NewsDodgers closer Kenley Jansen saved his 41st game of the season on Saturday, nailing down a 5-2 victory over the Diamondbacks on Saturday.
ImpactHis 41 saves ranks him fifth in the majors. Jansen's ERA is a tad high for a closer at 3.09, but he has a 1.17 WHIP and 90 strikeouts versus 16 walks this year.
Jansen slams door on Cards in ninth inning | 07/20/2014 11:58 PM
NewsKenley Jansen slammed the door on the Cardinals in the ninth inning on Sunday, retiring all three hitters he faced to preserve a one-run victory.
ImpactJansen recorded his 28th save of the season for his troubles. The hard-throwing right-hander now owns a 3.40 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 63/12 K/BB ratio 39 2/3 innings on the season. He remains one of the most dominant closers in the National League.
Jansen escapes trouble to earn save vs. Pads | 07/13/2014 11:08 PM
NewsKenley Jansen worked out of a two-on, one-out jam in the ninth inning to earn the save against the Padres on Sunday.
ImpactA walk and a single put runners on the corners with one out, but Jansen recovered to strike out Jake Goebbert and Seth Smith to end the threat. Jansen goes into the break with a 3.49 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 62/12 K/BB ratio over 38 2/3 innings. He's third in the National League with 27 saves, and he'll continue to be one of the game's best closers in the second half.
Jansen works a perfect ninth for save no. 26 | 07/03/2014 11:17 PM
NewsKenley Jansen worked a perfect ninth inning, earning his 26th save in Thursday's win over the Rockies.
ImpactJuan Uribe broke a 2-2 tie in the previous half-inning, allowing the Dodgers to get Jansen into the game. It was his first appearance since June 30, but wasn't rusty in a 1-2-3 inning. Jansen is 26-for-29 in save opportunities with a 3.79 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP, and a 57/11 K/BB ratio in 35 2/3 innings.
RP Jansen turns out the lights vs. Reds | 07/01/2014 12:55 AM
NewsKenley Jansen pitched a scoreless ninth inning against the Indians on Monday for his 25th save of the season.
ImpactThe 6-foot-5, 265-pound fireballer ended things quickly with a 1-2-3 inning that featured no strikeouts, a rare occurrence indeed. He has collected five consecutive shutout appearances, earning a save each tine. That dominant stretch has put his ERA on a 4.55-to-3.89 diet. Jansen is now 25-for-28 in save chances to go with a 1.30 WHIP and 56/11 K/BB rate over 34-plus innings.
RP Jansen turns out the lights vs. Cardinals | 06/27/2014 12:58 AM
NewsKenley Jansen tossed a scoreless ninth inning against the Cardinals on Thursday for his 24rd save of the season.
ImpactHe allowed a single and struck out a batter. Jansen coughed up five runs over four appearances between June 13-20, but he's put the pieces back together during four consecutive scoreless performances. The ace reliever is 24-for-27 in save chances with a 4.01 ERA and 1.34 WHIP.
Kenley Jansen closes out Royals for 23rd save | 06/24/2014 11:21 PM
NewsKenley Jansen pitched a scoreless ninth inning against the Royals on Tuesday for his 23rd save of the season.
ImpactJansen fanned two and didn't allow a baserunner in the frame. His 4.13 ERA is inflated by a few meltdowns, but Jansen has a 55/11 K/BB ratio over 32 2/3 innings and remains one of the game's elite closers.
Jansen strikes out the side to earn 22nd save | 06/22/2014 10:32 PM
NewsKenley Jansen struck out all three batters he faced in a perfect ninth inning to earn the save against the Padres on Sunday.
ImpactIn his third straight day of work, Jansen once again showed no lingering effects of Friday's disaster. The right-hander struck out the side on 13 pitches, registering his 22nd save of the year. That's tied with Trevor Rosenthal for second-most in the NL and three behind Francisco Rodriguez for the National League lead.
Kenley Jansen notches 21st save | 06/22/2014 1:25 AM
NewsKenley Jansen bounced back from Friday's blown save to pitch a scoreless ninth for a save Saturday against the Padres.
ImpactJansen's velocity, which has fluctuated, was better tonight as he retired three of the four batters he faced in the ninth. The save was his 21st in 23 chances.
Kenley Jansen gives up three runs in loss | 06/21/2014 1:34 AM
NewsKenley Jansen gave up three runs in the ninth Friday against the Padres to take his first blown save since April 15.
ImpactJansen had converted 16 straight save chances since blowing two of his first six. He still hasn't flashed 2013 form at any point during the season, but this is just the second time this year he's given up more than one run in an appearance.
RP Jansen turns out the lights vs. Rockies | 06/18/2014 2:15 AM
NewsKenley Jansen allowed two hits but no runs and escaped the ninth inning with his 20th save in Tuesday's win over the Rockies.
ImpactTasked with protecting a 4-2 lead, Jansen made things interesting, putting the tying run aboard quickly by giving up a pair of singles to start the inning. But he buckled down when he had to, getting Justin Morneau to pop out before striking out both Kyle Parker and Wilin Rosario. Jansen has failed to punch out a batter in just two outings this year, and one of those was a one-out appearance.
Kenley Jansen records 19th save | 06/15/2014 12:59 AM
NewsKenley Jansen picked up his 19th save despite giving up a homer in the ninth Saturday against the Diamondbacks.
ImpactThe homer came on his second pitch to Martin Prado and was a cutter that didn't cut. On his very next pitch, he gave up a scorching liner to David Peralta that was caught by Adrian Gonzalez. Even light-hitting Tony Campana hit one relatively hard -- well, very hard for him -- delivering a looping liner right at Hanley Ramirez. Jansen only looked good in striking out Chris Owings to end the game, with his cutter reaching 94 mph in the at-bat. Considering that he's pitched back-to-back days now -- and was quite shaky tonight -- he should be given Sunday off.
Jansen notches 14th save of season | 05/23/2014 11:24 PM
NewsKenley Jansen delivered a scoreless ninth inning Friday against the Phillies for his 14th save of the season.
ImpactJansen recorded one strikeout and sat the Phillies down in order. Jansen has had some hiccups along the way this season, resulting in a 4.15 ERA in 25 appearances, but he has 35 strikeouts in 21 1/3 innings and is tied for third in the NL with 14 saves.
Jansen gets out of a jam to pick up 13th save | 05/21/2014 10:27 PM
NewsKenley Jansen allowed a run but escaped the ninth inning with his 13th save in Wednesday's win over the Mets.
ImpactJansen allowed a one-out triple to Juan Lagares, who later scored on an RBI ground out by Daniel Murphy. Jansen struck out David Wright to end the frame to escape with the one-run victory. The flamethrowing right-hander has been hittable this season, as he now carries a 4.35 ERA and 1.50 WHIP, but has struck out 34 batters in 20 2/3 innings.
Jansen sets down Fish in order to earn save | 05/13/2014 2:20 AM
NewsKenley Jansen notched his 12th save of the season by hurling a 1-2-3 ninth inning as the Dodgers defeated the Marlins 6-5 on Monday.
ImpactNice to see after Sunday's implosion against the Giants in which Jansen surrendered three runs on three hits and two walks and secured only one out. Jansen has been shakier than usual so far, watching an increased walk rate and more hits lead, as they always do, to more runs. He's allowed a .786 opponent's OPS in 2014; his career high is the .509 mark he gave up last year. Jansen, 12-for-14 in save conversions, owns a 4.34 ERA and 1.61 WHIP.
Jansen escapes with 11th save in win vs. MIN | 05/02/2014 12:44 AM
NewsKenley Jansen converted his 11th save of the season, allowing one run in an inning of work as the Dodgers defeated the Twins 4-3 in 12 innings on Thursday.
ImpactIt was not a pretty outing for Jansen, though he was dealing with an inconsistent strike zone. He reached 93 MPH only once and wound up loading the bases on a single and two walks with no outs. Joe Mauer knocked in one run with a sacrifice fly to left field, but Jansen was able to get Trevor Plouffe to fly out and Chris Colabello to line out to first base to seal the victory. Jansen has pitched on back-to-back days, but otherwise hadn't pitched since April 26, so his lower velocity should raise some eyebrows.
Kenley Jansen records ninth save | 04/27/2014 1:08 AM
NewsThanks to Yasiel Puig and Brian Wilson, Kenley Jansen was put in position to pick up his ninth save with a scoreless inning Saturday against the Rockies.
ImpactThere wouldn't have been a save situation for Jansen, except Wilson walked the only two batters he faced with a 7-3 lead in the ninth to create one. And the lead was only four runs entering the ninth because Puig tagged up from second and was thrown out at third for the third out of the eighth, getting tagged barely before Dee Gordon scored what would have been the Dodgers' eighth run. Jansen struck out two in his inning and is now 9-for-11 saving games this season.
Jansen shuts down Phillies to earn 8th save | 04/24/2014 1:19 AM
NewsKenley Jansen struck out one over a perfect ninth inning to lock down his eighth save of the season in Wednesday's victory over the Phillies.
ImpactJansen tossed 17 pitches in a tie game (and eventual loss) on Tuesday night and turned around 24 hours later to finish off the Phillies with 14 offerings. Jansen, now 8-for-10 in save conversions to go with a 3.46 ERA and 1.54 WHIP, has dialed up four straight scoreless appearances. He's appeared in five games over the past week, so Brian Wilson might be called upon if the Dodgers manufacture a save opportunity on Thursday.
Jansen locks down seventh save vs. D'backs | 04/20/2014 8:30 PM
NewsKenley Jansen earned his league-leading seventh save of the season in Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks.
ImpactJansen did it in style, striking out the side to close out the 4-1 win. The right-hander has blown two saves as well, but he's got a 21/5 K/BB ratio over 11 innings this year and should again be among the league leaders in saves this season.
Kenley Jansen allows run but converts save | 04/17/2014 7:59 PM
NewsKenley Jansen allowed a run but still converted his fifth save of the season in Thursday's win over the Giants.
ImpactIn fairness, Jansen probably wouldn't have given up a run had Michael Morse not reached to lead off the inning following a strikeout. Still, it certainly wasn't a clean outing, as Jansen walked one, yielded an RBI single and needed 30 pitches to complete the inning. He's nailed down five saves already but has blown a pair and holds a 5.00 ERA and 2.00 WHIP.
Jansen blows 2nd save in Dodgers' loss | 04/16/2014 3:20 AM
NewsKenley Jansen blew his second save of the season by coughing up Brandon Belt's RBI ninth inning double on Tuesday in a 3-2, 12-inning loss against the Giants.
ImpactBelt's slice down the left field line scored Angel Pagan from first. Jansen has allowed four runs over 7 1/3 innings (4.91 ERA) in the early going, and he's allowing way too many baserunners with a 2.05 WHIP, but his struggles won't continue. The fireballer owns a 14/3 K/BB rate and has whiffed at least one batter in all 10 of his appearances.
Jansen shuts down D'backs to earn fourth save | 04/13/2014 9:10 PM
NewsKenley Jansen pitched a scoreless ninth inning, striking out two, to earn his fourth save Sunday.
ImpactJansen shut down the Diamondbacks, fanning two in the perfect frame. He allowed runs in two consecutive outings earlier in the week, but he owns a 13/3 K/BB ratio over seven innings and remains one of the higher-end closers in the game despite the minor hiccup.
Jansen picks up third save in Dodgers' win | 04/13/2014 12:09 AM
NewsKenley Jansen picked up a one-out save in the Dodgers' defeat of the Diamondbacks on Saturday.
ImpactBrandon League was threatening to blow the Dodgers' big lead in the bottom of the ninth inning, so Jansen was brought in to finish the job. He struck out Gerardo Parra on four pitches -- all of which were over 98 mph. Jansen now has three saves on the season.
Jansen struggles in notching second save | 04/01/2014 10:21 PM
NewsKenley Jansen loaded the bases before recording the final out for his second save in the Dodgers' win over the Padres on Tuesday.
ImpactJansen made it interesting, as he allowed two singles and a walk before fanning pinch hitter Nick Hundley to end the game. It hasn't been a great start to the year for the right-hander, but he's got two saves in two opportunities to show for it.
Jansen notches save in season opener | 03/22/2014 7:55 AM
NewsKenley Jansen notched a save in the 2014 season opener in Australia on Saturday against the Diamondbacks.
ImpactJansen struck out Mark Trumbo swinging and got Miguel Montero to ground out to shortstop before walking Chris Owings. However, he was able to retire Gerardo Parra on a comebacker to end it. Jansen had a 1.88 ERA, 28 saves, and a 111/18 K/BB ratio over 76 2/3 innings last season and should find himself among the top fantasy closers again this year.
Jansen logs two strikeouts vs. Mariners | 03/04/2014 5:15 PM
NewsKenley Jansen struck out two Mariners in his only inning of work on Tuesday.
ImpactJansen had a fantastic 2013 season for the Dodgers and will return as their closer. As his outing Tuesday afternoon illustrates, he racks up the strikeouts in bunches. The 25-year-old should continue to be among the best closers in baseball.
Dodgers, Jansen avoid arb. with 1-year deal | 02/11/2014 3:23 PM
NewsDodgers and RHP Kenley Jansen avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $4.3 million contract.
Jon Heyman on Twitter
ImpactJansen requested $5.05 million and was offered $3.5 million from the Dodgers when arbitration figures were exchanged last month, so the two sides settled just above the midpoint. The 26-year-old was arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter.
Dodgers, Jansen exchange arbitration figures | 01/17/2014 8:01 PM
NewsKenley Jansen requested $5.05 million and was offered $3.5 million from the Dodgers when arbitration figures were exchanged on Friday.
Jon Heyman on Twitter
ImpactThe final total is likely to be somewhere in the middle, around $4.25 million. The 26-year-old flame-thrower has developed into one of the most dominating closers in the game and will lead an extremely strong and revamped Dodger bullpen in 2014. He should be one of the first five closers off the board in every fantasy draft.
Jansen earns 28th save, Dodgers top Giants | 09/25/2013 1:37 AM
NewsKenley Jansen secured his 28th save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning on Tuesday against the Giants.
ImpactJansen surrendered a single and struck out two batters, requiring 23 pitches to escape the inning. He's struck out seven batters in his last three innings. The flame-throwing right-hander is 28-for-32 in save conversions with a 1.90 ERA and 109 strikeouts in 75 2/3 innings.
Kenley Jansen slams door on Padres Sunday | 09/22/2013 7:03 PM
NewsKenley Jansen slammed the door on the Padres in dominating fashion on Sunday, striking out all three hitters he faced to preserve a one-run lead.
ImpactThe flame-throwing right-hander needed just 11 pitches to punch the heart of the Padres order in impressive fashion. He now sports a 1.93 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 107/16 K/BB ratio through 74 2/3 innings on the season, while converting 27 of his 31 save chances. He remains one of the truly elite closer options in fantasy leagues.
Kenley Jansen converts 26th save | 09/19/2013 7:31 PM
NewsKenley Jansen nailed down his 26th save of the season with a perfect ninth inning in Thursday's win over the Diamondbacks.
ImpactLike most of Jansen's saves, it was painless, as he got a pair of strikeouts and then a flyout to end it. Jansen has converted 26-of-30 save opportunities on the year and holds a 1.95 ERA with a ridiculous 104/16 K/BB ratio across 73 2/3 frames.
Kenley Jansen closes out Padres for 24th save | 09/01/2013 9:29 PM
NewsKenley Jansen picked up his 24th save in Sunday's win over the Padres.
ImpactHe needed only 14 pitches and finished with two strikeouts. Jansen is 24-of-27 in save opportunities this season and has a 1.86 ERA and a 0.78 WHIP over 67 2/3 innings.
Jansen K's 2 in perfect inning, earns save | 08/24/2013 12:40 AM
NewsKenley Jansen struck out two in a perfect ninth inning to earn his 22nd save on Friday against the Red Sox.
ImpactJansen is the closest thing to "lights out" that we have in the majors right now. The right-hander has only allowed one run in 10 1/3 innings over 10 August appearances. He boasts a 1.95 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and an insane 92/11 K/BB ratio.
Jansen earns 19th save despite giving up run | 08/14/2013 1:33 AM
NewsKenley Jansen allowed a run but escaped with his 19th save Tuesday against the Mets.
ImpactTasked with protecting a two-run lead, Jansen allowed a two-out RBI single to John Buck. The run wouldn't have occurred under normal circumstances; Los Angeles allowed Josh Satin, who walked earlier in the inning, to take second base on defensive indifference. Jansen induced an Ike Davis grounder to second to end the game. Prior to this evening, Jansen hadn't allowed a run over his last 10 appearances, dating back to July 24.
Jansen punches out three, earns 18th save | 08/13/2013 1:44 AM
NewsKenley Jansen struck out three over 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn his 18th save on Monday against the Mets.
ImpactJansen retired 27 straight batters before giving up a single in his last appearance Thursday against the Cardinals. Jansen dispatched all four Mets he faced, which leaves his current streak of retired batters at five. For the record, David Freese (via single) is the only batter to reach against Jansen since July 23. The right-hander possesses a 1.96 ERA and 0.82 WHIP through 58 appearances.
Kenley Jansen records 27 straight outs | 08/08/2013 11:45 PM
NewsKenley Jansen reached 27 straight batters retired before giving up a single Thursday against the Cardinals.
ImpactJansen's "perfect game" came over the course of 10 appearances, but it's still pretty neat. When David Freese singled with two outs in the ninth, he became Jansen's first baserunner since July 23. Jansen then retired Jon Jay on a little grounder back to the mound to end the 5-1 victory.
Jansen gets 16th save as Dodgers beat Cubs | 08/03/2013 7:47 PM
NewsKenley Jansen earned his 16th save of the season Saturday in the Dodgers' 3-0 blanking of the Cubs.
ImpactJansen fanned two of the three batters he faced in a perfect ninth frame. The hard-throwing right-hander should remain a top-tier fantasy closer down the stretch on this seemingly-unbeatable Dodgers team.
Jansen punches out two in scoreless ninth | 07/31/2013 1:31 AM
NewsKenley Jansen punched out two in tossing a scoreless ninth to earn his fourth win Tuesday against the Yankees.
ImpactJansen's perfect inning preserved a 2-2 tie in the top of the ninth and Mark Ellis singled in Andre Ethier to send Los Angeles to victory in the bottom half of the frame. Jansen is 16-for-19 in save conversions and boasts a 2.15 ERA and 0.88 WHIP.
Kenley Jansen slams door on Nationals | 07/19/2013 10:21 PM
NewsKenley Jansen slammed the door on the Nationals with a perfect ninth inning on Friday, preserving a one-run advantage and locking up his 10th save of the season.
ImpactJansen was simply overpowering, and fanned two of the three hitters that he faced. The dominating closer now owns a 2.28 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 67/8 K/BB ratio over 47 1/3 innings on the season. He's a truly elite fantasy closer.
Jansen ranks 4th amongst closers w/ 12.51 K/9 | 07/12/2013 9:46 PM
NewsKenley Jansen ranks fourth amongst closers in K/9 rate with 12.51.
ImpactHe trails Aroldis Chapman, Jason Grilli and Craig Kimbrel. Jansen has been dynamite this season, particularly at Dodgers Stadium, where he's posted a 1.40 ERA and 38/4 K/BB rate. Jansen's relative difficulties on the road are due to the four homers he's surrendered on enemy terrain. Jansen (2.38 ERA, nine saves) has the potential of an elite fantasy closer.
Kenley Jansen records sixth save | 06/27/2013 1:21 AM
NewsKenley Jansen took over for Clayton Kershaw in the ninth and retired three of the four batters he faced for a save against the Giants on Wednesday.
ImpactAfter giving up a single to put two on with none out, Jansen struck out Hunter Pence and Pablo Sandoval and got Brandon Belt to fly out. It'll be interesting to see if the Dodgers are willing to use him again tomorrow now that he's worked four of the last five days.
Jansen earns fourth save of the year Monday | 06/25/2013 2:39 AM
NewsKenley Jansen struck out the side and earned his fifth save of the year Monday against the Giants.
ImpactJansen, recently tabbed as the Dodgers' closer, has struck out at least one batter in every one of his June appearances. He's allowed just one run over his last 15 2/3 innings. One of the league's premier relief arms, Jansen owns a 2.37 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and retina-exploding 56/6 K/BB ratio over 38 innings.
Jansen earns fourth save | 06/23/2013 11:14 PM
NewsKenley Jansen picked up his fourth save Sunday against the Padres.
ImpactJansen threw a scoreless ninth inning to earn his first save since June 11. He's now allowed just one run over his last 14 2/3 innings and has a 2.43 ERA.
Jansen blows save but Dodgers win in extras | 06/15/2013 8:05 PM
NewsKenley Jansen blew his second save of the season on Saturday evening against the Pirates.
ImpactJansen entered the game with the Dodgers up 3-2 and promptly ruined that lead in ugly fashion. Brandon League then came on in the bottom of the 11th to secure his 14th save and the Dodgers' 29th win. Jansen is the most talented pitcher in the Los Angeles bullpen and remains the team's closer, but League could certainly win the job back if the rough outings for Jansen begin multiplying.
Kenley Jansen notches third save | 06/12/2013 1:35 AM
NewsKenley Jansen protected a two-run lead in the ninth for his third save against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
ImpactJansen will certainly be fine in the ninth. The question is how the Dodgers will fare in the eighth now that they no longer have them there. Tonight, they used J.P. Howell and Matt Guerrier in a 2-2 game and gave up the go-ahead run, only to come back with three in the bottom of the eighth to take a 5-3 lead. Jansen struck out two in his inning tonight and has pitched 10 2/3 scoreless innings in his last 10 appearances.
Kenley Jansen takes over as Dodgers' closer | 06/11/2013 7:17 PM
NewsDodgers manager Don Mattingly has named Kenley Jansen his new closer.
Ken Gurnick on Twitter
ImpactIt was bound to happen. Mattingly stuck with Brandon League as long as he could, but with a 6.00 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and four blown saves, League just wasn't getting the job done. Boasting a 2.53 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 44/6 K/BB ratio over 32 innings this season, Jansen certainly has the ability to be an elite fantasy closer.
Jansen takes loss after allowing late runs | 05/18/2013 10:06 PM
NewsKenley Jansen took the loss after allowing two runs in the eighth inning Saturday against the Braves.
ImpactChris Capuano was spinning a gem, but he got pulled after allowing a one-out single in the bottom of the eighth and Jansen promptly surrendered a go-ahead two-run shot to Evan Gattis. Jansen then yielded a solo shot to Braves shortstop Andrelton Simmons. Brandon League is the primary closer in Los Angeles until further notice.
Mattingly is not naming Jansen his closer yet | 05/15/2013 7:14 PM
NewsDodgers manager Don Mattingly would not name Kenley Jansen his closer when asked after Tuesday's game.
ImpactMattingly said on Monday that Brandon League was still his closer, but it was Jansen, not League, that closed out the 2-0 win over the Nationals Tuesday by striking out the last batter. League never even warmed up. "In that game, I had to go with the guy who's throwing the ball best; as much as anything he's been throwing the ball better than anybody," Mattingly said of Jansen. It's possible League will get the next save opportunity, but it's clear Jansen is the guy Mattingly trusts more. He should officially have the job before long.
Kenley Jansen earns save for Dodgers | 05/15/2013 12:48 AM
NewsKenley Jansen got one out in the ninth to earn his second save of the year Tuesday against the Nationals.
ImpactManager Don Mattingly said Brandon League was the closer Monday, but he made it clear tonight that Jansen is the guy he has faith in. It was Jansen who warming up in both the eighth and ninth innings with Clayton Kershaw fatiguing, and when Jansen got the call with two outs in the ninth, he fanned Tyler Moore on four pitches. Whether this means it's now Jansen's job is up for debate. One thing is for sure: he should be owned in all formats.
Kenley Jansen takes loss in relief | 05/09/2013 12:52 AM
NewsKenley Jansen took the loss for the Dodgers on Wednesday after giving up a solo homer to Paul Goldschmidt in the eighth.
ImpactBad timing for Jansen, what with Brandon League likely one blown save away from coughing up the closer's gig. Of course, what had gotten League into trouble was allowing homers in tie games twice. That's what Jansen did tonight.
Kenley Jansen goes two scoreless | 05/01/2013 1:41 AM
NewsKenley Jansen pitched scoreless eighth and ninth innings to finish out the Dodgers' win on Tuesday.
ImpactJansen hadn't worked in five days, hence the rare two-inning stint. Now an elite setup man rather than a quality closer, he's allowed just two runs and struck out 15 in 14 innings to date.
Jansen notches save in win over Padres | 04/12/2013 2:34 AM
NewsWith Brandon League unavailable, Kenley Jansen notched the save in Thursday's win over the Padres.
ImpactLeague threw 34 pitches to finish off a shaky save on Wednesday night, so Jansen got the call on Thursday. The hard-throwing right-hander delivered a perfect frame and has yet to allow a run in his first 4 2/3 innings of work this season. He'd be the obvious alternative for the closer role if League has a prolonged struggle, so it's a good idea to keep him stashed away in most leagues.
