Alejandro De Aza in 2-for-28 slump | 05/21/2014 10:59 PM
NewsAlejandro De Aza went 0-for-3 on Wednesday and is in a 2-for-28 slump.
ImpactDe Aza homered twice on Opening Day and three times in opening series against the Twins, but he has just one homer since, that coming back on April 28. He's struggled to hit for average all along, and he's currently at .179 for the season. The White Sox don't have much in the way of outfield alternatives, so they'll keep running him out there against righties for now. He should snap out of it at some point.
Alejandro De Aza finally hits another homer | 04/29/2014 12:00 AM
NewsAlejandro De Aza hit his fourth homer of the year Monday in the win over the Rays.
ImpactIt was his fourth homer of the year, but his first in 25 days; the previous three all came in the season-opening series against the Twins. De Aza has struggled mightily since those first few days, and if not for Avisail Garcia's injury, he'd probably find himself on the bench most of the time right now. As is, he'll continue to start in left field against most righties.
De Aza held hitless again, but White Sox win | 04/15/2014 11:53 PM
NewsAlejandro De Aza went 0-for-3 with a walk as the White Sox defeated the Red Sox on Tuesday.
ImpactDe Aza walked and was caught stealing leading off the bottom of the ninth inning, but the White Sox walked off winners anyway. After a white-hot spring, De Aza has been cold to start the season, hitting just .167 with the conclusion of Tuesday's action. The caught stealing was only his first attempted steal of the season, after swiping 20 bags last year.
Aledjandro De Aza hits third home run | 04/03/2014 6:10 PM
NewsAlejandro De Aza popped his third homer in three games Thursday against the Twins.
ImpactThe White Sox thought they were picking De Aza's on-base percentage and defense over Dayan Viciedo's power in left field to start the season. Imagine their surprise that De Aza has three homers already. He'll start against right-handers for the foreseeable future.
De Aza homers twice in win over Twins | 03/31/2014 7:39 PM
NewsAlejandro De Aza clubbed a pair of home runs in a 5-3 win over the Twins on Opening Day.
ImpactDe Aza smacked a two-run shot in the second inning and later added a solo homer in the sixth. This was the first multi-homer game of his career. De Aza is set to share playing time with Dayan Viciedo in left field, but a shot start could give him the edge. The good news is that he should get more playing time than Viciedo even if the White Sox go with a straight platoon.
De Aza doubles, homers against the Cubs | 03/27/2014 5:38 PM
NewsAlejandro De Aza doubled and homered in his only two at-bats as the White Sox fell to the Cubs 4-3 on Thursday.
ImpactDe Aza went back-to-back with Adam Dunn in the ninth inning against Wesley Wright, a last-ditch effort to bring the White Sox back into the game. The blast was De Aza's second of the spring and he is now hitting .383. He has certainly played his way into consideration for more playing time, and may take some away from Dayan Viciedo in left field.
De Aza has two hits as ChiSox tie Rockies | 03/24/2014 12:05 AM
NewsAlejandro De Aza had another nice day at the plate on Sunday, going 2-for-4 with a run scored as the White Sox and Rockies played to a 5-5 draw.
ImpactDe Aza continues to battle Dayan Viciedo for the team's starting job in left field, and has stated his case strongly by slashing .410/.425/.564 in Cactus League play. If he does receive everyday at-bats, his combination of power and speed give him plenty of mixed league value.
De Aza hits first spring homer versus Giants | 03/22/2014 8:25 PM
NewsAlejandro De Aza went 2-for-3 with his first home run of the spring against the Giants on Saturday.
ImpactDe Aza's two-hit day raised his spring average to .400. The 29-year-old is in a fight for his life with Dayan Viciedo for a starting spot in the White Sox outfield. If the team opts to go in another direction, De Aza will likely draw interest on the trade market.
De Aza scores two runs against the Giants | 03/12/2014 6:21 PM
NewsAlejandro De Aza went 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored on Wednesday against the Giants.

NewsAlejandro De Aza went 2-for-3 against the Brewers on Monday.
ImpactBoth hits were singles. Recent reports have indicated that the Twins are interested in De Aza, who is currently hitting .412 in the Cactus League. As the season progresses, De Aza should draw interest elsewhere as well, and could be a useful trade chip for the White Sox leading up to the July 31 trade deadline.

John Shea on Twitter
ImpactThe White Sox are expected to trade De Aza with Adam Eaton now in the fold. He's projected by MLBTradeRumors.com to make $4.4 million in his second year of arbitration this winter, which isn't too much. He would be used in left field, pushing Gregor Blanco to a backup role.

NewsCBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the White Sox will be fielding trade inquiries on Alejandro De Aza following the acquisition of Adam Eaton.
Jon Heyman on Twitter
ImpactEaton will take over in center field, leaving De Aza without a position. De Aza is projected by MLBTradeRumors.com to make $4.4 million in his second year of arbitration this winter. It's not a bad price to pay for a guy that's batted .278/.343/.421 with 30 homers and 58 steals over his last two and a half seasons.
Alejandro De Aza hits go-ahead homer for Sox | 09/24/2013 10:59 PM
NewsAlejandro De Aza singled and belted a go-ahead homer in the ninth inning of Tuesday's loss to the Indians.
ImpactDayan Viciedo's longball off of Chris Perez to lead off the ninth tied things up, and De Aza'a two-out blast gave them a brief lead that they coughed up in the bottom of the frame. De Aza has an outside shot at a 20/20 season with his 17 homers and 20 steals.
Alejandro De Aza hits 16th homer | 09/18/2013 5:14 PM
NewsAlejandro De Aza hit his 16th homer Wednesday in the loss to the Twins.
ImpactDe Aza's OBP (currently .321) has been a bit of a disappointment, but he has helped make up for it with the extra pop. He has more homers in 578 at-bats this year than he did in 870 career at-bats (13) entering the season. Oddly enough, just four of his 16 homers have come at home.
Alejandro De Aza not in Saturday's lineup | 09/07/2013 9:48 AM
NewsAlejandro De Aza is not in the White Sox starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the Orioles.
Daryl Van Schouwen on Twitter
ImpactIt's just a routine day of rest for De Aza against O's left-hander Wei-Yin Chen. De Aza has been a valuable source of power and speed in fantasy leagues this season, hitting .267/.324/.412 with 15 homers, 56 RBI and 19 stolen bases. Leury Garcia will get the start in center field in his place.

ImpactDe Aza has a modest six-game hitting streak going. His double in the seventh inning drove in his 46th run of the season, not bad for a leadoff hitter. The 29-year-old is hitting .275/.331/.429 this year.

Alejandro De Aza goes hitless in loss | 05/27/2013 9:58 PM
NewsWhite Sox leadoff man Alejandro De Aza went 0-for-4 in Monday's loss to the Cubs.
ImpactIt's nice that De Aza already has seven homers, but he also possesses a .285 OBP, making him a pretty lousy leadoff man thus far. The White Sox are happy with his defense, so they're certainly not going to pull him from the lineup, and they don't really have anyone else suited for batting first. As a result, little is likely to change for De Aza.
Alejandro De Aza belts seventh homer in loss | 05/10/2013 11:50 PM

The 29-year-old outfielder is proving that his breakout 2012 campaign was no fluke, and he's developing into an impact fantasy contributor. While the power is very unlikely to continue at this pace, he's a solid bet to hit 15 homers and steal 20 bases with plenty of runs scored hitting atop the White Sox lineup.

NewsAlejandro De Aza went 3-for-5 with a home run as the White Sox beat the Mets on Wednesday.
ImpactDe Aza led off the game with his sixth home run of the season and later recorded his fifth stolen base as well. The outfielder is a good bet to reach mid-double digits in both by season's end, and he should score plenty of runs atop the lineup as well. He's a fringe starter in standard mixed leagues but should be owned in the majority.
De Aza connects for fifth home run in Sox win | 05/01/2013 11:23 PM
NewsAlejandro De Aza doubled and homered, driving in two runs against the Rangers on Wednesday.
ImpactThe home run was De Aza's fifth of the year after hitting just nine all of 2012. His primary weapon is his speed -- he's also stolen four bases this season -- so a power surge would be a welcome addition to his skillset. Batting leadoff, De Aza won't drive in a ton of runs, but he looks primed to contribute everywhere else this summer.

NewsAlejandro De Aza launched a solo homer in Sunday's win over the Indians.
ImpactIt was one of two longballs on the day for the White Sox, as Paul Konerko contributed a two-run shot. De Aza's blast came in the eighth inning off of nasty setup man Vinnie Pestano. The outfielder now has three dingers on the year to go along with a stolen bases and eight RBI.
