Marlins third baseman Casey McGehee is just 1-for-15 (.067) against Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright. | 08/12/2014 9:55 AM
NewsMarlins third baseman Casey McGehee is just 1-for-15 (.067) against Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright.
ImpactMiami's signing of McGehee (.302) has worked out well for the team and fantasy owners. With opponents avoiding Giancarlo Stanton in RBI situations, the result has been that McGehee has been in a great spot and has knocked in 60 runs despite hitting just three home runs. This matchup, however, is not favorable.

NewsMarlins third baseman Casey McGehee hit his third homer of the season Sunday against the Reds.

McGehee homers to help Marlins top Giants | 07/20/2014 4:05 PM
NewsCasey McGehee homered Sunday in the Marlins' 3-2 victory over the visiting Giants.
ImpactIt was a two-run shot to deep left-center field off Giants starter Tim Lincecum. McGehee is batting .322 with 56 RBI in 96 games this season, but Sunday's home run was only his second. Part of that is the park he calls home. Marlins GM Dan Jennings said earlier this month that McGehee will not be on the block at this year's July 31 trade deadline, so don't expect the power to improve all that much down the stretch.
Jennings: Marlins won't trade Casey McGehee | 07/08/2014 10:25 AM
NewsMarlins general manager Dan Jennings told Bob Nightengale of USA Today that the team will not trade Casey McGehee.
ImpactNot surprisingly, Jennings also confirmed that the Marlins have no plans to deal slugger Giancarlo Stanton, but it's a bit surprising that he has such a hard stance on McGehee. While the 31-year-old has put together a nice comeback season, he's not a long-term building block. Still, the Marlins don't appear interested in selling high.

NewsCasey McGehee went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI in Sunday's win over the Cardinals.
ImpactIt's been a renaissance year for the 31-year-old, and he capped off a terrific series with a two-hit day Sunday. McGehee was 7-for-13 in the series and has four multi-hit games in his last five, raising his average to .320. Even with a noticeable lack of power, McGehee has become a mixed league option in his return to MLB.

Casey McGehee reaches five times | 06/17/2014 12:55 AM
NewsCasey McGehee reached five of the six times he was up Monday, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and three walks.
ImpactYou've certainly heard about McGehee's impressive RBI numbers by now, but did you know he had a .373 OBP? He came in at .280 in 2011 and .284 in 2012 before leaving to play in Japan last year. He's a big reason the Marlins are currently a game over .500.
Casey McGehee drives in three more | 06/15/2014 5:01 PM
NewsCasey McGehee went 3-for-4 with three RBI in Sunday's win over the Pirates.
ImpactThe Marlins were trailing 2-0 in the eighth inning, but McGehee tied things up with a two-RBI double. He then sent everyone home with a walk-off sacrifice fly in the 10th. The power hasn't been there, as McGehee has hit just one homer and is slugging .389. However, the Marlins have to thrilled overall with his .309/.363/.389 batting line and 43 RBI.

ImpactMcGehee's three-hit night gives him 12 hits in his last 26 at-bats during his six-game hitting streak. The three singles raised his season line to .306/.363/.384, and his 39 RBI are ninth-most in the National League. Against all odds, The 31-year-old remains mixed-league relevant.

NewsCasey McGehee finally hit his first homer of the year Saturday in a losing cause against the Padres.

NewsCasey McGehee singled off the heel of Gonzalez Germen on a comeback in the bottom of the ninth Monday to plate the winning run as the Marlins beat the Mets 4-3.
ImpactMcGehee still doesn't have a homer in 123 at-bats this season, but he's batting .309 and he's driven in 21 runs. The Marlins will keep hitting him in the middle of the order as long as he keeps racking up RBI, but sustained mixed-league value probably isn't in the offing.
McGehee's pair of hits and RBI pace Marlins | 05/01/2014 10:32 PM
NewsCasey McGehee went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and an RBI single in Thursday's win over the Braves.
ImpactMcGehee has had a nice week, notching three multi-hit games in his last five games. His double in the first inning gave the Marlins an early 1-0 lead, and his single in the seventh inning was the eventual game-winning hit, putting the Marlins up 5-4. McGehee's star has fallen after breaking out with 23 home runs and 104 RBI with the Brewers in 2011. The power hasn't been there yet, but McGehee has used a high average (now .305) to emerge as a key contributor to the Marlins' offense.

NewsCasey McGehee went 3-for-4 with a walk and a double and two runs scored as the Marlins defeated the Braves on Wednesday.
ImpactMcGehee was an RBI machine for the Marlins early in the season, but has knocked in only one run since April 20. However, with Wednesday night's effort, he brought his average up to .297. He remains productive as a bargain-bin grab signed by the Marlins back in December.

NewsCasey McGehee drove in the only run in the Marlins' win over the Braves on Tuesday.

McGehee posts trio of hits against Nats' arms | 04/15/2014 10:12 PM
NewsCasey McGehee went 3-for-5 with two runs batted in as the Marlins beat the Nationals on Tuesday.
ImpactThe Marlins, McGehee included, were squaring up Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg and reliever Craig Stammen well. McGehee knocked in both of his runs with a single in the bottom of the second, and now has 13 RBI. McGehee hasn't been a reliable run producer since 2010 with the Brewers.
McGehee drives in three runs in Marlins' win | 04/03/2014 4:09 PM
NewsCasey McGehee had a big day at the dish in Thursday's win over the Rockies, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two walks, and a run scored.
ImpactMcGehee had a game-tying triple in the seventh inning and gave the Marlins some insurance with a two-run single one inning later. After spending 2013 in Japan, the 31-year-old is 6-for-13 (.462) with a league-leading eight RBI through four games this year. Serving as the starting third baseman for the Marlins, he could prove to be a nice value in NL-only leagues.
Casey McGehee knocks in four | 03/31/2014 10:47 PM
NewsCasey McGehee knocked in four runs with a pair of doubles versus the Rockies on Monday.
ImpactMcGehee got to his cleanup tonight against a lefty. Garrett Jones figures to occupy that spot against righties for now, but it's not like Jones should be guaranteed anything; there aren't any true No. 4 or 5 hitters in that Miami lineup.
Casey McGehee hits second spring homer | 03/25/2014 5:15 PM
NewsCasey McGehee hit his second spring homer in the Marlins' 6-5 win over the Cardinals on Tuesday.
ImpactMcGehee has picked it up some and is now hitting .245/.333/.377 in 53 at-bats for the spring. The Marlins will give him every chance to stick as their regular third baseman. He might keep the job, but we don't expect him to make much of an impact in fantasy leagues.
Casey McGehee hits first homer of spring | 03/08/2014 4:59 PM
NewsCasey McGehee hit his first homer of the spring and walked against the Braves on Saturday.
ImpactMcGehee is off to a 4-for-14 start in his bid to secure the third base job in Miami. As long as he's decent this spring, he should start on Opening Day.
Marlins sign McGehee away from Japan | 12/18/2013 3:53 PM
NewsMarlins signed 3B Casey McGehee to a one-year, $1.1 million contract.
ImpactThe deal includes incentives, which haven't yet been announced. McGehee had to move across the ocean after a few terrible major league seasons, but he pumped life back into a career being read its last rites by slashing .289/.371/.512 with 27 homers in Japan's Pacific League in 2013. For the Marlins, McGehee represents a no-risk, medium-reward transaction. He should slot into the last half of Miami's 2014 lineup and carries some NL-only intrigue.
Report: Marlins sign 3B McGehee to 1-yr deal | 12/18/2013 1:34 PM
NewsThe Marlins have signed free agent third baseman Casey McGehee to a one-year deal, according to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald.
Clark Spencer on Twitter
ImpactThe 31-year-old punished pitchers across the sea this past season, slashing 289/.371/.512 with 27 homers in Japan's Pacific League. McGehee, who was Masahiro Tanaka's teammate with the Rakuten Golden Eagles, will join a lineup in South Florida that includes Rafael Furcal, Christian Yelich, Giancarlo Stanton, Garrett Jones and Jarrod Saltalamacchia. NL-only owners should keep an eye on the former Brewer this spring.
Marlins looking at McGehee, Betemit | 12/14/2013 2:22 PM
NewsThe Marlins are looking at Casey McGehee and Wilson Betemit in their attempts to land a third baseman.
ImpactMcGegee, 31, is coming off a big year in Japan in which he hit .289/.371/.512 with 27 homers, but it sounds like he'd rather play in MLB if the money is similar. That probably means a team will have to offer him at least $2.5 million-$3 million. Betemit is the better bet of the two offensively, but defense is a big issue there, making him a less-than-ideal option.
Casey McGehee considering return to MLB | 10/02/2013 11:30 AM
NewsCasey McGehee is considering a return to MLB after playing in Japan in 2013.
ImpactMcGehee, 30, batted .289/.371/.512 with 27 home runs and 90 RBI over 137 games this season with the Rakuten Golden Eagles of Japan's Pacific League. He's hoping to parlay the big year into an opportunity with an MLB team, but he hasn't closed the door on returning to Japan. "It has been a great season in Japan and at the end of the season he will decide whether to continue in Japan or return here," said Barry Meister. McGehee hit just .217 with nine homers and a .643 OPS during his last stint in the majors in 2012.
