That being said, Kinsler could stand to be a bit more disruptive on the bases and to show more power, as he has only three stolen bases and a .425 slugging percentage through 129 plate appearances.

Ian Kinsler looking to up SB total in 2014 | 01/03/2014 10:26 AM
NewsIan Kinsler is looking to up his stolen base total in 2014 after swiping just 15 bags in 2013.
Detroit Free Press
ImpactIt was the first time over a full season that Kinsler failed to reach the 20-steal plateau, and he also was caught a career-high 11 times in 2013. He thinks it was "a little bit of a weird year for me running-wise as far as stolen bases are concerned," as Kinsler says a good chunk of the time he was thrown out on failed hit-and-runs. With his power likely to drop in the move from Texas to Detroit, Kinsler could use a rebound in his steals total to keep his fantasy value up.

The move sets off a domino effect, as Miguel Cabrera will almost certainly slide over to first base, prospect Nick Castellanos will likely get every chance to win the job at third base and the money saved will allow the Tigers to pursue a long-term deal with Max Scherzer.

NewsFOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal said the Rangers trading one of Ian Kinsler or Elvis Andrus is "starting to look inevitable."
ImpactRosenthal said a package involving Jurickson Profar is another option but "don't count on it." Rosenthal mentions the Yankees and Cardinals as two teams that could be in play for one of the Rangers' infielders.
Report: Texas ponders trading Kinsler, Andrus | 11/06/2013 1:09 PM
NewsThe Rangers are considering trading either second baseman Ian Kinsler or shortstop Elvis Andrus to clear a position for Jurickson Profar, according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal.
Impact"A move of Kinsler to first base also is possible but probably less appealing," Rosenthal wrote. Kinsler is guaranteed $57 million over the next four seasons, and his contract includes a $10 million club option or $5 million buyout in 2018. Andrus is owed $126-plus million over the next nine seasons, with a $15 million club option for a tenth season (in 2023). "The size of Andrus' contract seemingly would preclude a deal, even to a high-revenue team such as the Red Sox, who might look to add a shortstop," Rosenthal wrote.

NewsIan Kinsler was scratched from Friday's lineup due to bruised ribs.
ImpactIt's possible he hurt his ribs on his poorly-executed head-first slide on Thursday night. Consider him day-to-day for now. Leury Garcia will fill in at second base while Elvis Andrus bats leadoff.
Kinsler launches sixth home run in win | 05/04/2013 11:14 PM
NewsIan Kinsler hit his sixth home run of the season in Saturday's win over the Red Sox.
ImpactIt was Kinsler's only hit in five at-bats, and it came on the first pitch of the game. The Rangers would never look back. Kinsler is hitting .336 and now has 19 RBI, especially impressive considering he's hit leadoff the entire year. He's also stolen three bases this season.

NewsIan Kinsler went 2-for-5 with two RBI as the Rangers defeated the White Sox on Tuesday.
ImpactKinsler also scored two runs batting in the leadoff spot, and the second baseman is now hitting .317 on the year. Hitting atop the Rangers lineup, Kinsler should continue to contribute in all five categories -- in short, continue to be an elite fantasy option at the keystone.
Ian Kinsler homers again in loss | 04/18/2013 6:17 PM
NewsIan Kinsler singled and ripped a solo homer in Thursday's loss to the Cubs.
ImpactBoth Kinsler and Nelson Cruz took Carlos Villanueva deep, but those were the only two runs the Rangers could muster off of the Cubs in this one. Kinsler is off to a fantastic start, sporting a .309 average with five dingers and 10 RBI through 14 games. Only Michael Morse and Chris Davis have gone deep more than him in the AL thus far.

NewsIan Kinsler went 2-for-4 and homered to give the Rangers their only run Friday against the Mariners.
ImpactKinsler has racked up six multihit games and four homers already. He's not going to keep his average over .300 all year, but he should be an elite fantasy second baseman anyway.
Ian Kinsler has big day on Tuesday | 04/02/2013 11:09 PM
NewsIan Kinsler hit his first home run of the season and scored two runs in the Ranger 7-0 win over the Astros on Tuesday.
ImpactKinsler finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and a walk in the game. The 30-year-old second baseman had a relatively down year in 2012, batting .256 with 19 home runs. He's batting at the top of a Rangers order that still has some big bats, though, so while his RBI total may take a hit his stolen bases and runs scored should remain healthy.
Ian Kinsler has big night | 03/18/2013 11:36 PM
NewsIan Kinsler went 3-for-3 with a two-run homer Monday against the Royals.
ImpactKinsler entered the game with a .154 average over his first 46 spring plate appearances, so it's good to see him string together some hits. The 30-year-old will again be among the elite fantasy second basemen this season.

NewsIan Kinsler had an RBI double and scored a run in the Rangers' loss to the Royals Saturday.
ImpactKinsler went 1-for-2 before being lifted for Jurickson Profar in the fifth inning. The 30-year-old second baseman just missed a second-consecutive 20-20 season in 2012, finishing with 19 home runs and 21 stolen bases. He should be viewed among the elite options at second base on draft day.
Rangers to use Kinsler at 2B, Moreland at 1B | 01/07/2013 9:54 PM
NewsRangers general manager Jon Daniels said Monday that the plan is to use Ian Kinsler at second base and Mitch Moreland at first base.
Jeff Wilson on Twitter
Impact"It's better that way," Daniels said. The Rangers were considering the idea of moving Kinsler to first base and installing Jurickson Profar as the second baseman, but they've decided against it. That means that both Profar and Mike Olt are likely to begin the season in the minors following the signing of Lance Berkman.
