Colabello hits sixth homer in loss to Yanks | 07/06/2014 6:44 PM
NewsChris Colabello went 2-for-3 with a double, a homer and two RBI in a loss to the Yankees on Sunday.
ImpactColabello has been producing since being recalled on July 2, collecting two doubles and two home runs in three games. It's worth noting he enjoyed a similarly hot start to the season before being demoted. The 30-year-old is hitting .245/.294/.434 overall.
Chris Colabello recalled from Triple-A | 07/02/2014 10:59 AM
NewsTwins recalled 1B/OF Chris Colabello from Triple-A Rochester.
ImpactColabello was optioned in late May after hitting .232/.280/.377 with four homers and 30 RBI for the big club. He batted .275/.347/.473 with six homers and 27 RBI over 36 games for Rochester to earn his way back. Colabello should see some time at first base while Joe Mauer (oblique) is out.
Twins option struggling Colabello to Triple-A | 05/25/2014 7:20 PM
NewsTwins optioned 1B Chris Colabello to Triple-A Rochester.
ImpactColabello began the season on a tear at the plate, and has racked up 30 RBI on the season, but is hitting just .118/.151/.196 with one homer and three RBI in his last 15 games. He should be back with the Twins at some point this season.
Chris Colabello could be demoted | 05/25/2014 2:04 PM
NewsChris Colabello could be optioned to Triple-A Rochester before Monday's game.
Mike Berardino on Twitter
ImpactJosh Willingham (wrist) and Oswaldo Arcia will be added back to the Twins' roster, and it sounds like Colabello could lose his spot. "He's not swinging very well right now," manager Ron Gardenhire said. Colabello was a great story in April when he batted .295/.343/.484 with three homers and 27 RBI, but he's been a disaster so far in May with a .125/.169/.196 batting line and 23 strikeouts over 59 plate appearances.
Chris Colabello goes 0-for-5 | 05/15/2014 4:56 PM
NewsChris Colabello went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts against the Red Sox on Monday and is 7-for-52 with 23 strikeouts this month.
ImpactAs a result of his early barrage, Colabello is still in the top 10 in baseball with 30 RBI. However, just three of them have come in May. At this point, he looks like a weak link for the Twins, and there'd be a good case for demoting him to make room for the returning Josh Willingham.
Collabello provides pop but Twins lose to CLE | 05/06/2014 9:35 PM
NewsChris Colabello went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's loss to the Indians.
ImpactIndians starter Josh Tomlin held the Twins' offense at bay for most of the night until Colabello was able to drive a fly ball over the fence in left-center in the seventh inning. The blast marked his fourth of the season. Colabello ranks fifth in baseball with 28 RBI and is currently enjoying a productive .270/.315/.451 slash line, though it had been lowered noticeably by a recent slump.
Colabello singles in win over Orioles | 05/03/2014 5:28 PM
NewsChris Colabello singled and struck out twice in Saturday's win over the Orioles.
ImpactPer Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the single was the first ball Colabello hit into the outfield in eight days. Including Saturday, he's hitting .100 (3-for-30) with nine strikeouts over his last seven games. Regression is a heck of a thing.
Collabello drives in four as Twins win in 12 | 04/24/2014 12:01 AM
NewsChris Colabello went 2-for-6 with a home run and four runs batted in as the Twins beat the Rays in 12 innings on Wednesday.
ImpactColabello had a big game, driving a two-run home run off of Jake Odorizzi in the fourth inning, and breaking a 4-4 tie in the top of the 12th with a two-run single off of Josh Lueke. Colabello, who rejected an offer to play in Korea during the off-season, has had a remarkable start to the season, currently leading the American League with 26 RBI.
Colabello hits 2nd home run in loss to Rays | 04/22/2014 10:27 PM
NewsChris Colabello went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's loss to the Rays.
ImpactThose waiting for Colabello's insane production to fall off will continue to wait, as he took David Price deep for his second home run of the season in Tuesday's loss. Home runs is one of the only categories in which he's not among the league leaders, as he leads the AL with 22 RBI, is third in batting average (.347) and fourth in OPS (.945) through 19 games.
Chris Colabello knocks in three in nightcap | 04/17/2014 11:31 PM
NewsChris Colabello went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI as the Twins came from behind to beat the Blue Jays 9-5 in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader.
ImpactTwins hitters walked eight times in a six-run eighth to take the lead, and Glen Perkins finished off the doubleheader sweep from there. Colabello went 5-for-7 with four RBI on the day. He has just one homer in 53 at-bats, which is a modest surprise, but he's driven in an AL-leading 19 runs.
Colaballo has three more base hits Tuesday | 04/16/2014 12:06 AM
NewsChris Colaballo continued his strong April on Tuesday, going 3-for-5 with an RBI in a loss to the Blue Jays.
ImpactColabello leads the American League with 15 RBI after first inning RBI double. He's hitting .306/.346/.490 through the team's first 13 games after management basically tried to sell him for parts this winter. It remains to be seen how long he'll be able to continue at this pace, but he's worth riding until the wheel stops.
Colabello drives in three runs to lead Twins | 04/11/2014 11:29 PM
NewsChris Colabello continued his hot-hitting on Friday, driving in three more runs to lead the Twins in a 10-1 thrashing of the Royals.
ImpactColabello finished the night 2-for-3 with a double, run scored and three RBI. Injuries to Oswaldo Arcia and Josh Willingham opened the door for everyday at-bats, and Colaballo has run with the opportunity, slashing .308/.341/.513 with a league-high 14 RBI. As long as he remains in the middle of the Twins lineup, fantasy owners should continue to ride his hot streak.
Colabello making first start in the outfield | 04/07/2014 1:16 PM
NewsChris Colabello is in right field, batting fourth in Monday's starting lineup against the Athletics.
Phil Miller on Twitter
ImpactColabello is making his first start in the outfield since August 15 last season. He has mostly been used at first base and DH, but Josh Willingham and Oswaldo Arcia are ailing at the moment. Colabello is off to a hot start, slashing .391/.417/.696 through six games.
Colabello drives in four more to lead Twins | 04/06/2014 5:10 PM
NewsChris Colabello continued his hot hitting Sunday, going 2-for-5 while driving in four runs in a victory over the Indians.
ImpactBatting in the cleanup spot for the fourth straight game, Colabello singled in a run in the fourth before providing the big blow of the game with a bases-clearing double in the sixth. The 30-year-old is now leading the American League with a whopping 11 RBI over his first six games. Colabello should continue to see regular at-bats while he's hot, and his work last year at Triple-A (.352/.427/.639 with 24 homers in 89 games) suggests the production might not be a total fluke.
Chris Colabello drives in six runs in win | 04/03/2014 6:32 PM
NewsChris Colabello knocked in six runs with a pair of doubles and a groundout in the Twins' 10-9 win over the White Sox on Thursday.
ImpactNot bad for a guy the Twins tried to sell to Korea in the offseason. Colabello made the team over Chris Parmelee and Alex Presley in something of an upset, and he's currently starting against left-handers, with Jason Kubel taking a seat on the bench. An expanded role would be a possibility if he continues to produce, but he still has very limited fantasy value at the moment.
Chris Colabello goes 3-for-3 in comeback | 03/07/2014 5:12 PM
NewsChris Colabello went 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored as the Twins came back to beat the Pirates 6-5 on Friday.
ImpactThe Twins tried to pick up some extra cash by selling Colabello to a Korean team in December, but he declined to make the move. That obviously doesn't bode well for his chances of making the team this spring, but he is making a case while starting off 5-for-11 with five walks. If he makes the team, it would probably be as a DH against left-handers.
Colabello rejects offer to play in Korea | 12/21/2013 7:18 PM
NewsChris Colabello has rejected an offer to play in South Korea next season, according to Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Mike Berardino on Twitter
Impact"Things are always subject to change, but Chris made it clear he wants to help the Minnesota Twins," Colabello's agent Brian Charles said. The Twins were considering sending the first baseman to a team in the Korean Baseball Organization, but Colabello has no interest in changing leagues at this point. The 30-year-old hit .194/.287/.344 this past season with the Twins.
Twins could sent Chris Colabello to Korea | 12/21/2013 8:27 AM
NewsMike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that the Twins are considering sending Chris Colabello to Korea.
St. Paul Pioneer Press
ImpactBerardino notes that the Twins have already had conversations with at least one team in the Korean Baseball Organization, and are said to be "hyper-aggressive" in their demands for Colabello's buyout fee which could exceed $1 million. The Twins need to clear a spot on the 40-man roster after signing Kurt Suzuki, and Colabello seems the most likely to be squeezed off. The 30-year-old would have to approve any transaction, and could be designated for assignment if he doesn't opt to head overseas.
Colabello homers, drives in three versus Jays | 09/06/2013 11:31 PM
NewsChris Colabello went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI against the Blue Jays on Friday.
ImpactColabello has hit three homers in his last four games and now has seven home runs in limited time this season. The first baseman hit an RBI single in the second inning before launching his two-run shot in the seventh. With Justin Morneau gone, the 29-year-old will have plenty of chances during this last month of the season to make an impression on the Twins brass.
Colabello stands to benefit from Morneau deal | 08/31/2013 6:50 PM
NewsChris Colabello is likely to get more at-bats at first base with Justin Morneau gone.
Rhett Bollinger on Twitter
ImpactColabello has played outfield primarily but has logged 58 innings at first with the Twins this year, and with no better options ahead of him it seems as though the Twins will give the 29-year-old a chance to show what he's got in the season's final month. Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Trevor Plouffe and Chris Herrmann will also see increased time at first base.
Chris Colabello recalled from Triple-A | 08/20/2013 10:46 PM
NewsTwins recalled OF Chris Colabello from Triple-A Rochester.
ImpactColabello was sent down last week despite a hot bat, but he gets to return with Joe Mauer on the DL. He'll see some playing time against left-handers.
Chris Colabello optioned to Triple-A | 08/16/2013 2:45 PM
NewsTwins optioned OF Chris Colabello to Triple-A Rochester.
ImpactColabello was given a shot at extended playing time over the last month and batted .243/.338/.429 with four homers over 22 games, but it wasn't enough to keep him around. He'll be back when rosters expand.
Colabello batting .409/.536/.727 since Aug. 6 | 08/15/2013 7:21 PM
NewsChris Colabello is batting a blistering .409/.536/.727 with two homers in 28 plate appearances since August 6.
ImpactEntering play that day, Colabello was batting .164/.203/.262 over his first 21 games in the majors. Colabello, who played seven seasons in the Canadian-American Association, had a strong performance for Italy during the World Baseball Classic before obliterating Triple-A pitching (.354/.432/.652 with 24 homers and 76 RBI). The 29-year-old struggled mightily in his first stint with the Twins in late May and scuffled again when he was recalled in July. Now that he's no longer pressing -- and, more importantly, is getting consistent playing time in Minnesota -- the outfielder makes for a nice value in AL-only formats.
Colabello homers in loss to Mariners | 07/28/2013 7:35 PM
NewsChris Colabello went 2-for-4 with a home run Sunday agains the Mariners.
ImpactColabello has struggled in his first 49 plate appearances with the Twins, but has now homered in two of his last three games. He's still batting only .208/.240/.333 this season and remains nothing more than an AL-only option.
Chris Colabello homers in 13-inning victory | 07/27/2013 2:10 AM
NewsChris Colabello finally came through for the Twins on Friday, hitting a two-run homer in the top of the 13th in a 3-2 win over the Mariners.
ImpactKendrys Morales brought the Mariners closer with a solo shot in the bottom of the 13th, but it wasn't enough. For Colabello, it was his first extra-base hit in 41 at-bats. He entered the night with a .135/.158/.135 line and one RBI, but the big blow should guarantee that he's included in Saturday's starting lineup.
Chris Colabello goes hitless in loss | 07/24/2013 6:31 PM
NewsChris Colabello went 0-for-3 on Wednesday and is just 2-for-18 since his callup.
ImpactIn two stints with the Angels this year, Colabello is hitting .118/.118/.118 in 34 at-bats. Now, 34 at-bats is practically nothing, but the 13/0 K/BB ratio hardly seems to bode well.
Chris Colabello to play regularly | 07/21/2013 10:00 AM
NewsTwins manager Ron Gardenhire said Saturday that Chris Colabello will be given a chance to play regularly.
Impact"We just want to see him get some swings. The kid's done everything you can do in Triple-A," Gardenhire said. "He's earned a shot here. For the most part, he's going to get consistent swings." Colabello has started at DH in each of the first two games of the second half, contributing an RBI single Saturday. He's 29 and not really a prospect, but with a .354/.432/.652 batting line with 24 homers at Triple-A, he's worth a shot in deeper leagues.
Chris Colabello recalled from Triple-A | 07/19/2013 9:22 AM
NewsTwins recalled INF/OF Chris Colabello from Triple-A Rochester.
ImpactColabello has just two hits in 16 at-bats during his brief time with the Twins this season, but he's crushed the ball at Triple-A, batting .354/.432/.652 with 24 homers and 76 RBI. With Oswaldo Arcia and Chris Parmelee back in the minors, Colabello should get a shot at pretty regular playing time. He's worth a look in AL-only formats.

NewsTwins recalled INF Chris Colabello from Triple-A Rochester.
ImpactColabello will serve as the team's 26th man during Sunday's doubleheader against the Nationals. He had two hits in 15 at-bats earlier this season for the Twins and will surely be sent back down after the game.
