|Assets:||Has tremendous speed and the range to play center field. Hits left-handers very well and steals bases with aplomb. Is comfortable in the leadoff spot. Can also play an outfield corner.|
|Flaws:||His walk/strikeout ratio can prevent him from seeing regular at-bats and thriving as a leadoff man. Doesn't have much power to speak of, either. Lacks consistency.|

NewsTigers left fielder Rajai Davis went 3-for-5 with one RBI and one steal Wednesday against Arizona.

Davis has three-hit game in loss to Royals | 07/13/2014 6:07 PM
NewsRajai Davis went 3-for-3 with a run scored in Sunday's loss to the Royals.
ImpactDavis has enjoyed the month of July thus far, going 14-for-32 (.438) with five RBI and six runs scored. The emergence of J.D. Martinez has complicated the playing time in the Tigers outfield, but Davis' .296/.338/.432 line and 24 steals should continue to get his bat in the lineup semi-regularly in the second half.
Davis drives in 3 as Tigers bash the Dodgers | 07/08/2014 10:58 PM
NewsRajai Davis singled three times and knocked in three runs in four at-bats as the Tigers manhandled the Dodgers in a win on Tuesday.
ImpactThrow a dart at the Tigers' lineup to pick a standout star of the game, as everyone was hitting on Tuesday. They banged out 20 hits -- none of them home runs -- while scoring 14 runs against Dodgers pitching. Davis knocked in a pair of runs on two RBI singles, and notched his third RBI with a sacrifice fly. Davis has been an unlikely spark plug for the Tigers, slashing .286/.326/.420 with six home runs, 32 RBI, and 22 stolen bases.
Rajai Davis delivers walkoff grand slam | 06/30/2014 11:53 PM
NewsRajai Davis hit a walkoff grand slam off Sean Doolittle as the Tigers defeated the A's 5-4 on Monday.
ImpactThat's some extra degree of difficulty right there, hitting the grand slam down three runs off one of the league's most unhittable pitchers. Davis also singled and stole a base to end June on a high note. It was still hit worst month of the season, which, combined with J.D. Martinez's emergence, has caused him to lose playing time against righties.
Davis has three hits, stolen base against TEX | 06/25/2014 12:14 AM
NewsRajai Davis went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's win over the Rangers.
ImpactDavis swatted three singles after collecting just three hits over his previous 20 at-bats. Davis also stole his first base since June 16, his 21st of the year. With Torii Hunter set to return and J.D. Martinez stating his case to remain in the lineup, Davis' playing time may soon see a hit. Games like Tuesday's could garner a few more starts for the 33-year-old, though.
Rajai Davis goes 3-for-5, steals base | 06/16/2014 11:34 PM
NewsMaking his first start in four days, Rajai Davis went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and his 20th steal Monday against the Royals.
ImpactDavis has been sitting in favor of J.D. Martinez against a lot of righties lately, and that's probably for the best, even though he's hitting better than usual versus righties this year. He's been a useful mixed-league outfielder so far, but that's going to change if he continues to spend so much time on the bench.

NewsRajai Davis (shoulder) has returned to the Tigers lineup on Friday.

ImpactDavis left Wednesday's game with a bruised left shoulder and sat out Thursday as a precautionary measure. Fantasy owners can safely insert the speedster back into lineups for the weekend series against the Mariners.

Rajai Davis rips two-run homer Wednesday | 05/14/2014 4:09 PM
NewsRajai Davis belted a two-run homer in Wednesday's win over the Orioles.
ImpactDavis' blast in the sixth inning provided a two-run cushion after the Orioles had trimmed a 6-0 lead down to a 6-5 deficit. It's already the third longball on the year for Davis, who is on pace to easy set a career high with 14 dingers. Davis has also swiped 13 bases this season.

NewsRajai Davis is not in the Tigers starting lineup for Saturday's afternoon tilt against the Twins.

Davis scores three times as Tigers top Royals | 05/04/2014 6:47 PM
NewsRajai Davis went 3-for-6 with two stolen bases and three runs scored in the Tigers' 9-4 win over the Royals on Sunday.
ImpactDavis scored in the third, fourth and eighth innings, giving him 17 runs scored in 21 games this year. His 11 stolen bases lead the American League. He's hitting .337 and will almost certainly continue to find his way into the daily lineup when he's producing like this.
Rajai Davis goes 3-for-5, homers | 04/24/2014 5:00 PM
NewsRajai Davis went 3-for-5 with a homer and a double Thursday against the White Sox.
ImpactIt's going to be hard for the Tigers to give J.D. Martinez much of a look as long as Davis keeps playing like this. He currently has a .426 OBP in his 10 games in the leadoff spot.
Davis swipes sixth base in loss to Angels | 04/18/2014 10:52 PM
NewsRajai Davis went 1-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and swiped his sixth base of the season in Friday's loss to the Angels.

Rajai Davis scores three times | 04/13/2014 12:30 AM
NewsRajai Davis went 2-for-4 with a walk and three runs scored against the Padres on Saturday.

NewsRajai Davis (hamstring) said he felt fine Tuesday after playing three innings in left field.

NewsRajai Davis (hamstring) is expected to return to Grapefruit League action on Sunday or Monday.

ImpactDavis hasn't played since last weekend due to a tight hamstring. Any leg injury to a speedster is a bit worrisome, but the Tigers appear to just be playing things cautiously here.

NewsRajai Davis (hamstring) was scratched from Tuesday's lineup as a precaution.
Jason Beck on Twitter
ImpactDavis was scratched Monday due to a tight hamstring and isn't quite ready to return to game action. His speed is the biggest part of his game, so the Tigers aren't going to push things. The hope is that he'll be ready to go Friday.

NewsRajai Davis was scratched from Monday's lineup due to a tight hamstring.
Jason Beck on Twitter
ImpactIt's viewed as a precaution, but it would have made little sense to push Davis especially since he derives so much of his value from his legs. "It was my call," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said. "He said he could play." Davis should be back in there later this week.
Rajai Davis goes 3-for-4 against Cards | 03/10/2014 4:57 PM
NewsRajai Davis went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a steal as the Tigers' leadoff hitter Monday.
ImpactDavis has had brutal numbers against right-handers the last few years, and Dave Dombrowski reiterated after Andy Dirks' injury that Davis was signed to start against left-handers. Manager Brad Ausmus, on the other hand, seems to think Davis might be just fine as a full-timer initially. How Davis performs the rest of the spring could well decide the matter. If Davis is a full-timer initially, then he'd be a nice option in mixed leagues because of all of the steals. His start today came against a righty, though his double was off a left-handed reliever.

ImpactSportsnet.ca's Ben Nicholson-Smith reported late Monday that the Tigers were the frontrunner for Davis, who was expected to sign quickly. The 33-year-old batted .260/.312/.375 with six homers and 45 stolen bases in 2013 and would likely split playing time with Andy Dirks in left field. Adding Davis means that the Tigers would be less likely to land Shin-Soo Choo.

ImpactOrioles executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette said Monday that he believes Davis will sign with someone in the next day or two, and it appears the Twins might be the landing spot. Davis scores winning run as Jays top Sox 4-3 | 08/14/2013 11:16 PM
NewsRajai Davis went 3-for-4 and scored the game-winning run in the 10th inning as the Blue Jays beat the Red Sox 4-3 on Wednesday.
ImpactDavis, starting for the recently disabled Colby Rasmus in center field, doubled twice in the game, including off Red Sox reliever Brandon Workman in the 10th inning. After moving to third on a groundout, Davis scampered home on a Brett Lawrie ground ball to give the Jays the win. With Rasmus down for at least two weeks, Davis should see the bulk of the playing time in center and is a decent play in deeper mixed leagues.

NewsRajai Davis stuffed the stat sheet against the Twins Sunday, going 2-for-4 with a double, home run, walk, three RBI, three runs and a stolen base.
ImpactDavis has been a pleasant surprise for the Blue Jays this season, batting .296/.341/.395 with 22 steals in 25 attempts over 152 at-bats. As one of the major's elite speed options, Davis is well worth using in all formats as long as he's starting.

NewsRajai Davis went 2-for-4 with a run scored, an RBI and two stolen bases in Thursday's win over the White Sox.
ImpactWith Jose Bautista (back) still ailing, Davis got the start in right field and in the leadoff spot and proved to be a sparkplug. The speedy outfielder now has two straight two-hit games and has swiped four bags over the last six contests. He won't play every day once Bautista returns, but even with a few starts a week, Davis' speed makes him a worthy fantasy option.
