Adam Dunn hits 450th career homer | 06/07/2014 1:40 AM
NewsAdam Dunn went 3-for-5 and hit his 450th career homer Friday in a loss to the Angels.
ImpactIt was Dunn's 10th homer of the year. Of course, three-hit games are much less common than homers for Dunn; it was just his second one of those this season, with the other coming April 19 against the Rangers. In fact, he had a total of three hits in his previous eight games combined.
Adam Dunn launches walk-off HR vs. Yankees | 05/24/2014 12:40 AM
NewsAdam Dunn launched a walk-off two-run homer in a 6-5 victory over the Yankees on Friday night.
ImpactAfter Dayan Viciedo led off the bottom of the ninth with a single, Dunn turned on an 0-2 fastball from David Robertson and sent it over the right field fence for the game-winner. NewsAdam Dunn will start in left field Monday against the Cubs.
Chicago White Sox on Twitter
ImpactIt's obviously not ideal from a defensive perspective, but White Sox manager Robin Ventura wants to keep his bat in the lineup with the DH unavailable under National League rules. The 34-year-old slugger is batting .279/.409/.500 with five home runs and 12 RBI through 25 games this season.
Dunn delivers RBI double in loss to Tigers | 04/30/2014 12:33 AM

ImpactDunn also walked twice in the game. The RBI double capped a three-run third inning against Tigers starter Justin Verlander, the only three runs the Sox would bring home on the evening. Dunn has been a gem for fantasy owners in the first month, especially in leagues that count on-base percentage, as the Big Donkey has batted .280/.409/.533 through 21 games.
Dunn blasts career homer No. 444 in loss | 04/22/2014 11:49 PM
NewsAdam Dunn went 1-for-4 with a walk and a home run as the White Sox lost to the Tigers on Tuesday.
ImpactDunn's ninth-inning, two-run blast off of Phil Coke was part of the Tigers' late rally, but it ultimately wasn't enough. Dunn now has 444 career home runs and may be the next to join the 500-HR club, though it won't be until late 2015 at the earliest. Dunn, 34, has an .878 OPS in 17 games.
Dunn hits 443rd career home run | 04/15/2014 11:47 PM
NewsAdam Dunn blasted the 443rd home run of his career on Tuesday, the only hit he had in his only official at-bat as the White Sox beat the Red Sox.
ImpactDunn took Jake Peavy deep for a solo shot in the second inning, staking the White Sox to an early 1-0 lead. He broke a tie with Dave Kingman on the career home run leaderboard, moving into 38th place by himself. Dunn also drew three walks, as is typical of the 34-year-old veteran. He has quietly been off to a very productive start to the season.
Adam Dunn plates two in loss to Indians | 04/12/2014 5:41 PM
NewsAdam Dunn went 1-for-4 and drove home a pair of runs in Saturday's loss to the Indians.
ImpactThe 34-year-old slugger is off to a strong start for the White Sox, slashing .241/.410/.483 with two homers and seven RBI. His massive power and ability to get on base still provide considerable value in several fantasy formats.
Dunn hits first spring homer vs. Cubs | 03/27/2014 5:35 PM
NewsAdam Dunn went 1-for-2 with a solo home run against the Cubs on Thursday.
ImpactDunn belted his first spring homer in the ninth inning off of Wesley Wright. The slugger has had a forgettable spring and, at 34 years old, his numbers appear to be trending south. He can still be penciled in for close to 30 homers, but not much else.

NewsAdam Dunn went 2-for-3 and drove home a pair of runs on Friday, leading the White Sox to a 4-3 victory over the Reds in Cactus League action.
ImpactDunn drove home the team's first run with an RBI single in the first inning off starter Mike Leake, then broke a 3-3 tie with another RBI knock in the fifth to put the White Sox ahead to stay. With Jose Abreu and Paul Konerko on the roster, he stands to see fewer at-bats than he's accustomed to in 2014, but his massive power still has value.
Adam Dunn plans to keep playing in 2015 | 02/24/2014 9:09 PM
NewsAdam Dunn indicated Monday that he plans to continue his career beyond this season.
ImpactDunn has said in the past that retirement would be an option after his contract runs out following the upcoming season. It appears for now the 34-year-old plans to keep playing, though he said he probably wouldn't officially make a decision until after Thanksgiving. "Yeah, as of right now, today, yeah. I plan on coming [back]," said Dunn. "Again I could go out and stretch and say, 'I'm done, I'm not having any fun.' But I don't see that happening today."
Adam Dunn to see some time in OF | 02/20/2014 7:28 PM
NewsWhite Sox manager Robin Ventura plans to use Adam Dunn in left field some during Cactus League action.
ImpactWith Dunn, Jose Abreu and Paul Konerko, the White Sox have three players to cover first base and the designated hitter spot. They also have Alejandro De Aza and Dayan Viciedo to handle left field, but Ventura is apparently interested in giving Dunn some innings in the outfield. The 34-year-old has played 10 games in the outfield during his three seasons with the Pale Hose.
Adam Dunn could become odd man out | 01/25/2014 8:31 AM
NewsBuster Olney of ESPN believes that the White Sox have created a logjam at first base and designated hitter, and that Adam Dunn could wind up being the odd man out and put on the trading block.
Buster Olney on Twitter
ImpactJose Abreu is clearly the team's future at first base, and Paul Konerko isn't going anywhere else for his farewell tour. That leaves Dunn as a strong candidate to be dealt unless the White Sox are planning on platooning he and Konerko. Until the situation is resolved, Dunn's fantasy value is limited.
Dunn blasts one of 4 White Sox homers in win | 09/28/2013 11:24 PM
NewsAdam Dunn belted his 34th home run of the season, one of four total White Sox long balls in Saturday's 6-5 victory over the Royals.
ImpactDunn finished the evening 2-for-4. His two-run blast off Yordano Ventura increased the White Sox lead to 4-0 in the fourth inning. The 33-year-old slugger is now hitting .219/.320/.442 with 34 bombs, 60 runs scored, 86 RBI and a stolen base in 149 games.
Adam Dunn hits 33rd homer | 09/26/2013 11:05 PM
NewsAdam Dunn went 2-for-3 with a homer and a walk Thursday against the Royals.
ImpactThe slumping Dunn has suddenly turned into a part-time player down the stretch here, even though he's far and away the White Sox's leader with 33 homers and 84 RBI this season. The Royals throw righties the next two days, so perhaps he'll start both games.
Adam Dunn sitting out again Monday | 09/23/2013 9:36 PM
NewsAdam Dunn was not in the White Sox' lineup Monday for the third straight game.
ImpactManager Robin Ventura thinks Dunn has looked tired recently, and the big man's .104/.211/.194 batting line over the last 21 games is also surely a factor. Dunn will be back in the lineup Tuesday. "Just giving a lot of guys some really good looks against some really good teams," said Dunn. "That's the good part about, if there is a good part, evaluating what you have against good competition. That's also the bad part. Some people have to sit and watch. I understand, and it's good to kind of evaluate the kids, too."
Adam Dunn not in starting lineup on Saturday | 09/07/2013 9:44 AM
NewsAdam Dunn is not in the White Sox starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Orioles.
Daryl Van Schouwen on Twitter
ImpactThe veteran slugger is getting a day of rest against opposing southpaw Wei-Yin Chen. Dunn is hitting .225/.325/.445 with 30 homers, 80 RBI and a 69/162 BB/K rate on the year, and has recently hinted at the possibility that he could retire after the conclusion of this season.
Adam Dunn hints at possible retirement | 09/03/2013 10:55 PM
NewsAdam Dunn told FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal Tuesday that he could retire after the season.
ImpactDunn is just 33, is guaranteed $15 million next season and is within shouting distance of 500 homers, but he indicated that a lack of enjoyment for the game could lead him to walking away. "I'm not coming back just to come back for money or because I have one year left (on his contract)," Dunn said. "I'm not coming back to chase home-run numbers or whatever. If I end up with 499 and I'm not having fun, see ya - 499 it is." It's certainly something to file away, but it's hard to see Dunn giving up a guaranteed $15 million.
Adam Dunn not in Sunday's starting lineup | 09/01/2013 11:29 AM
NewsAdam Dunn is not in the White Sox starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Red Sox.
Dan Hayes on Twitter
ImpactIt's merely a day of rest for the monstrous slugger against left-hander Felix Doubront. He's having a productive season for the White Sox, hitting .228/.331/.456 with 30 homers and 79 RBI in 128 games.
Adam Dunn hits 30th home run | 08/27/2013 12:07 AM
NewsAdam Dunn reached 30 homers for the ninth time in his career Monday against the Astros.
ImpactDunn took Brett Oberholtzer deep in the sixth for No. 30. His homer pace has actually slowed down as the year has gone on, though his batting average keeps going up. He's at .235 right now, which is a huge improvement considering he finished May at .156 and didn't get over .200 for good until July 4.
Dunn slugs 29th home run in win over Texas | 08/24/2013 10:50 PM
NewsAdam Dunn slugged his 29th home run of the season Saturday as the White Sox beat the Rangers 3-2.
ImpactIt was the seventh win in eight games for the out-of-contention Pale Hose, who are doing a good job of playing spoiler. Dunn has an .803 OPS in 122 games.
Dunn launches solo homer against Twins | 08/17/2013 12:25 AM
NewsAdam Dunn went 2-for-3 with a solo homer, a walk, and two runs scored in Friday's win over the Twins.
ImpactDunn is hitting .313 through 28 games since the All-Star break, though he has just four home runs during that timespan. The 33-year-old slugger reportedly passed through waivers earlier this month, so he can be traded to any team, but his remaining salary would likely be a big obstacle to a potential deal.
Adam Dunn passes through waivers | 08/09/2013 11:28 AM
NewsCBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that Adam Dunn has passed through waivers.
ImpactHe can now be traded anywhere. Dunn is batting .227/.332/.465 with 26 homers and 69 RBI this season but is still owed close to $20 million through the end of next season. Heyman lists the Rangers and Orioles as two teams that might have interest, though the Rangers would prefer a right-handed bat.
Dunn collects four hits and a homer in loss | 08/04/2013 5:29 PM
NewsAdam Dunn finished 4-for-5 with a solo homer in Sunday's loss to the Tigers.
ImpactDunn's second four-hit game of the season spiked his batting average from .218 to .226. The slugger's awful averages have always hurt his fantasy value, but he's still on pace for 39 homers and 100 RBI. Dunn's 26 bombs rank fifth in the American League.
Dunn doubles, drives in two against Indians | 07/30/2013 10:47 PM
NewsAdam Dunn went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI in a loss to the Indians on Tuesday.
ImpactThe double was Dunn's 11th on the year, giving him 65 RBI. He's hitting just .216 this year but with a .323 on-base percentage. He's now got hits in six of his last seven games.
Dunn homers, drives in three in lopsided win | 07/09/2013 11:37 PM
NewsAdam Dunn went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in the White Sox' win over the Tigers on Tuesday.
ImpactDunn had three of the team's 23 hits in the game, including his 24th home run. The big man has carried a scorching June over into a nice July, as he's got three homers and eight RBI this month. He's now driven in 60 runs on the year and is hitting .209/.308/.480 overall.

Adam Dunn belts walk-off homer versus Orioles | 07/04/2013 6:07 PM
NewsAdam Dunn launched a walk-off homer in Thursday's win over the Orioles.
ImpactDunn had two hits, including an RBI single, earlier in the day before taking Tommy Hunter deep with an opposite-field shot in the bottom of the ninth. He's now hitting .290 with 11 homers and 29 RBI since the beginning of June.
Dunn hits 22nd homer as Sox best Orioles 5-2 | 07/03/2013 1:45 AM
NewsAdam Dunn blasted his 22nd home run of the season, a two-run shot, as the White Sox topped the Orioles 5-2 on Tuesday.
ImpactDunn just keeps doing his thing, as he's currently fourth in the American League with 22 homers and ninth in both RBI (54) and walks (40). He's also struck out 95 times in 272 at-bats, leading to a .199/.304/.467 line on the year. Dunn is coming off a month in which he hit nine homers and posted a .991 OPS, so it's a good time to be riding The Big Donkey.
Dunn slugs 20th home run but White Sox lose | 06/23/2013 5:38 PM
NewsAdam Dunn hit his 20th home run of the season on Sunday but the White Sox lost to the Royals.
ImpactDunn is batting just .193 with a .293 on-base percentage, but the random power outbursts have kept him plenty useful in mixed fantasy leagues. The slugger is currently on pace for 44 home runs and 107 RBI.
Dunn (4-for-4, 2 HR, 5 RBI) powers CHW to win | 06/11/2013 2:24 AM
NewsAdam Dunn carried Chicago to a 10-6 shootout win over Toronto on Monday night, going 4-for-4 with a walk, two homers, five RBI and three runs scored.
ImpactDunn has a pair of multi-hit games and three homers over his last three games. He's still hitting just .181 (up from .163 two days ago), but Dunn is fourth in the AL with 16 long flies and has collected 37 RBI in 58 games.
Adam Dunn still dealing with back pain | 05/22/2013 7:56 PM
NewsAdam Dunn is still dealing with back pain but plans to continue playing through it.
ImpactDunn left Saturday's game due to back spasms but was back in the lineup the next day and has remained in there each day since. The pain isn't an issue when he's swinging a bat, so he should be OK in the DH spot. "Laying down that hurts it worse and sitting down makes it stiff," Dunn said. "So, I'm sure I'll be walking around doing some stuff. Again, I never had any back problems. I don't consider this a back problem really. But I don't know. I guess it just has to run its course."
Adam Dunn hits three-run homer | 05/21/2013 12:10 AM
NewsAdam Dunn hit a three-run homer off Jon Lester in the White Sox's victory Monday.
ImpactThe home run was his second off a lefty this year. He hit 15 off southpaws last season after going without a single homer off a left-hander in 2011. Overall, Dunn has 11 homers this year. He's batting .211 with 13 RBI in 16 games this month after coming in at .148 with 12 RBI in 24 games in April.

Dunn leaves game with back spasms Saturday | 05/18/2013 6:19 PM
NewsAdam Dunn left Saturday's game against the Angels due to back spasms.
Dan Hayes on Twitter
ImpactJeff Keppinger hit for the first baseman in the fifth inning. Spasms are generally a day-to-day thing, so we'll have to see how Dunn is feeling Sunday before knowing if he'll have to miss some games. It's unfortunate timing, too, as Dunn has been heating up at the plate.
Adam Dunn busts out, homers twice in victory | 05/15/2013 4:53 PM
NewsAdam Dunn homered twice, doubled and knocked in five runs to lead the White Sox to a 9-4 win over the Twins on Wednesday.
ImpactDunn is terribly sad to see the series against the Twins come to an end. He hit three homers in the three games, and he could have had a fourth if Aaron Hicks hadn't gone over the fence to rob him on Monday. Hopefully for the White Sox, he'll stay hot in a four-game series in Anaheim this weekend. It doesn't seem all that likely, though; he's hit .228 with just two homers in 92 at-bats against Angels pitching in his career.
Dunn launches seventh homer as Sox beat Twins | 05/15/2013 12:55 AM
NewsAdam Dunn hit his seventh home run of the season Tuesday in the White Sox win over the Twins.
ImpactDunn had one taken away by Twins' center fielder Aaron Hicks on Monday, but he wouldn't be foiled again Tuesday. Dunn continues to be a batting average drag, so it's nice to see him finally start to show the power from which the vast majority of his value is derived.
Dunn hits fifth home run in loss to Rays | 04/27/2013 10:55 PM
NewsAdam Dunn hit his fifth home run of the season in Saturday night's loss to the Rays.
ImpactDunn is batting just .134/.211/.341 in 22 games, but he's capable of parking one at any time and so you have to live with the other stat deficiencies. The 33-year-old DH has three home runs in his last six games.
Adam Dunn hits two-run homer in win | 04/25/2013 11:19 PM
NewsAdam Dunn hit a two-run homer off Jeremy Hellickson in the White Sox's win Thursday.
ImpactSure, Dunn is hitting .108, but at least .054 of that comes from homers (he now has four). He also walked three times Wednesday, which matched his total from his first 18 games combined. Maybe he won't bust out all of a sudden, but this makes two encouraging days in a row.
Dunn goes 0-for-4 with three strikeouts | 04/20/2013 6:52 PM
NewsAdam Dunn finished 0-for-4 with three strikeouts Saturday in an extra-innings loss to the Twins.
ImpactDunn owns a hideous .098/.154/.213 batting line in 16 games and has already fanned 23 times. He does have a pair of homers, though, and shouldn't be benched in fantasy leagues because his power can show up at any time.
Adam Dunn goes hitless in loss to Blue Jays | 04/15/2013 10:34 PM
NewsAdam Dunn went 0-for-3 with a HBP from the fifth spot in the White Sox lineup on Monday.
ImpactDunn's .128 average isn't nearly as shocking the fact that he's walked just twice in 47 at-bats this season. He can supplement the low batting average with the terrific walk rate usually, but he's hardly getting on base in any sort of fashion this year.

Adam Dunn hits first homer for White Sox | 04/03/2013 5:06 PM
NewsAdam Dunn homered, singled and scored twice against the Royals on Wednesday.
ImpactManager Robin Ventura's surprising decision to bat Dunn fourth ahead of Paul Konerko gave his value a bit of a boost. Nothing against Konerko, but since he's terribly slow and he drives in a lot of runs himself, he's a rather tough guy to hit behind. Of course, Dunn hit ahead of Konerko last year, too, but it looked like he'd be dropped to fifth this year with Alex Rios moving up to the third spot.
Dunn delivers two-run double in win | 03/29/2013 11:41 PM
NewsAdam Dunn went 3-for-3 with a two-run double and a walk in Friday's 7-2 win over the Brewers.
ImpactDunn entered Friday's action hitting .204 this spring, equaling his batting average from last season. As long as he continues to hit home runs and draw walks, you won't hear any complaints from the White Sox or fantasy owners.

Adam Dunn to be more aggressive at the dish | 02/22/2013 11:49 PM
NewsWhite Sox manager Robin Ventura indicated on Friday that he's "very interested" in seeing Adam Dunn's new, more aggressive approach on display during the Cactus League season.
ImpactWhile Dunn had a bounce-back season with 41 homers and 96 RBI in 2012, he still hit just .204 and struck out a league-high 222 times. He also led the league in walks with 105, but has vowed to become a more aggressive hitter in 2013. Even with the re-vamped approach, Dunn will be a huge batting average liability in fantasy drafts.
