|Assets:||Has an ideal pitchers' frame at 6-4, 220 pounds. Throws plenty of strikes and can be absolutely dominant on the bump via the strikeout. Also has the ability to close out ball games at all levels.|
|Flaws:||When his pitches elevate, he gets into trouble because he can't survive on stuff alone in the bigs. Could stand to waste a few more pitches, so as to keep hitters more honest. His secondary pitches aren't great.|

Reed wraps up Sunday's win for 23rd save | 07/20/2014 7:16 PM
NewsAddison Reed enjoyed a 1-2-3 ninth inning en route to his 23rd save as the Diamondbacks eked out a win over the Cubs on Sunday.
Impact1-2-3 innings have been few and far between for Reed this season, his first with the D'Backs. Sunday's outing leaves him 23-for-28 in save chances with a 4.08 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP, and a 44/10 K/BB ratio in 39 2/3 innings.
Addison Reed earns 22nd save | 07/19/2014 1:13 AM
NewsAddison Reed protected a one-run lead in the ninth for his 22nd save as the Diamondbacks topped the Cubs 5-4 on Friday.
ImpactTwo in a row for Reed after he blew three of his previous six chances. If he can put up another zero next time out, it'll be the first time he's gone three straight appearances without allowing a run since May 17-June 1, when he went six in a row.
Reed gets save as Diamondbacks top Giants | 07/12/2014 7:01 PM
NewsAddison Reed picked up his 21st save of the season Saturday in the Diamondbacks' 2-0 win over the Giants.
ImpactReed retired all three batters he faced in the bottom of the ninth inning. It was a needed clean outing for the 25-year-old right-hander, who has blown five saves and owns a rough 4.30 ERA in 37 2/3 innings this season.
Gibson sticking with Addison Reed at closer | 07/09/2014 2:01 PM
NewsDiamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson on Wednesday said that Addison Reed remains the team's closer.
Nick Piecoro on Twitter
ImpactReed blew another save Tuesday, serving up a two-out, two-run homer to Marcell Ozuna in a loss to the Marlins. The reliever has blown five saves, allowed a whopping nine home runs over 36 2/3 innings and has a 4.42 ERA, but Gibson obviously thinks he's still the club's best option in the ninth inning. We can't imagine Reed having more leash going forward, but then again we figured a change would probably have been made by now. Brad Ziegler remains the best bet for saves in Arizona if the Snakes eventually make a move.
Reed blows another save against the Marlins | 07/09/2014 12:23 AM
NewsAddison Reed gave up a two-run homer to blow a save and take the loss in Tuesday's 2-1 setback versus the Marlins.
ImpactReed came on in a tense pitcher's duel and promptly walked Ed Lucas. It looked like he would dance around danger after Reed mowed down Giancarlo Stanton and drew a line out from Casey McGehee, but Marcell Ozuna took him deep. Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson continues to stick by the 25-year-old stopper, but even Job would be running out of patience by this point. Having coughed up nine homers, Reed is four away from matching his career output prior to this season. He's 1-5 and 20-for-25 in save conversions to go to with a 4.42 ERA.
Reed closes out Braves for 20th save Sunday | 07/06/2014 4:32 PM
NewsAddison Reed allowed one hit but finished the Braves off for his 20th save on Sunday.
ImpactReed surrendered a leadoff single to Tommy La Stella before striking out Christian Bethancourt and getting Ryan Doumit to ground into a double play. It was a nice rebound from blowing his fourth save his last time out. Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson has said he's sticking with Reed, so adventurous fantasy owners need to stick with him while he's getting save chances, too.
D'Backs sticking with closer Addison Reed | 07/03/2014 8:06 AM
NewsDiamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said Wednesday that he's sticking with Addison Reed at closer.
ImpactReed blew his fourth save of the season Tuesday in Arizona's loss to the Pirates and owns an ugly 4.15 ERA in 34 2/3 total innings this season, but Gibson was annoyed that the question was even asked Wednesday. "I think he's been pretty good," Gibson said. "He's done a pretty good job for us. We've had no discussions about removing him. You might feel differently, but we don't."
Reed blows fourth save in loss to Pirates | 07/01/2014 9:49 PM
NewsAddison Reed allowed two inherited runs to score and gave up a walk-off single in Tuesday's loss to the Pirates.
ImpactReed entered in a tough spot, coming in with two runners on and nobody out, but he didn't do much to inspire confidence, either. After getting an out on a long fly ball from Josh Harrison, Starling Marte hit a two-run double off the center field wall to tie the game. After an intentional walk to Andrew McCutchen, Ike Davis hit the game-winning single, saddling Reed with his fourth loss of the year. Reed now has a 4.15 ERA and 1.21 WHIP, and his job security, while still safe, slips a little more with each blown save.
Reed blows save No. 3 against the Indians | 06/25/2014 3:23 AM
NewsAddison Reed allowed one run on a single and two walks in the ninth inning to blow his third save Tuesday against the Indians.
ImpactReed has given up a run in 15 of his 33 appearances, not exactly what Arizona was hoping for when they dealt third baseman Matt Davidson for the closer in December. If there's a silver lining, it's that Reed hasn't allowed more than two runs in any appearance; he's been consistently mediocre, but never putrid. He isn't the best fit for Arizona as a fly-ball pitcher, and Reed set his career-high for homers allowed earlier this month (it was previously six; he's coughed up eight so far). The Snakes don't have enough pitching or short-term playoff aspirations to consider displacing Reed, and it's not like his 4.18 ERA demands it.
Reed allows run in non-save situation Sunday | 06/15/2014 9:25 PM
NewsAddison Reed allowed two hits and one run in a non-save situation against the Dodgers on Sunday.
ImpactGetting some work with a 6-2 lead, Reed allowed an Andre Ethier single and a two-out double by Hanley Ramirez before retiring Yasiel Puig to end the game. Reed has now allowed runs in three of his last five appearances, owning a 4.15 ERA on the year. His seat may not be red hot, but manager Kirk Gibson may begin to consider other options if he doesn't get it figured out soon.
Addison Reed converts 16th save | 06/10/2014 8:06 PM
NewsAddison Reed nailed down his 16th save of the season with a scoreless frame in Tuesday's win over the Astros.
ImpactReed preserved the three-run lead with ease, inducing a groundout and a couple strikeouts. It's often been rocky for Reed, who dropped his ERA to an un-closer-like 3.99. However, he's converted 16-of-18 save chances and appears to have a decent amount of leash.
Addison Reed gives up eighth homer | 06/08/2014 2:27 AM
NewsWorking in a tie game, Addison Reed gave up his eighth homer of the year Saturday to Jason Heyward in the 10th inning against the Braves.
ImpactMiguel Montero let Reed off the hook by homering in the bottom of the 10th to retie the game. Reed's eight homers allowed in 28 1/3 innings this year is a ridiculous total -- he's already two-thirds of the way to the MLB-high for any reliever in 2012 -- but he's 15-for-17 saving games anyway. There's no need for Arizona to consider a change in the ninth.
Addison Reed notches 14th save | 05/25/2014 4:47 PM
NewsAddison Reed nailed down his 14th save of the season with a scoreless inning in Sunday's win over the Mets.
ImpactYes, it was a scoreless inning, but it was a nail-biter. Reed allowed back-to-back one-out singles while protecting the one-run lead, but he was able to escape with a strikeout and then a flyout where Ender Inciarte made a nice catch. While he has a less than inspiring 4.18 ERA, Reed has converted 14-of-16 save chances and has pretty good job security.
Reed gets 13th save as D'Backs beat NYM | 05/24/2014 7:38 PM
NewsAddison Reed tallied his 13th save of the season in Saturday's 3-2 defeat of the Mets.
ImpactReed retired all three batters he faced in the bottom of the ninth inning to preserve Arizona's one-run lead. He has an ugly 4.37 ERA this season but ranks among the National League leaders in converted saves.
Gibson says Reed is still D-Backs' closer | 05/13/2014 9:21 AM
NewsDiamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said after Monday's game that Addison Reed is still his closer.
ImpactReed blew his second save of the season and took the loss Monday after giving up home runs to Danny Espinosa and Kevin Frandsen in the ninth inning, but Gibson isn't ready to make a change. "There's no controversy here. He's our closer, and he's done a hell of a job for us," said Gibson. "You can forget that. It didn't work out for us tonight, and it [stinks]." Reed owns a 5.03 ERA in 20 appearances this season and has allowed six home runs in just 19 2/3 innings. His secondary numbers, including a 23/4 K/BB ratio, have been solid, but he can't afford many more hiccups.
Reed earns 10th save, D'Backs beat Brewers | 05/07/2014 4:11 PM
NewsAddison Reed earned his 10th save of 2014 in the Diamondbacks' 3-2 defeat of the Brewers on Wednesday.
ImpactReed gave up a leadoff double to Scooter Gennett in the bottom of the ninth inning and Gennett later scored on a Lyle Overbay sacrifice fly, but Mark Reynolds struck out swinging to end the late Milwaukee rally. Reed has a 4.08 ERA on the year but he's 10-for-11 in save attempts for a Diamondbacks club that has only 13 wins.
Reed fans two in earning 9th save vs. Brewers | 05/07/2014 12:02 AM
NewsAddison Reed struck out two in a perfect inning of work to earn the save against the Brewers on Tuesday.
ImpactAfter allowing two hits, including a home run, his last time out, Reed moved through the ninth inning with much less drama on Tuesday. The save was Reed's ninth of the season in 10 attempts. He owns a 3.78 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 19/4 K/BB ratio over 16 2/3 innings this year.
Addison Reed gives up run, earns save | 04/26/2014 2:11 AM
NewsAddison Reed gave up a run in the ninth Friday, but he still collected his sixth save versus the Phillies.
ImpactThe Diamondbacks thought they were getting one of the game's most dynamic young relievers when they traded for Reed. Instead, they got a guy who is a bit above average, but probably nothing more than that. He should remain a decent enough fantasy closer.
Reed gets fourth save in win over Chicago | 04/23/2014 5:52 PM
NewsAddison Reed collected his fourth save of the season in Wednesday's defeat of the Cubs.
ImpactReed tossed a perfect ninth inning, retiring Mike Olt via groundout, Welington Castillo on a strikeout, and Luis Valbunea on a game-ending lineout. Reed should start to see more save chances as the D'Backs right the ship after what has been a dreadful opening month.
Addison Reed gives up homer to blow save | 04/19/2014 2:39 AM
NewsAddison Reed gave up a homer to Juan Uribe in the ninth to blow his first save of the year on Friday.
ImpactIt was Reed's first blown save, but he's already allowed seven runs -- four earned -- in nine innings this year. The Diamondbacks have shown a stunning lack of patience with their starters thus far, so Reed better not have another misstep right away or he could put his job in jeopardy.
Gibson confirms Reed is Diamondbacks closer | 03/20/2014 9:12 AM
NewsDiamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson confirmed Thursday that Addison Reed will be the team's closer.
Nick Piecoro on Twitter
ImpactGibson wanted to make Reed earn the job this spring and the 25-year-old right-hander succeeded in doing that with seven innings of one-run ball. The Diamondbacks acquired Reed over the offseason from the White Sox in exchange for third base prospect Matt Davidson. Reed should carry great fantasy value this year on a strong Arizona team.
Addison Reed notches another scoreless inning | 03/14/2014 11:27 PM
NewsAddison Reed notched another perfect inning against the Brewers in Cactus League play on Friday, striking out one in the process.
ImpactWith J.J. Putz and Brad Ziegler joining Reed at the back-end of the Diamondbacks bullpen, he needed to have a good spring to solidify himself in that role. He's certainly responded to this point, allowing just one run on five hits, with an 8/1 K/BB ratio through his first seven innings.
Addison Reed strikes out two vs. Dodgers | 02/26/2014 5:48 PM
NewsAddison Reed struck out two in a scoreless inning of work against the Dodgers on Wednesday.
ImpactReed, the D`Backs' new closer, was able to dance around a leadoff single and a two-out double with a pair of strikeouts in the seventh inning. Arizona is hoping to see plenty of that from the right-hander, acquired in an off-season trade with the White Sox.
D'Backs stop short of naming Reed closer | 12/16/2013 9:14 PM
NewsDiamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers on Monday stopped short of naming Addison Reed the team's closer.
Steve Berthiaume on Twitter
ImpactReed cost the D'Backs top third base prospect Matt Davidson, but Towers isn't ready to hand the 25-year-old the ninth inning job just yet. "(He) will be pitching in meaningful role, one way or the other," Towers said. Ultimately, Reed figures to beat out J.J. Putz for the gig.
D'Backs acquire CHW closer Addison Reed | 12/16/2013 2:21 PM
NewsDiamondbacks acquired RHP Addison Reed from the White Sox for 3B Matt Davidson.
ImpactArizona's trade for Mark Trumbo pushed Martin Prado into a full-time role at the hot corner, so the D'Backs used their surplus third baseman to upgrade the back end of the bullpen. Reed had a pedestrian 3.79 ERA in 2013 for Chicago, but he still finished with 40 saves and still has some room for improvement at age 24. He should maintain good fantasy value on a Diamondbacks team that will be looking to contend in 2014.
Arizona close to trade for RP Addison Reed | 12/16/2013 1:57 PM
NewsMLB.com's Steve Gilbert reports that the Diamondbacks are close to acquiring White Sox closer Addison Reed.
Steve Gilbert on Twitter
ImpactMatt Davidson, a promising third base prospect, is reportedly headed to Chicago. Reed saved 40 games in 2013 for the White Sox while posting a 3.79 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 72/23 K/BB ratio in 71 1/3 frames. The 24-year-old righty should do well in the ninth inning for Arizona and will maintain considerable fantasy value on a good D'Backs team.
Reeds blows save as White Sox fall to DET | 09/21/2013 11:23 PM
NewsAddison Reed blew his seventh save of the season as the White Sox fell to the Tigers on Saturday.
ImpactChicago had a 6-0 lead when the bottom of the ninth inning began, but the Tigers attacked White Sox reliever Nate Jones for five straight hits (and five runs) and then completed the rally against Reed, who walked four. Reed, 24, still owns a decent 3.67 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 69/21 K/BB ratio through 68 2/3 innings this season. He has 38 saves.
Reed notches 37th save against the Orioles | 09/08/2013 6:29 PM
NewsAddison Reed allowed a run but escaped in collecting his 37th save of the season Sunday against the Orioles.
ImpactReed was lucky to have inherited a three-run lead, and luckier to have escaped with only one run charged to his ledger. Baltimore loaded the bases in the ninth with no outs via two walks and a single. Reed induced a run-scoring Ryan Flaherty fielder's choice ground out to first before Brian Roberts' pop out allowed Chicago to double pinch-runner Chris Dickerson off first. Reed has allowed five runs over his last five outings, but Chicago doesn't have anyone nearly talented enough to threaten his job status. He owns a 3.55 ERA and 1.06 WHIP.
Addison Reed suffers 2nd loss, 6th blown save | 09/07/2013 5:01 PM
NewsAddison Reed suffered his second loss and sixth blown save of the season on Saturday, allowing two runs in 2/3 of an inning against the Orioles.
ImpactCole Gillaspie's solo homer in the top of the 10th gave Reed a one-run advantage to protect in the bottom half of the frame. With two outs and runners on second and third, Reed coughed up a walk-off, two-run single to Matt Wieters. The youngster has been roughed up for two losses, a blown save and four runs on six hits (two homers) in his last four appearances. Despite the rough patch, he's in no danger of losing his job.
Addison Reed gives up two homers in loss | 08/27/2013 12:14 AM
NewsAfter coming into a tie game, Addison Reed gave up back-to-back homers in the ninth to take a loss Monday against the Astros.
ImpactThose were just the fourth and fifth homers allowed by Reed in 62 1/3 innings this season. He hadn't given up a run of any sort in 13 innings over his last 11 appearances, and the loss was only his second of the year.
Reed notches 35th save against the Rangers | 08/25/2013 6:20 PM
NewsAddison Reed earned his 35th save of the season Sunday by tossing a scoreless ninth inning against the Rangers.
ImpactThe youngster has tallied 13 straight scoreless innings, slashing his ERA from 3.91 to 3.08 since August 7. Reed seems long removed from a June in which he was whipped to the tune of a 7.62 ERA. He posted a 3.60 ERA in July and has allowed just one run in 15 1/3 August frames.
Reed notches 31st save against the Twins | 08/18/2013 7:49 PM
NewsAddison Reed earned his 31st save of the season Sunday in the White Sox' 5-2 win against the Twins.
ImpactReed struck out one and walked one in the stress-free outing. The youngster has tallied nine straight scoreless innings, cutting his ERA from 3.91 to 3.30 in less than two weeks. As a closer who pitches to contact in front of a shoddy defense, Reed's numbers aren't as good as they should be, but he still owns a decent 3.30 ERA and 1.03 WHIP through 57 1/3 frames.
Reed tallies 28th save in win over Twins | 08/10/2013 7:51 PM
NewsAddison Reed tallied his 28th save of the season Saturday as the White Sox beat the Twins 5-4.
ImpactReed retired all three batters he faced in the top of the ninth inning. He is now 28-for-33 in save opportunities this season with a cool 1.05 WHIP.
Reed suffers fifth blown save against Indians | 07/31/2013 10:48 PM
NewsAddison Reed suffered his fifth blown save of the season on Wednesday, allowing two runs in an inning of work against the Indians.
ImpactMichael Brantley led off the inning with a double before Jason Giambi was hit by a pitch. A Drew Stubbs bunt single to load the bases would be the last hit Reed would surrender, but two sacrifice flies brought home runs. It was the 24-year-old's first blown save in a month.
Reed notches 25th save against the Braves | 07/21/2013 5:37 PM
NewsAddison Reed struck out a batter in a perfect ninth inning to earn his 25th save on Sunday against the Braves.
ImpactHe needed just nine pitches to dispatch Atlanta. Reed struck out four in two scoreless innings over the weekend, nice performances in light of recent struggles. The young closer entered the All-Star break having posted a 6.35 ERA over 17 innings since June 1. Reed had a great K/BB rate and lousy BABIP during that stretch, meaning that his performance wasn't nearly as bad as it appeared to be.
Reed has a 6.35 ERA over last 17 innings | 07/12/2013 7:27 PM
NewsAddison Reed has a 6.35 ERA over 17 innings since June 1.
ImpactReed blew three saves in nine opportunities over that stretch. It hasn't been all bad news, however. Reed has posted an amazing 16/1 K/BB rate since June 1, amidst his struggles. He's been unlucky with balls in play over the last 40 days -- allowing a .308 BABIP -- and has surrendered three homers in that time (after not allowing a long ball in April or May). Reed's job isn't in danger and we expect to see improvement going forward.
Addison Reed blows save and takes loss | 06/29/2013 2:25 AM
NewsAddison Reed took a blown save and his first loss after giving up four runs in the ninth inning Friday against the Indians.
ImpactNow, we can't blame this all on the stupid decision to throw a pitchout on an 0-2 count with none out in the ninth. But what a ridiculous idea that was. After the pitchout, Reed threw a run-scoring wild pitch. He later gave up a game-tying sac fly to Jason Kipnis and a go-ahead homer to Nick Swisher. Reed hasn't had many bat outings this season, but nine of the 16 earned runs he's allowed have come in two appearances, taking a heavy toll on his ERA. He's still an excellent fantasy closer.
Addison Reed gets 19th save, White Sox win | 06/09/2013 4:54 PM
NewsAddison Reed collected his 19th save of the year Sunday as the White Sox beat the A's 4-2.
ImpactReed retired all three batters he faced in order, racking up two strikeouts. There were fatigue concerns after the right-hander threw 55 pitches in Wednesday's extra-innings victory over the Mariners, but he looked fine on Sunday and should remain an excellent fantasy closer going forward. Reed has a superb 1.07 WHIP and 34/9 K/BB ratio in 29 innings this season.
Reed not available for Thursday's game | 06/06/2013 5:49 PM
NewsAddison Reed is not available for Thursday's game against the Athletics.
Doug Padilla on Twitter
ImpactNo surprise here, as Reed threw 55 pitches over three innings in Wednesday's extra-inning win over the Mariners. Jesse Crain would get the ball if a save situation arises Thursday.
Addison Reed awarded win in 16-inning game | 06/05/2013 9:43 PM
NewsAddison Reed was awarded the win Wednesday in a 7-5 victory over the Mariners that lasted 16 innings.
ImpactReed first entered the game in the bottom of the 14th inning with the White Sox up 5-0 and yielded four singles then a game-tying grand slam to Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager. But he threw two scoreless frames after that and the Pale Hose were finally able to break through in the 16th. Reed's ERA shot up from 2.25 to 3.67 but his grip is still firm on Chicago's ninth-inning role.
Addison Reed makes relief appearance | 06/02/2013 8:02 PM
NewsAddison Reed made a relief appearance in Sunday's loss to the Athletics.
ImpactIt was a non-save situation, but Reed hadn't pitched in seven days so the White Sox just wanted to get him some game action. He allowed one run on two hits over one inning of work. Reed has a 2.25 ERA and 1.00 WHIP this season.
Reed earns 17th save, White Sox beat Marlins | 05/26/2013 5:15 PM
NewsAddison Reed earned his 17th save of the season Sunday as the White Sox defeated the Marlins 5-3.
ImpactIt was the first sweep of the year for the Pale Hose, who racked up five runs on eight hits and got a decent performance out of starter Dylan Axelrod. Reed closed it out with a perfect ninth inning and is now 17-for-18 on the season with a 1.96 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 26/8 K/BB ratio in 23 innings. He's been a top-tier fantasy closer.
Reed notches save No. 16 in win over Red Sox | 05/22/2013 12:13 AM
NewsAddison Reed picked up his 16th save on Tuesday in the White Sox' victory over the Red Sox.
ImpactReed's 16 saves now rank behind only Jason Grilli and Mariano Rivera for the league lead, and he's blown just one opportunity on the year. The right-hander owns a 2.14 ERA and 1.05 WHIP, having struck out 24 batters in 21 innings. And after serving up six home runs last season, he's yet to be taken deep thus far. It's shaping up to be a big year for the young righty.
Reed notches 13th save against the Angels | 05/17/2013 1:47 AM
NewsAddison Reed twirled a perfect ninth inning against the Angels Thursday for his 13th save.
ImpactNow 13-for-14 in save conversions, Reed is sitting pretty with a 2.50 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 22/8 K/BB rate over 18 innings. The 24-year-old is a top-tier fantasy closer.
Reed closes out 12th save as Sox top Twins | 05/15/2013 1:00 AM
NewsAddison Reed worked a scoreless ninth inning against the Twins for his 12th save of the season on Tuesday.
ImpactReed allowed a single but limited any further damage, picking up his 12th save in 13 chances. The right-hander was shaky in his last outing, a non-save situation against the Mets on May 8, so it was nice to see him work a relatively quiet ninth to preserve the win Tuesday. The 24-year-old is a solid relief option in fantasy leagues.
Reed locks up ninth save against Rangers | 05/01/2013 11:32 PM
NewsAddison Reed recorded his ninth save of the season Wednesday, working a scoreless ninth inning as the White Sox downed the Rangers.
ImpactIt wasn't without some drama, as Reed hit A.J. Pierzynski and allowed a single to Ian Kinsler with two outs. He bore down, though, and got Elvis Andrus swinging to end the threat and the game. It hasn't always been pretty, but Reed is a perfect 9-for-9 in save chances and is striking out over a batter per inning. That's plenty good enough for fantasy owners.
Reed notches eighth save of season | 04/26/2013 11:14 PM
NewsAddison Reed survived a shaky ninth inning for his eighth save Friday against the Rays.
ImpactIt wasn't easy, as Reed gave up two hits and a walk and had the tying run on second base. However, he was able to strike out Ben Zobrist swinging to end it. The 24-year-old has a 1.64 ERA and 12/4 K/BB ratio across 11 innings this season and has the potential to emerge as one of the game's top closers.
Addison Reed nails down another one | 04/14/2013 4:27 PM
NewsAddison Reed converted his fourth save with a scoreless inning in Sunday's win over the Indians.
ImpactReed allowed a two-out walk to Carlos Santana but then got Jason Giambi to fly out to preserve the two-run victory. The hard-thrower is now 4-for-4 in save chances this season and has given up just one hit and no runs while striking out six over six frames.
Addison Reed stellar so far | 04/12/2013 12:50 PM
NewsAddison Reed is 3-for-3 in save chances and picked up a win in his other appearance this season.
ImpactThe hard-thrower has permitted just one hit and has struck out four over four innings. Reed went through his ups and downs last season, winding up with a 4.75 ERA, but he has the upside to be one of the top closers in the American League.
Reed gives up two-run homer in loss | 02/28/2013 6:33 PM
NewsAddison Reed gave up a two-run homer Thursday in a loss to the Brewers.
ImpactJosh Prince took Reed yard in the seventh, which ended up being the difference in the ballgame. Reed posted a 4.75 ERA as Chicago's closer last season, but his 54/18 K/BB ratio over 55 innings indicates that his best days are likely ahead of him. He could be a top-10 closer in fantasy leagues before the year is out.
Hahn endorses Reed as Chicago's closer | 02/12/2013 3:47 PM
NewsWhite Sox general manager Rick Hahn endorsed Addison Reed as the team's closer on Tuesday, but also left the door open for other relievers to emerge.
Mark Gonzales on Twitter
ImpactReed was shaky at times after taking over the closer role last May, ultimately finishing with a 4.75 ERA, but his secondary numbers were very solid. Assuming the White Sox stick with him at closer, this could be a good year to get him at a discount in fantasy leagues.
