in Monday's win over the Astros.
ImpactCalhoun has struggled early on this season but today gave the Halos what they've been looking for out of the leadoff spot. The home run was his second on the season, and he upped his batting line to .179/.233/.429. We remain bullish on the young outfielder.
Calhoun blasts three-run homer vs. Dodgers | 03/30/2014 12:01 AM
NewsKole Calhoun hit a three-run home run in the Angels' win over the Dodgers on Saturday.
ImpactCalhoun hit the three-run shot off Dodgers right-hander Dan Haren in the second inning. The Angels and fantasy owners are expecting big things from the 26-year-old this year, and for good reason -- Calhoun is slated to bat leadoff ahead of Mike Trout and Albert Pujols to start the year. He could put up sneaky good numbers this season.

Calhoun 'leading candidate' to hit leadoff | 02/13/2014 7:42 PM
NewsAlden Gonzalez of MLB.com writes that Kole Calhoun "still looks like the leading candidate" to hit leadoff for the Angels.
ImpactErick Aybar is the other candidate, and it's possible he'll hit leadoff against lefties and Calhoun will hit there against righties. With Mike Trout, Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton following him, Calhoun makes for a big-time fantasy sleeper if he settles into the top spot in the order. He hit .282/.347/.462 with eight homers and 32 RBI in 195 at-bats for the Halos last season after a ridiculous .354/.431/.617 line at Triple-A.
Kole Calhoun named starting right fielder | 11/22/2013 10:13 PM
NewsAngels general manager Jerry Dipoto indicated Friday that Kole Calhoun would be the Angels likely starter in right field in 2014.
Los Angeles Times
ImpactWith Friday's trade of Peter Bourjos, Mike Trout moves back to center field while Josh Hamilton shifts from right to left, creating the everyday opening for Calhoun. The 26-year-old outfielder had a very productive season for the Halos in 2013, slashing .282/.347/.462 with eight homers and 32 RBI in 195 at-bats.
Calhoun belts eighth homer in loss to M's | 09/22/2013 7:28 PM
NewsKole Calhoun belted his eighth home run of the season in a losing effort against the Mariners on Sunday.
ImpactThe solo shot off Yoervis Medina in the eighth inning was his lone hit in four at-bats in the ballgame. He's had a productive rookie season with the Halos, slashing .287/.351/.480 with eight homers, 31 RBI and a stolen base in just 171 at-bats.
Calhoun goes 3-for-5 with three RBI and run | 09/17/2013 1:24 AM

Kole Calhoun goes 3-for-4 for Angels | 09/09/2013 10:49 PM
NewsGetting a rare start against a lefty, Kole Calhoun finished up 3-for-4 with an RBI double Monday against the Twins.
ImpactThe double off Pedro Hernandez put the Angels on the board in the fourth. Calhoun had been playing exclusively against righties. The nice game tonight should get him more opportunities versus lefties this month.
Kole Calhoun hits cleanup, belts homer in win | 08/30/2013 11:49 PM
NewsKole Calhoun, hitting cleanup in Mike Scioscia's lineup in place of Josh Hamilton, belted a homer in the Angels' 5-0 victory over the Brewers.
ImpactCalhoun finished the night 2-for-3 with a walk and a pair of runs scored. He's done a very nice job whenever called upon this season, hitting .253/.340/.462 with five homers and 13 RBI in just 91 at-bats. He's an interesting prospect and could develop into a high-quality fantasy contributor if he could find his way into everyday at-bats.
Kole Calhoun hits first big-league homer | 08/03/2013 1:46 AM
NewsKole Calhoun went 4-for-6 and hit his first major league home run Friday as the Angels beat the Blue Jays 7-5.
ImpactCalhoun is 8-for-19 with three walks since replacing Albert Pujols on the roster, and not only is he getting to start against right-handers, but he's batting leadoff against them, too. Since he will likely sit against most left-handers, he's not a must-add in mixed leagues. He should carry significant AL-only value going forward, though.
Calhoun has big night out of leadoff spot | 08/02/2013 1:03 AM
NewsKole Calhoun went 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored, and a stolen base in Thursday's win over the Blue Jays.
ImpactCalhoun, who was called up from Triple-A Salt Lake over the weekend, was making his first career start out of the leadoff spot. And it's safe to say that Angels manager Mike Scioscia may give him another chance there soon. The 25-year-old outfielder was hitting .354/.431/.617 with 12 home runs and 10 stolen bases through 59 games this season prior to his promotion. With his on-base ability and power-speed combo, he could have some sneaky value in AL-only leagues moving forward.
Kole Calhoun recalled from Triple-A | 07/28/2013 12:15 PM
NewsAngels recalled OF Kole Calhoun from Triple-A Salt Lake.
ImpactCalhoun had just four hits in 23 at-bats earlier this season for the Halos, but he's hit .354/.431/.617 with 12 homers and 10 steals at Sale Lake. He could see some playing time in right field on days Josh Hamilton is in the DH spot.
Kole Calhoun likely to be recalled on Sunday | 07/27/2013 10:22 PM
NewsKole Calhoun will likely be recalled by the Angels on Sunday to take the place of Albert Pujols.
Mike DiGiovanna on Twitter
ImpactCalhoun was held out of Saturday's game at Triple-A Salt Lake, likely because he's on his way to Oakland with Pujols (foot) facing a disabled list stint. Calhoun is batting .354/.431/.617 in 59 games this season with Salt Lake but he's not going to be a great fantasy bet.
Calhoun gets surgery for broken hamate bone | 04/09/2013 4:50 PM

Tim Mead on Twitter
ImpactCalhoun will be out for a minimum of six weeks. He suffered the injury last Thursday at Triple-A Salt Lake.
Angels make several cuts | 03/31/2013 8:17 AM
NewsAngels optioned OF Kole Calhoun, INF Luis Jimenez, RHP David Carpenter and C John Hester to Triple-A Salt Lake; reassigned C Chris Snyder and LHP Mitch Stetter to minor league camp.
ImpactThere are a couple surprises here, as Calhoun was expected to be carried over J.B. Shuck, and Snyder was expected to be the backup catcher over Hank Conger. Mark Lowe and Garrett Richards made the Angels' Opening Day bullpen, while Conger, Shuck, Brendan Harris and Andrew Romine will be on the bench.
